  1. okay got a converter and tried it out last night, i felt so Fast&Furious driving around with the laptop in my car but some comments (please note this is the only software i've used so far): * The user interface is rubbish and confusing. * The ROM dump most certainly doesn't take 11 mins, after 11 mins i wasn't even 10% complete. * The auto ECU detect worked fine for my RB20DET. * The logging does its job, i was supprised at how often it sampled but many consecutive readings were the same at ALL variables so i kinda question if it was an update or a copy of teh previous. * The application doesn't exit properly, after you close it it leaves a process called "Consult" running which muck you up if you open TECU again. On the whole i think it's a promising product and above all it's free but it has a way to go yet, simple things like using check-boxes when it should be radio buttons, the UI REALLY let it down and is so important.
  2. You're pretty much on the money, the spring tension in aftermarket atmo items is usually much higher than stock plumbbacks, a slight leak when you plumb back doesn't matter so its not seen as a problem. If you get a bigger spring it should help, Nigel from ICE has 2 x GTR BOVs vented to air on his Supra, not sure if he did this (or maybe his dont leak) you'd have to ask him about it.
  3. Post in your local forum and see if some kind soul (with either a RB20/26) will lend you theirs for 5 minutes.
  4. Even stock GTR items leak slighty, RowdyR32 had his venting to atmo on his RB26 GTST and it idled like shit, he added some ducted vacuum sockets (which seal under vacuum) and the idle improved greatly but they still leaked under boost. Looked kinda cool tho with his vacuum flaps snapping open and shut when the BOV vented! It was a good experiment but not something you'd do long term, he's now got his own plumb-back piping and it runs a lot better all round.
  5. Further the head-lights, the little inserts that clip back in to the guards, are they still there or have they snapped of (like most seem to)? Cheers.
  6. thems fightin' words! can't say i agree but i know how these associations work, you never get them out of your head, so why try and prove otherwise...
  7. was going to test this out but i have no serial ports and no RS232-to-USB converter, will pick one up today...
  8. Thanks, I'll be moving to Adelaide in a coupld of weeks and will get in touch then, if you still have one i'll most likely take it off your hands.
  9. Cool, prolly knocked summin loose myself, goddamn there's so many electrical taped wires under there! Not cool. PS. I like the little clear top you added to the box, all finished nicely, sign of pro.
  10. Just added a rating for Impakt http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/tr...ings.php?u=1300 and the dates are all 01-01-1970. As i my parents were not married in 1970, let alone my bieng conceived, i think it could be inaccurate. Seriously though i think the dating is quite important as it's another useful bit info. on the CURRENT activities of someone you're about to throw money at. Cheers.
  11. Arrived yesterday, thank-you, you've been a pleasure to deal with and a huge thanks for the modifications you made (at a very fair price) for me. They're just what i was after and I'll post some pics when my install is finalised. The unit was well packed and arrived in perfect working condition. On a side note my dash clock no longer seems to work (doesn't display anything), with or without the unit plugged in, but i had to mess around and move part of my alarm install (which is an absolute disgrace) when plugging it in first time so i can't confidently atribute the problem to the Digidash. Are you aware of any problems like this? HIGHLY recommend people, great piece of kit, hopefully i'll get more time to play with it over the weekend.
  12. Pictures of the R32 braces appreciated will PM you my email addr.
  13. Hmmm... well guess i'm just thankful i have the Climate Control, however, if they were an option i can't see it being a massive task to fit on after the fact. After all the factory had to do it and it'd be woefully ineffiecent too make really to do (altho if it's ALL behind the dash that's much easier with a partially assembled car). Good luck.
  14. NS linkage: http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.p...showtopic=70548 Guy in HK, no minimum qty, $550 door-to-door. ~7 days delivery.
  15. So where'd you get it done and are you happy with it? The pics make it look good but i've learnt NEVER to trust them and it was dark the last time i saw your car in the flesh (least i THINK it was yours at the meet). Also if you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for it?
  16. Try http://english.auto.vl.ru for all the specs you need. Although some of the features/accessories are off but the core things like model/year/engine/trans/dimensions etc. seem to be on the money.
  17. RowdyR32 and myself have discussed this often, if money ever becomes a non-issue (we can all dream), then we've both agree that we'll build a R32 GTR bush-basher! Big wheels, suspension, 5 post bullbar, maybe even a custom station wagon conversion and a roof extension (so you don't hit you head going over big stuff). You can't tell me it wouldn't be cool! Bring on the :flamed: !
  18. If you sit in traffic for extended periods on a regular basis i think it could be a good idea, but otherwise i'd take waterspray but as effective as it is you still need airflow, so ideally you'd have BOTH on a FMIC In summary, i'd go with a simple FMIC, or if you want to remain stock looking setup a waterspray (remember my traffic exception).
  19. Exhaust Manifold is gone and two f'in studs broke removing it! Open to offers on what's left.
  20. I've done a fair bit of searching on WRC cars and found very little info. on their engines, care to point me in the direction of some info. sources to back your claims?
  21. I've read bits and pieces of Graham Bells FIPT, this isn't exactly on topic (and could start another sh!t fight), and i seem to remember it mentioning a race team who set their engines up to run no wastegates and instead use pop-off valves to regulate boost... ...i guess my point is (if i have one): just because race team X swears by method Y, it might'd be the greatest thing out there, and it sure as hell doesn't mean it translates well to the street. Porsche make some awesome machines but you can't hold up what they do (or did years ago) and preach it to be gospel. I think it's safe to say F1 is the pinnacle of N/A engine development and if only they'd bring back the turbos we could add those teams to the discussion. Which leaves WRC and Indy at the top of the current Turbo field (shame there's no more Pikes Peak or Group N) so i'd be interested to hear what those RACE teams run BOV-wise. Please, and i'm sure someone will, correct me if there are higher level race categories out there... we've already discussed LeMans 24Hr and to be fair that's a single race not a category IMHO. Edit: Shows how much i follow Indy, looks like they run N/A V8's now, when did that happen?
  22. yeah, i'm interested to see what they look like too...
  23. Yeah i have the electronic display / buttons, mine's a M-Spec but, i thought ALL R32's had it but you learn something everyday...
  24. I have a '89 R32 GTST and my unit looks exactly the same as RowdyR32's '92 R32 GTST. So my question is what's the difference and when in the model did they change?
