Wouldn't you wait a year. Seems like a lot of hassle and money to repeat it all later. Your looking at the turbo cost ~500-1000 and tune ~500 + other mods (I guess you can keep those). Just drive the xr6 turbo when you get the urge for more power

Mild Steel Or Other - 90 And 180 Degree Bends
benl1981 replied to benl1981's topic in New South Wales
You think so? I thought I would get mild steel so I can weld it if required and also to put the lips on. With aluminium I cant really do that. What sort of price is the Al? I can get a 180 degree for $40 ..90 degree for $26 and $26 per metre. That is anodised mild steel. What about silicon joiners - where are they cheaper? Thanks -
WIthout a tune and supporting mods you wont make your car go faster with a bigger turbo. Maybe an Rb25 turbo would be ok for you..that's about it. Most of the ebay turbos are a lot bigger and will throw the stock computer out of wack

Hey mate. Yeah I have one out of a GTR not sure if part of it would fit GTST also. I could take pics of it and see if it suits you... Cheers Ben PS. Thanks Chris (Mwhore)

Just making up some intercooler piping for a 450x300 core. Anybody know a place to get cheap bends? Most places have to order in etc.. Making the piping up myself so have to get some silicon joiners and pipes. Also need some straight pipe. Going 2.5" I'm just goign to use mild steel in case I need to weld. Will give the outside some coats of paint to minimise corrosion. Cheers

R33 Rb25 Turbo - Excellent Condition

This is on ebay now. If anyone wants it they'll have to let me know before a bid goes down so I could pull it off. Cheers -
Good Power On Stockish Boost? Possible?
benl1981 replied to LatinR33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Most benefit you'll get is from a fuel adjuster or aftermarket computer. When I raised to 10psi I initially lost power.. -
Good Power On Stockish Boost? Possible?
benl1981 replied to LatinR33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I got about 170-175 on 10psi. 10psi is relatively safe. If you blow a turbo just buy another one for ~$350.. -
Birnie - is you new AFM working well now? Has it been tuned. 1. Is there any comparison Dodgy vs New with regards to volts at idle? 2. Anyway we can tell a bad one before the tuner has almost completed a tune I am getting a new one, making sure it doesn't have the Nissan embossing but not sure what else I can do.. Cheers fellas

R33 Rb25 Turbo - Excellent Condition

Interested in a good turbo? -
I've heard a few good things about the densos. Have you got yours in all working now. Thanks for your long post Sounds like you went through some pain.. Was it brand new off ebay? Did it come from the US? What did you search via a part no.? Cheers
-
Thanks Birnie but I'm down in Sydney. The tomei is a good thing by the sounds of it but was exploring other options for noise and cost reasons. Yeah, some people say walbro will be good up to 250rwkw others have had trouble. I would like a pump that I can attach the stock sock to. It sounds like people have used the 910 pump inside the tank. The 040 pump doesn't really have a pick up on it so people just say they move the pump lower down. I thought if I could get a pump that you can fit a hose to (still mounting internally) then I could fit the stock sock lower down to the end of the hose - similar to the tomei setup.. Cheers
-
After having issues with a 2nd hand GTR fuel pump I am looking at putting a new pump in. I see that the bosch 910 is meant to be a good pump but is it an external pump? I hear people mounting these intank where they are meant to be external?? I want to keep the pump in the tank What is the main difference between external and external - is it more to do with the pickup? Or should an external not be submerged in fuel? I see on the tomei pump they are mounted at the top of the stalk with a hose down to the filter sock. So are the tomei considered internal or external? I have heard the tomei can be a little noisy and pricey (I have already bought the seal aswell) So choices are Walbro, Bosch 910, Bosch 040 or bosch 044. I don't want to touch the wiring going to the top of the pump but obviously will need to change the connectors to the pump (that's fine). many thanks

I went the tuner today as I am about to get a tune on the R33 Mods will be enough to get to around 230-240rwkw. At the moment I am running the new GCG 450hp turbs with the old stock turbo tune. If you ease into the throttle in say 4th gear at 3000rpm then back off slowly you get a jerk. The tuner I spoke to today said you can't really tune it out. He said that on the map tracer when you back off it should jump straight up the vertical axis but it jumps through a few others causing the jerk. This is a problem with AFM cars and this type of turbo. He said all skylines with HKS2530 and GCG etc (that size turbo) do this to some degree. I mean it isn't that severe but can others try doing this on theres and see if they get the same problem. I am going to show it to another tuner and get a 2nd opinion cheers
-
Well I went to the tuner today and he reckons it is doubly as noisy as a Walbro pump and mentioned that nisy pumps are the first sign of a failing pump. I'll try and remount it on the weekend otherwise I'm going to get a genuine walbro

Edward lees about 10k overpriced last time I went in there. Maybe the competition on imports has evened it out a bit.. Bit risky. Unique Autosport were pretty good and did a pre purchase inspection for me. But it was easy because I was in the same state. Maybe you could get the dealer to drive it round to one of those types of places and get them to check it out.

Good pic! I want my engine bay to look stock though and retain factory airbox .
-
Yeah that settles that. Stick with the z32 then

Interesting Silman..hope you can get your power sorted out. Im just about to get a jusjap 450x300x76 intercooler.. A lot of people are using their 600x300x76 without probs I believe...

Have a look at the thread of silmans - he got it made right after the cost of 1 extra tune!
