Hang on this is R32 GTR Vs R33 GTST - that's a no brainer for me (GTR EVERY TIME) but then - I own an R32 GTR Agree - always cheeper to buy than modify yourself
-
I think Tomei do full kit with 1.2mm metal head gasket and metal gaskets for inlet too I think
-
OK you're right - just checked thanks for that - will the relay need to be replaced too if I use another (non-nissan) fan ?
-
looks std to me - only about 10 inches tho does not run via relay (that I can see) I've check wiring at it looks OK (to me anyway) will see if I can get an after market fan installed this week and let everyone know if this fixes the problem
-
keen on the bonnet how much to get it to Brisbane ? TY Scott
-
yep - did the re-wire thing last week end still playing up all week

OK pps I'm still having problems with the thermo fan on my R32 GTR if I replace the fuse - the fan works fine for a while - and the car sits bang on 80 degrees After a while (if I get stuck in Brisbane traffic), when the fan comes under a real load - it blows the fuse again. My auto electrician is suggesting the fan may be shot. Under load it's pulling too much juice (too much resistance in the fan I suspect) and it blows the fuse. Now - it's sounds like I need a new fan - so which one do I get The Genuine Nissan item costs $450+ and needs to make it's way from the land of the rising Sun UAS have one for $260 - but it does not look like it's a direct swap http://www.nismo.com.au/pricelists/General.../thermofan1.jpg Talk to me - what is the go-to solution here ?

this may be a silly question - but can I use these on my R32 GTR if so - how tricky are they to fit ? -
you can remove the mesh - up to 25% better flow (or so I'm told ) I have de-meshed AFMs on my GTR without problems your call tho
-
I've used Wisco in my RB26 (87mm). They are 2 years old with no probs, pulling ~300awkw BUT they are noisy - but that could also be a clearance thing with my build tho
-
Hey R32 GTR rebuilt 2 years ago (20,000klm) Wysco forged pistons N1 Bearings shot peen / balanced blah blah blah Tomei head gasket - std thickness (a good thing) running 1.2 bar all day every day (with N1 turbos) Only problem I have is my knock readings can get up to 60 - but it's NOT pinging - this may be the wyscos, or high clearances - not sure which
-
is that what you need ? http://www.nengun.com/hks/fine-tune-timing-belt
-
yep - mine used to sit bang on 80 all the time (rain/mail/shin) - but in the past few weeks - I think the fan has gone to a better place I did have some work done on the air con a little while ago - maybe I should check that everything has been connected up properly
-
Hang on - sorry pps I think I may be talking about the engine fan. The large clutch fan attached to the radiator inside the engine bay - not the secondary fan on the outside of the radiator - which I probably also need to check. how can I check if this guy is working ?
-
the current fan is the std fan AFAIK was of the understanding that the themostat controlled the clutch on the fan have not RTFMed as yet tho am I missing something ?

Guys/Gals I think I may have an issue with the thermo fan on my R32 GTR (it's not working at ALL !!!) I'm in sunny Brisbane - and now that we are getting some reasonable summer heat - I've noticed my PFC temp readings creeping up over 100 from time to time. The car normally sits on 80 - but I've been stuck in traffic a couple of times over the past few weeks and noticed my water temps starting to creek up. Yes - I have a N1 water pump - no sledging from SK pls. When she hit 100 degrees today - I could not hear the fan come on - and the temp continued to climb (107) until I cleared the traffic and got some air flowing 1: how do I check that my themo fan is working (properly ?) 2: if I want to replace it - what should I get ? 3: I've herd you can get the PFC to turn the fan on earlier - how is this done - is there someone in Brisbane that can do this tweak for me 4: the first person to mention blown head gasket (or similar) gets to pay for the replacement

thanks guys once I have that sorted out, and I have marked them both - my current thinking is to swap them over and check the the fault follows the AFM is it a safe assumption that the one with the low reading is the faulty one ?? As I said - I have 2 'other' AFMs - I'll then try and rotate them in one at a time (replacing only the faulty one) and see how I go Also - I took the car back to the auto electrician this morning - and I am disappointed to say that they have given up !!! Their current suggestion is for me to take it to a mechanic and have a smoke test done to check for vacuum leaks etc - if it turns out to be something they have touched, they will pay for it. Otherwise I'll need to foot the bill. I'm guessing that they will not be too interested in paying for new AFMs Mercury have quoted $88 for a smoke test (which should only take 30mins) – so if that's all that's needed, GREAT (I bet it does not work tho) I'm not sure if I'm happy with that - but I just want the car fixed !!! I will post when I have a result
-
so - after some more checking @ 4500rpm AFM1 reads ~2.5 volts AFM2 reads ~1.9 volts I'm assuming this is BAD Are we sure that AFM2 is the top AFM that is plumbed to the rear turbo ? I have 2 'spare' AFMs - but I think one of those in dodgy too (arrgg) NB I don't think the pipe is leaking any more - I may have an AFM that is FUBAR
