  1. The car came out with an SR20 in it!!! Makes it easier..the Sr is a shorter motor. Run stock internals and better turbo, powerfc nd youll be set.. I think you can do better if you get an S14 or S13 front cut. Wack it in. You could make about 200rwkw on stock internals?? If you blow it spend $1k on another motor. I dont believe the Sr20s are any more expensive than an Rb25. If you really want the grunt - go the Rb25...
  2. Mate - they're not heavy cars - the SR20 will be make a much better balanced vehicle and give excellent power. 1JZ is a NO goer. CA18 would be ok with maybe a HKS 2510 or something. SR20 bit more torque - much better
  3. Is the 1J really a stronger motor? The stock turbos aren't very good. Do they rev out as hard as the rb25? I have a friend with a !J manual soarer...just a heavy car but goes ok
  4. Yeah I reckon you almost better on the street. More visible. FOund a park on sussex street that was 2h - good to go. Expensive though 4.40 an hour..but better than anything else. Thanks lads - most places like someone said are loading zones for best part of the day!!
  5. I have an exhaust but its pretty quiet. Hopefully it will be ok ...well see. Ill be going through early anyway. Hopefully to early for coppers.
  6. Does it get rough down there? Would they pick up on a boost controller under the bonnet?
  7. maybe your shocks are cactus
  8. Is it only $10 for 2 hours there...thats ok.. Might give that a go.
  9. Wynard end if possible..establishment is down that way isnt it??
  10. Just wondeirng if anywhere like kent or those other streeets are 2h parking zones. I am going there for a morning meeting (about 8.45am). Do the meters start from 8.30am or 9am. Need to be in a meeting for just over an hour and wondering where to park. Cheers
  11. Youd want a one way valve on the pipes from turbo wouldnt you? As the supercharger builds boost it will be pressuring up the pipes to the turbo..adding lag and not good for turbos?
  12. Thats cool - dont mind the dirt.
  13. Is parking free? Its 45 a ticket - i hope parking is included.. ill be down then - I have insurance on the car anyways, just be annoying if it got kicked up or something
  14. Bastd of a thing!!!
  15. Why did your bleed vale spike so much? Did a hose come off.
  16. if your car is still running security source all the bits and either get someone to help you assemble or pay someone...
  17. Theres a thread here in the forced induction area as a sticky. plus an article here: http://www.geocities.com/r32_jjc/ I dont know if the article mentions that you need to get an engine that has a flat area near where you are going to tapinto for the tensioner..
  18. should be safe enough to take the skyline down shouldnt it?? Mine looks fairly standard..
  19. There are a couple of different types of Rb30 engines. One is good for the conversion the other not. One from a wrecker will not be rebuilt so you are taking a bit of a gamble. Short motor means no head. An R32 head I dont think will bolt to the rb30 bottom end...
  20. I know if I blew an engine (provided head was ok) Id grab a 3L bottom end. I think I'd like to check the pistons and put new rings and big end bearings in though. I was thinking maybe if you could get a rebuilt VL/R31 short motor for about 700 bucks it might be a good way to go. I wonder if that sky guy used the RB25 oil pump? Ive heard the RB30e oil pumps arent as good. I'm not going to do it yet as my 2.5L seems fine - touchwood Like what GTST said - if you are tight you are better off goign the 3L and get a decent tuner. You wont have to run as much boost to get same power either
  21. Fair enough... I know what being a uni student is like I have heard that the Rb30 stock bottom end is good for around 280rwkw. In the other thread there is some guy that put a 270 000km bottom end in and is running 300rwkw. Seems a bit excessive but I reckon the 3L making 250rwkw would be a nicer power delivery than the 2.5L at 250rwkw.
  22. Security - care to share on what you believe the reason for the engine failure. Was it running lean you think? Bad luck mate If you can do it youself why not build up a 3L bottom end as it sounds like the head would probably be fine.
  23. 3 inches!! Why bother. Its more a hassle. Its good to hop in a car that you dont have to worry about scrappage. Even mine at stock height has a few issues with the exhaust sitting lower near the rear if car is fully laden. The cars handle pretty well at close to stock height.
  24. Hey taken it easy lately and slightly longer drives in the 33gtst. Just done 300km and I'm just under a 1/2 tank. Probably getting 9-10L/100km. Must make a difference with the throttle application. In my corolla I could deck it everywhere, use heaps of revs and not change consumption much. I am on the base map still. I also have to get a wheel alignment which could possibly make a little difference if the toe is out.
  25. I havent found my issue yet..but theres been a few good ideas here. One noise I did have Wez was a piece of rubber that is under the bonnet to sort of seal and stop water from windscreen going further into engine bay. Runs across near the shock towers. This goes a bit hard and squeeks a bit as it rubs on the bonnet. Put some tape around there or something to stop it rubbing on the bonnet. That stopped one of my noises but then you find another!! Doesnt realy sound mechanical though.
