  1. No it is 180KPH, once your speedo gets abouve 100KPH it's pretty inaccurate, that's why it'll show 190KPH on the dial around the speed cut.

Hook up to the consult port and get a digital read-out and you can see the difference.

Edit: Maybe i'm selling the poor speedo short, that's only about a 5% error really, it just gets compounded the faster you go.

  2. They all have rev limiters in, just about every car with an ECU has one, it's common sense.

These aren't carbied V8's that let you spin em till they do bearings, or just 'splode, etc.

Just coz the guage says 9000 RPM doesn't mean you can actually hit it.

You can get Nismo 320KPH Speedos too...

I can't remember the factory ECU strategy but I'm pretty sure it's an ignition cut.

They make a distinctive noise when they bounce off it too.

I tell a lie, you probably could hit 9000 RPM if you were revving high in 3rd gear, and on the gear change managed to grab 2nd instead 4th.

Pretty sure a Volvo did it in Targa a few years back, went to 10,000 RPM, then popped!

Edit: The easiest way to find it (your limit) is do a burnout in 2nd.

You should be able to hold it there no worries for a while.

Just don't go free revving it to find out (can't remember exactly why but) it's bad.

If i remember rightly stock R32 is about 7200RPM (gauge reads 8500-9000 and redline starts at 6500-7000).

  3. Yeah mate. Ive worked out the numbers and if I 'upgraded' it would leave me living off rice and soy sauce for a few months+years which I dont want to do. That and the fact that at the state the current market is in, my 'line wont be worth much thus rather keep it. I want to drift it someday as well, hehehehe. Care to join me on that venture...?
I'm in the same boat, just can't see much point in upgrading while prices are in such a free fall, whether i can justify spending money on my current car though is questionable.
  4. The GTR was absolutely awesome for its time and the money at $110k in Australia. What do people think the equivilent is these days, $180k?

Based on this inflation calculator: http://www.rba.gov.au/calculator/calc.go

    110K 1989 dollars = 170K 2005 (latest it goes) dollars.

So $180K is damned good guess for a 2007 figure.

However, given this GTR is significantly more powerful, on a stand-alone platform (i.e. it's NOT a Skyline), and things like metals, plastics, etc. would have increased in cost at a faster in recent times, I'm thinking it'll exceed $200K, maybe even nudge $250K when released here.

And yet that article suggest a USD 70K pricetag, which puts it at a sub AUD 100K after conversion, but given we're a smaller market, yadda yadda, maybe $120K-$150K would be realistic here if that article is to be believed.

    Who knows? I certainly don't. :(

  5. I dunno about R34 RB26's, sorry, and ok those temps do sound high.

If it's taking a long time to cool down too i'd be looking at something flow related like you said, thermostat not open properly, a kink in a hose, or the radiator simply not getting enough air.

If you're still running the clutch fan, and not thermos, is the original shroud on? Be suprised at the difference they make.

  6. 100C water temp on the track aint real bad, esp. since the oil temps were 80C, remember it's a pressurized system so 100C doesn't equal boiling.

Pretty sure the stock water-pump runs out of puff up high in the revs, that's what N1 items are for, but the trade-off is they don't like sitting in traffic.

I'd hit up the Vic section these quite a few serious track-whores over there, Team Wang Racing in particular, the yknow who they are.
