  1. I don't care if they place say 10pm curfews - better to drag locally until 10pm, than drive out to the middle of nowhere, where it takes an hour travelling time each way, then if you bust or need to replace something you have to pay mega-bucks for a tow etc etc.

I can't see noise impinging on any existing houses, and people who plant o move to the area just need to be aware that there will be noise, and not bitch and moan about it. I take your points mid life crisis - people who whinge about boat noise should not have built on the water .... that is like building under an air route and then complaining about the noise (which I know people in Richmond did - idiots).

Andrew you know better than to expect that, you only have to look at Sanddown in Melb, live music venues in city's, airports shifting out, etc, etc.

People move in, whinge, and noise-makers are forced out.

Look this is all very exciting but until I see bulldozers I'm not getting my hopes up.

  2. I used to fish a hell of a lot (mostly on the Bay in Melb but numerous trips too) from pier and on the boat (family sold it years ago now), been up to Yorke's twice since moving here but nothing to write home about, mostly crabs and unless someone else is peeling them I ain't interested. :ermm:

Used to do pretty much the lot, lure, troll, live, but mostly bait. Never fly tho.

Best efforts would have to be John Dory off the wharf and a brace of Tailor in the estuary round Merimbula (NSW), lotsa Flathead at Mallacoota (VIC), my first Murray Cod was fun (nothing huge in size), but these days I think I'm just too impatient.

  3. Stick to the GTSt, do some basic cost-effective mods, exhaust, cooler, boost control, chipped ecu, suspension (in approx that order) and learn how to drive well with 160RWKW to start. You'll be quicker than 95% of what's out there and not broke.

After that, better turbo with a FPR and you're set for 200RWKW. Much more and you start to affect the drivability of a RB20.

  4. If it's just basic stuff, and we're going just outside the CBD, I can recommend:

    Steve Richards (08) 8344 9595

He's attached to the BP on Main North Rd (city end), he's did my water pump and timing belt plus basic service all for very reasonably rates.

  5. I've done that drive so many times (only once in the 'line), it's just not that thrilling for me, but glad you all had a good trip.

Julie couldn't believe how full-on Crown is either (esp. compared to the Casino here), did you stop for a gawk at the fireballs along the Yarra?

Now days I just fly, it's so cheap, unless I plan to spend a couple days somewhere like Halls Gap (recommended if you like a good walk) along the way.

  6. Girlfriend saw a White R33 (she thinks and possibly a sedan) on it's side/roof near Regency Rd intersection with Main North this arvo.

Was messed up apparently, all the services on hand, and looked liked they'd hand to climb out the smashed rear-window.

    Anyone know anything?

  7. Magazine tests aren't worth shit, vested interest just being the half of it, the one I linked was an International Standards Organisation test done by and approved and accredited agency.

But at the end of the day people will do what they do, and believe what they want, placebo therapy is plenty evidence for that.
