  1. interesting - I don't use ANY oil - but it does seem to use LOTS of fuel I'm also now getting a mild back fire (pop) between gears at moderate load - another sign of too much fuel I thought (I'm not expert tho) Would an oil leak on one of the turbos cause this ? NB head was also completly rebuild 12k ago - all new seals etc - so I don't think my problem is there either I suppose - what I'm aksing is would removing the mesh from my AFMs impact mixtures ???
  2. Guys do these mixtures look OK I have an R32 GTR and since having this power run done I have removed the mesh from my AFMs and installed a cold air intake. Now the car seems to run VERY rich (obvious ?) I sometimes get less than 300ks from a full tank of fuel with a mixture of normal and heavy driving, and I get clouds of blueish smoke under heavy acceleration smoke is mainly when I accelerate hard (big cloud of smoke) but once I'm on the peddle the smoke stops. Engine has done about 12klms since rebuild and is running Apexi PFC So – is it time for a re-tune, or should I try taking some fuel out myself (watching for knock)

  5. I know what you mean - mine is clearly binary (on or off) - problem is that I have had the car for almost 2 years now - and it's only started doing this in the past month or so. I don't think I've changed my driving style in that time I've been looking at some pics and visually speaking it looks like an OS Giken (spelling ??). By that I mean it's not purple or anything I'm as concerned about the groan as I am about the shudder any chance I could have some oil on the clutch plate or fly wheel ? what else could make this noise ?
  6. thanks for that Also I forgot to mention that I still don't seem to get any slip - I can easily break traction - even in 3rd @ speed (I just love telling people that ) So - am I on the right track - or not ? will a twin plate slip - or just die ?

OK I have an R32 GTR with about 300awkw – and I think my clutch may be going I currently have a twin plate – 'cause I here it rattle every time I have the clutch on the floor (no it's not the spigot beating), but I don't have much (READ :ZERO) experience with twin plate clutches – so this is my problem. Lately the car / clutch we will shudder (ALLOT) when moving away from a stand still – this is worst when doing a hill start. I also seem to get what I will describe and a groaning sound when the clutch is at the balance point. The groan will happen pretty much all the time when moving away from stand still (can replicate it) – and the noise is linked to engine speed not road speed. It seems to be coming from the passenger side front of the car – and is almost like a v-belt slipping without the squeal. So – my assumption is that the clutch is about to go – yes ? Having foolishly leapt to that conclusion (and I'm looking for confirmation here guys) what should I use to replace it with. I know I can recondition the current twin plate – any suggestions on how much that should cost. The clutch was in the car when I got it – so I do not know exactly what sort of clutch it is. What if I wanted to swap over to a single plate clutch – I understand that these types of clutches can easily take the power – but will I need to replace my fly wheel too. Will that be a better option. My current twin plate is OK (not too heavy) – but it's less than ideal for day to day driving. Lastly – how much, or how many hours should it take a reasonable mechanic to swap the clutch out ? all comments / advice and general sledging welcomed at this stage
  8. so the std ingnitor (little silver thingy @ the back of the engine) is NOT get replaced what about the std spark plug loom - does the new loom replace that or just plug into the existing one !!! it provides BIGGER/FASTER spark - which is what my splitfire coils were supposed to be doing
  9. cool I'd like to see what actually gets replaced with the CDI system - just to be sure that I have covered all bases anyone know exactly what's in one of these kits ?

  11. Well - I got mine from Nengun (paid $950 for it) So I KNOW mine will not be covered in Aus I'd be happy to pay for the upgrade if I knew it fixed the problem it was not too expensive did not require a full retune (dyno)
  12. I think I see a pattern forming here OK 1: how do I check if my PFC can be upgraded (remove and inspect ?) 2: what is the current (newest) version of the software (should I be down revving ?) 3: where in Sunny Brisvegas would I go to get it done
  13. interesting - so what other mods do you have ? I'm still fishing for some commonality some where !! Also interesting to hear that even the D-Jetro PFC has this problem

I swapped from R32 N1s to R34 N1s when I did my rebuild about 18 months ago on a stock engine with 3'' zorst, mines ECU and pods I was seeing ~220awkw @ 1 bar engine was very tired tho (thus the rebuild) - so a strong std motor may do a little better don't think they would have got to 1.5 bar without fuel/fmic/injector upgrades too the R34 N1s give me 300awkw @ 1.2 bar - and a solid 270awkw at 1 bar

  20. well neither had I until I got a half dozen responces and PMs that last time I posted this question I then assumed it was 'common' and something I needed to live with Agree - but I do not have datalogit !!! any time - mainly when hot - but can happen when cold yep - no diff yep - no diff my know readings sit at about 30-50 - but I have a noisy engine yep - BP Ultimate every time - different servos - and I've tried octain booster

  22. OK peeps I posted a thread here a while back (6 months or more ago) asking for input on an intermittent miss fire I am getting on my PFC equipped R32 GTR. At that stage I had .... new iridium spark plugs replaced AFMs new plug leads (yes GTRs do have leads) new ignitor new split fire coil packs I was looking for some input on where else to look – but I got feedback from a few guys that this sort of thing was 'common' with PFCs (common may be over stating things - but I was not the only one seeing this problem) Can anyone confirm that this is a 'know issue' with PFCs ? Anyone found a way to fix it – can the PFC be software (firmware) upgraded smehow ? The reason I ask is that my miss fire seems to be getting worse. If seems to happen more often now, and also when under load. So a small miss fire when cruising along at 80 klms is no big deal, but a miss fire at full noise is something that I would like to fix. PFCs seem VERY common - and I had no hesitation in getting one when I did my engine rebuild about 18 months ago - but no one mentioned at that stage that they have these sorts of problems.
