  1. Interesting. I have never heard that. Unless mine is a fake, which i am quite confident it is not, V Spec IIs are ZN. Maybe V Specs (non IIs) are ZY?
  2. Hey Guys, im from NZ and I was just wondering if you could potentially give me a bit of advice. I have a couple of R32 GTRs, the white one is a fully stock R32 GTR V Spec II N1 and a unregistered track car (grey). The track car is just used as a fun club day car and pretty much only at Hampton Downs, with the occasional track day at Puke (both race tracks in Auckland). The mods are as follows - Coilovers - Slick tires - ballbearing turbos (about 290 kw at all four @1.3 bar) - JE forged pistons - Trust front pipes and Kakamoto Titanium exhaust - filters - Power FC - racing bearing - tomei sump baffle - tomei oil pump with head restrictor. - remote oil cooler and filter relocation - 400 lph walbro intake pump - Bosch 044 external pump and surge tank - Evo 8 Brembo calipers, DBA discs and project mu pads - along with other little things, like suspension arms and so on. Now, we have a bit of a problem. We are getting problems with oil when we are at the track after 5-7 laps. Oil is pissing out somewhere on the intake side of the engine. I cant locate where. Neither can my mechanic. We are running a higher oil level, to try and account for the fact that we have a tomei pump and we have slick tires at hampton downs (very hard on brakes and has a couple of big sweeping high G corners), which is hard on the G's. As yet we dont have an extended sump and we are not running an oil breather from the head. My assumption is that the head is filling with oil and it has no where to go. So it is forcing its way out of the engine somewhere. But we cannot replicate the problem on the dyno. After hours on the dyno on load, no oil leak. It only happens at the track, so must be G Force related. My mechanic is a little perplexed by it all, as he believes that if it was filling the head with oil, it should be coming out of the other side of the engine. Do you guys have any ideas of what the problem may be? Will getting an extended sump, running a more regular oil level and a oil breather tank stop the problem? Do we need to introduce some kind of head oil to sump return system? Does it even sound like it is a problem with oil in the head to you? Any help you can give me, would be much appreciated. Why does oiling an RB26 have to be so complicated!!!!!! Cheers Guys Lucas
  3. THis is soooo hot!!! Unfortunately i had to buy my N1 with everyone knowing it was one! Still love it though.
  4. So if your deflectors are cable tied on, they must be aftermarket then? Interesting though.
  5. The above photos are of the factory looking air deflectors on my N1. These photos dont really seem to to them justice. Has anyone ever seen these before as a factory fitment on an R32?
  6. Ah yes. It does certainly have a rear windscreen. Wiper delete.
  7. So I now have my R32 V Spec II N1. I picked it up on Thursday. I'm incredibly happy with it. I thought that I would share a few quick interesting things I have noticed so far with everyone. Firstly the really obvious stuff - brembo brakes - rear wind screen delete - N1 headlights - no mesh covering the intercooler. - no abs, obviously a big space in the engine bay where it would have been. - Nismo front bumper lip Some more interesting things that I didn't expect - the front caster arms have a air deflector on them to divert air to the brakes. This might be on the nismos too? The backing plates to the discs only cover half the disc, to allow for the redirected air to flow over them. - there is no rear strut brace and it was like that from the factory. The back boot panels that go over the top of the top of the rear suspension do not have any holes in them for there to even be able to put a strut brace in. - the front left bumper vents are blocked off from behind for some reason and it looks factory. - only the top of the factory airbox is painted. The bottom is just raw metal. Looking on google this is not unheard of, so probably a v spec thing I guess. - looks like a factory block. But I need to get that confirmed. Driving, it has quite a bit of lag. However runs a lot higher boost than my old stock 89 r32 Gtr. So I'm guessing it has ar 0.64 turbos. It is quite a bit faster than a stock r32 Gtr. That's it for now. I'm sure there a million other little things that I haven't noticed yet.
  8. Hahahah. The police? Good luck mate. I'm sure we can all collectively agree that that information would be incredibly valuable to those of us that actually own n1's!
  9. mjtown that was spectacular. That you for all of that effort!
  10. The front pic that you have just postes has been my desktop background for 4 years. It has been my daily inspiration to save and save to one day own this car! Im incredibly proud to have finally bought one. I cant wait till it is in my hands. When I get it, will give everyone a full run down on what it actually has. Hopefully I will be able to tell what was factory fitted vs what is aftermarket. You guys will be the first to know!
  11. You may well be right with that. To be fair, the bumber vents and bonnet lip are observations that i have made with regards to the N1s that i have seen in pictures. They all seem to have bonnet lips and bumper vents. Like this http://ucar.carview.yahoo.co.jp/model/nissan/skyline-gtr/CU0776092169/ Mine is the same
  12. Not everything in this article is correct. The overall idea of the article has the right theme, but there is alot of incorrect information. I have done an extensive amount of internet research on R32 N1s. There is almost no reliable information from Nissan regarding the specifications of the R32 N1s. There are alot of people on the internet (like this article) with opinions of what there were and what they were not. So it is incredibly hard to know what is correct and what is not. 1 - When the V Spec was released, you could purchase it in stock V Spec form, Nismo form or N1. No idea what the additional cost was to spec Nismo or N1 (would be very interesting to know if anyone could find that out). I cant completely confirm this, but it seems unlikely to me that Nissan did not sell 1 N1 during the entire production run of the V Spec (I) (which would also mean that they must have sold about 100 V Spec IIs). Dont know if you could buy a V Spec N1 with Nismo options? 2 - N1s didnt come with back coot lips, or Nismo side skirts. They are both part of the Nismo option. However it does seem as though N1s have a Nismo front lip on the bonnet and Nismo bumper vents. 3 - The specifications on the engines are really up in the air. Most people believe that N1s have an N1 block, N1 turbos (steel exhaust turbines), N1 Oil pump, N1 Water pump, N1 head and cams so on and so forth. Im sure that this is the case in the R33-34 N1s. However no where in any Nissan publication does it say any of this for an R32, that i can find. I have even had japanese friends read through alot of japanese literature to see if it is buried somewhere in there, still no joy. If anyone can confirm this either way with proof from Nissan, that would be awesome!!! Otherwise hopefully i will be able to shed some more light on it in a month or so when i get my car. But again, my car is 20 years old, so i have no idea what has been changed on it. So it will be hard for me to 100% conclusively confirm, that anything on my car is ex factory. 4- N1s all had rear seats. They were not delivered without seats. 5 - No N1s had ABS or A/C as standard, however you could definitely option A/C back into the car. Aside from that, from what i can tell, the cars were very similar to a V Spec. Aside from the bonnet lip, bumper vents and deleted rear wiper, you could not really tell them apart. On the inside, the gauge cluster surround was different, there was no radio controls, or rear wiper controls. In the engine bay, there is no ABS unit. The only way you can really tell it is an N1 is from the blue chassis plate.
  13. Yeah I removed the back boot off my track car the other day which has a genuine nismo rear boot lip. As I was flipping it over, I got covered in rusty water all over me. I have no idea where it even came from. So I can definitely see how they could promote rust. But the just look so dam good!
  14. Yeah definately looking to try and keep a piggy bank of stock parts in the shed. Want to be able to take to a car show in 20 years and have it 100% stock and mint. Its not easy though. Cause there seems to be almost no records of what they actually did and didnt come with in R32 spec, particularly v spec n1. So im doing my best to try and figure it all out. After talking to my mechanic today, I may have found a stock exhaust. Fingers crossed!
  15. Thanks again guys. Yeah i have already started to buy up quite a few original parts. I cant stand boost controllers and turbo timers littering the interior. So i have bought quite a few new interior trim pieces to replace anything that may have a hole in it from fixing things all over the place. Also things like new gear knobs, gear stick leather boot, dash surrounds, air vents, so on and so forth. I already have a set of original V Spec strut braces, a set of Nismo S Tune suspension, a set of new Nismo front and rear sway bars and a spare set of V spec rims. One of the only things that i need now is a factory plastic unpainted front lip. They are ridiculously expensive though, so im thinking of wrapping this one with a matte carbon wrap, so make it look more like the original grey one. Yeah apparently the first owner of this car opted to have A/C. Which i am stoked about. Would be hard driving a car in the summer without it. Pretty sure that i will just take the year to tidy the car up. Clean everything thoroughly, do any work that needs to be done on it, tidy the engine bay, wheel wells and under neither. I think that the sills and chassis rails will probably need some attention. But basically i want it to look super clear and as near to stock as possible. Like my old car (i have posted a folder of my old car on here) http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/gallery/album/5436-my-old-r32-gtr/
  16. THanks for that guys. Yeah i am pretty excited. Just bought it it japan from a dealer through an agent. So i guess it will be on a boat it about 2 weeks, which i guess means it is about 5 weeks away or something. Most N1s are sold through dealers rather than through the auction process. Buying off a dealer means you have alot more opportunity to actually get the car looked over properly and driven and all the rest of it. Unfortunately for me, it is going to be about a year before i can register it in NZ. I need to wait until the car is over 20 years old before i can do a standard registration on the car.
