  1. Hahaha W00t my first run in the car and i get spotted :D. I passed a R33 was that you? I was on my way back to my garage (in Loxton) because i was going overseas (im ova now) and im going to wait until i get back to get it complied, the front bar was missing because it was to low to get on the truck.

EDIT: oh sorry didnt read it properly, it was prolly my car being transported to my compliance workshop (PVP Imports) before i picked it up.

Nah mate, blue R32 sedan, and stay away from them flatbeds if you can. :D
  2. Didn't get any PM's about the cruise. It's ok. Hope to join you guys in the near future for events like this.

Oops! Looks like Sam dropped the ball, we'll make sure you get the details to the next one.

Just a note to anyone organising these things in the future, once you've sent out the details via PM post a quick message in the thread, then hopefully anyone you've missed will be able to pipe up in time.

victor cruise would be a great idea Darren. I think Andrew said he was organising that when he returns from the U.S. Oh and go-karting (if possible) too - is port elliot and victor yeah each other?

Yeah they're not too far from each other, April's format was:

Cruise to victor for lunch via direct route (express way),

    Then off to the karts,

Then back home via indirect way (cutting up around meadows to the fwy then home).

I think that worked pretty well.

Another possibility is paintball in Kuitpo, but it'd require a minimum 10 people and a $10 per person deposit in advance, I'd be happy to organise that sometime if there was enough interest.

    Edit: Website here: http://www.paintballsports.com.au/

  3. GTS4 Atessa system is the same as the GTR.

The extra weight and drive-train loses would put me off AWD for a R32 with RB20DET, but if you seriously intend to swap in something bigger (i.e. RB25/26/30), then i'd consider it.

    Personally I'd like a 4-Door GTS4 with a RB26.

AWD can have HICAS too, but don't get too excited by it, it's no where near as "bendy as Honda's 4WS (only 1 degree). You'll find many owners disable it, and IMHO it's a gimmick, in many cases makes the rear-end unpredicable when driving at 8/10 or more.

  4. You can if you have a certain level CAMS license

My understanding (and 2nd hand expereince once more) is that it's up to the event organisers more than anything. A lot of events allow passenger runs in the first warm-up session, where driving must 80% of ability, but once the main game is on passengers are a no go.
  5. I can't speak from 1st hand experience, but i have been "pit crew" for RowdyR32 at Sandown, he's pretty blaise about this stuff and went out with stock radiator and no oil cooler. Just did an oil change before hand (2-3K old oil anyways), checked brakes, tyres, etc. (should of paid more attention to the susp. on his GTR before going out but that's another story) and bought some high-quality brake fluid.

As these were super sprints, 6 laps or so long, temps weren't too bad.

But the brake fluid was the problem, as he didn't change it over before hand, so by lap 4-5 his pedal was pretty much on the floor coz he'd boiled the old stuff. So, between each session I had to help him flush the brakes, and top up with the high-quality stuff.

So i know the one thing I'll be doing for certain before hand, if/when i get out there, new brake fluid!

Another thing is, if this is a CAMs event you'll be required to have an extinguisher, but even if it's not I'd still carry one (maybe even two). I've been meaning to get one even though all i do is drive on the road.

  6. Erm. Why do you need a group buy?  Go down to Jaycar and buy 8G or 4G power cable and away you go?!

Either that, or buy an HKS/NISMO/RICER ground kit and waste your money and prove you're just a consumer whore?

    ;)

Even Jaycar's cable is a bit exy, when i was living in Melb i went to a cabling specialist (in Moorabin), paid about half what Jaycar wanted for 4G stuff.
  7. Yeah, well my car hasn't been modified much further so there hasn't been the impetus, and when i looked at it properly you really need an emulator to do the job right.

IMHO it's just not a feasible process to:

Dyno -> Change Tune -> Erase Chip* -> Burn Chip --\
    ^                                                 |
    |                                                 |
    \------------ Repeat til done <-------------------/

*You really need a special eraser for this, you can leave em in the sun but it's unreliable, or you can keep using freshies at ~$10 a pop.

Which is why, from what i can gather, Sam originally had a generic tune and made the odd tweak here and there.

Once you factor in the equipment costs for an individual it's more economical to go the PowerFC route.

Edit: And you'll STILL need Dyno time, and someone to tune it (unless you're confident with it yourself) who will be unfamiliar with the process, which despite it's benefits is why it'll always be a bit of specialty to certain tuners.

  8. R33 maps are in the ecu itself, not on a seperate EEPROM, so you need to install a daughter-board. It's a fair bit of f**king about and no where near as flexible as a PowerFC which arent THAT expensive and nearly everyone knows how to use.

  9. A great read, makes we wish i was back in Vic more than anything else, but I think you should assign an editor / proof reader (a fresh pair of eyes, someone who hasn't been involved in it's production in anyway) as a a fair few simple errors slipped through.

I know I'm being pedantic but it takes a bit of the gloss off what it is otherwise a very slick publication. Regardless, well done. :(

  10. It was already on my car when i bought it but i downloaded the bin thru my consult and compared the bin. His re-chip removed the AFM limit, speed limit, upped the rev cut (too high IMHO), and added some timing in the lower rev-range.

You just de-solder the old chip, solder a 28pin socket in, then burn a new chip and pop it in to place. You can't re-program via consult.

  11. A while ago now...they had em lined up at the back straight. Then they let em go out, and they did do most of the track, but from spectators pov its pretty sheit, as you cant see 9/10ths of the track...

Pt. Gawler is a much better track imho

There's a drift being organised there for the 29th of next month over on NS.com
