To Hi-flo Or Not To Hi-flo, That Is The Question

Thats interesting. I wonder how long they would actually last...Probably have to cool down more than with ball bearing turbos right? If it was a bit cheaper might be worth the risk... -
The Clutch Thread - FEEDBACK PLEASE
benl1981 replied to raist60's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hey Sk - old thread and all. I have a Patrol clutch in my car.. are they heavier than the equivalent skyline HD clutch (single plate)? Seems to feel like a decent clutch but am I loosing out on a bit of response? Not that I'm going to change it but wondering what power it is good to - around 230rwkw?? Its a bit over a year old - so pretty new still Thanks -
yeah about 250...

I'm wonderingif you install a HKS 2530 and run it at about 12-14psi whether you could get away with a R34 SMIC... net about 220rwkw
-
Maybe if you get an electronic boost controller or a pressure relief valve to eliminate wategate creep. The ECU isn't going to help much. Maybe a bigger dump pipe will help (if you have standard now). Maybe you need a more responsive turbo.. An rb25 turbo or HKS one I would think would hit 9-10 pis by about 3500rpm. Depends what gear your in I guess

FAQ: Cheap NSK Idler and Tensioner Bearings location

CBC wanted a lot more for them than the company I got them through. Pays to ring around. -
Usually noisier if you put more tension on the belt.

Hey guys - I thought the firecracker sound on braking /decel was too much. I assume its just fuel going through and burning in the exhaust. I would have thought they could have set the engine management up better to sort this out. Hell, if they can control the cars output to 520hp and bump it up to 550hp at the push of a button you think they could sort that out. Very fast though. Glad somebody else got the 20% off. tickets weren't that cheap - but worth it.

To Hi-flo Or Not To Hi-flo, That Is The Question

Sounds like some guys get 200rwkw easily out of stock turbo. It appears sometimes the stock turbo gives up much earlier. Mafia - you got very nice results I've got a PFC, turbo back 3" high flow cat, R34 intercooler and want to get about 180-190rwkw safely. On the base map I'm pretty happy with the power. I've set rev limit to 5500rpm till I get the tune. I'm wondering if the tune will make it feel much faster. If it is 10-15% faster and reliable power I will be happy. -
not a bad day. I know about the sunburn though!!

FAQ: Cheap NSK Idler and Tensioner Bearings location

Chrisso - glad you got them at the good rate. I'm sure by now you found that the bearings include the pulleys. No need to push out old bearings etc There the same bearings aswell i.e same manufacturer as genuine ones. No difference in quality.. My old bearings weren't that bad - but for that price I didn't want to risk it. -
One from nissan was about 80 bucks - good quality and match marks to make sure you ge tthe alignment right. Will last over 100 k kms if tensioned correctly. You should replace at 100k so no point in having a "better" belt

put in Turn1 to get 10% off the tickets.

To Hi-flo Or Not To Hi-flo, That Is The Question
benl1981 replied to myr332's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
So was 500 for a basic rebuild? But for one with steel wheels about $1300 - $1500...that sounds pretty reasonable. -
Miller..so yoiu think yours has just got standard ize wheels but just in steel? If that was able to dish out about 210rwkw reliably I reckon that would be the go for me. Have to call GCG to see how much it is. 10 psi seems to be the max for the standard turbo and 8psi on the track. Even then it could shit itself it sounds like. With steel wheels you could probably run 12-13 psi. ANymore than that I guess you would get hot air.
-
From what I read the R34 turbine housing is slightly larger than the R33 one. Do you think this helps the R34 turbo to shit itself easier due to more hot exhaust gases. Or do you think the bigger exhaust housing is irrelevant. Would fitting a VG30DET exhaust housing to an R33 turbo be a good little upgrade? I believe this housing is the same as the 34 housing? I guess its not really a good upgrade if you have to pull your turbo off to do it. Whatwould you expect - 10-15kw gain from the bigger housing?

To Hi-flo Or Not To Hi-flo, That Is The Question

So does anybody know of a rebuild for about 1k that lets your run 13psi safely - getting about 200-210rwkw safely??? I hear the HKS 2530 spools up quiicker than the GCG - does that mean it will have full boost in 2nd by about 2500rpm. At the moment my car has 10psi by 3000rpm in 2nd. In 4th gear about 2400rpm. Pretty good really. With the PFC its much better and its only on the base map -

Is there anywhere to get the stock turbo rebuilt with just steel exhaust wheel so you could run 13-14psi safely? This I guess would give you about 200-210rwkw that you could exploit on the track etc safely without fear of it shitting itself. If I could get that for 1k - instead of say 2k for the one that can do 250+ I may consider it down the track -

Cracked Spark Plug Resulting Into Damages?
benl1981 replied to driftspec32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Get a hugely powerful vacuum - I have one at home for use with asbestos to drag away all the airborne particles. Suction is incredible. Do an oil change very soon after and filter. Hope it doesnt get into the big end bearings etc.. I guess you could get an oil sample done to see if any foreign particles in it.
