  1. even if it looked better you wouldnt see it due to cam gear covers

That would be cam gears under the cam gear cover.

Pulleys are indeed visible, although the fan and shroud obscures much of them, unless you run a thermo of course.

But as Ryan basically said, don't bother, if you're serious get a lightened flywheel.

Light rims will make a difference too.

  2. awesome...ya lucky ba5tard. Are you doing a tandem jump? skydiving & hang gliding are still on my to do list of extreme activities.

Tandem yeah, so I'll just be a large piece of luggage, but I'm certainly looking forward to it!

I was supposed to do it last Sunday, but the weather wasn't good enough, and the only time we could reschedule the whole group was for 4 weeks. So i get the anticipation all over again...

  3. Ok, my turn.

Fishing - But land based is pretty shit-house over here (unless you like crabs) so if anyone needs a seat warming on those boats let me know. :action-smiley-069:

    Camping - Been a while.

Home Brew - Time for a new batch soon, been 6+ months, and if anyone wants some fresh hops lemme know I have kilos of the shit.

Gaming - In fits and starts, few weeks intense, few months off.

Aquariums - Just bought one before Christmas and am enjoying it.

Motorbikes - Not yet, but planning on getting my license this year.

  4. Best disconnect the injector loom, no point spraying fuel about for no good reason, what else could go wrong?

Well you could drop a bolt down the spark plug hole, but that's easy fixed with a magnetic pick, everyone who doesn't own one, buy it now, they cost nothing and you'll wonder how you survived without.

The above leads to this, make sure you clean out any crap around the plugs before removing them, a good blow (teehee) should sort it.

Ummm... try not to cross-thread any bolts (incl. sparkies) when putting them it back in, always tighten with your figures first, then the ratchet.

Yes, rockers stay, only the valley cover needs to be off, the cross pipes can even stay if you have some extensions and uni-joints, it's fiddly but has worked the last few times I've changed spark-plugs and/or coils.

  5. I can't possibly see how it is just as fast to do a compression test on an RB compared to an SR. The SR you can literally be done in 10 minutes. On the RB you haven't even gotten the darn rocker cover off by then, well on a NEO anyway. POS.

I have a compression tester tool if anyone needs to borrow.

Why you taking the rocker cover off? I'm assuming you mean the valley cover, mine hasn't been on for the last 2 years. ;) And NEOs well they've got that lovely plastic turtle shell too.

Also when does time equate to difficulty, I never said it was necessarily quick, who cares if it takes him an hour or even 2? This isn't a WRC service stop.

  6. yeah I think we left around 8:30pm .... *edit* some drunk d!ck *edit* wouldn't leave me alone and I didn't want to hospitalise him. Little wiry guys like that shouldn't try to start fights with fat forkers like me - they just get hurt. I don't need to be arrested for assault thanks.

I'm sorry to hear that Andrew, it's actually the first time I met him, but I knew a couple others on that table.

  7. Factor in Postage for items like gearboxes as well.

The weight of the items almost makes it not worth it to buy interstate, and u have to buy the item without seeing it as well.

Even if you can see it, it's pretty hard to tell the internal condition of a gbox, unless of course you could open it up but find me a wrecker that'll let you do that. Just have to hope they'll honour the very much limited warranty they offer.

At the end of the day it's a bit of a lottery what ever you do.

P.S. Cubes. Yeah, just must be my failing eye-sight. :)

  8. Did you ring all the wreckers in the stickied list?

Here in Adelaide you can pick up a 300zx airflow meter for low 300's bran new.

Prices vary considerably. I was after a stock air box quite some time ago. Adelaide Jap wanted $250, JMS wanted $40.

    R33 rwd Gearbox's range from 1100 to 1700.

    R32 rwd gearbox's range from 500 to 1000.

In the past I have seen an R32 GTR gearbox go for $700 to $1500 here in Adelaide. Depends who you call I suppose.

    $5000 for a R32 box? Hahaha typo methinks. :)

  9. You'll definitely need to pay $250, Deluxe and I pay more than that for a place on half a block in Parkside (Unley).

Even when you find a place you do like, good luck on a successful applications, with rental vacancies so low it's so damn competitive, and 2 young blokes as tenants aint real attractive to a lot of landlords.

  10. Yep as per the other thread you know I'll be there Ash (what was the name of that nice girl you picked up there last year - I can't remember I was so drunk) .... same deal as last year - a few of us lads will get there nice and early (around 11am) and save a nice big table that we can enjoy all day. Anyone coming PM me for my mobile number so I can direct you to the table.

Tracey, that was it, ran in to one of her friends on NYE actually.

Gotta get there for happy hour, 11:30 - 1:30, gonna try and drag some folks from work along and hopefully some of the missus friends too.
