  1. I read on one site that ethanol isn't recommended for nissans...but I can't really see it being an issue. Good luck with it. All the hype at first that ethanol wrecks your car!! What a crock! that's oil companies for you!
  2. If the tuner is going to use FC datalogit does that mean it overwrites the basic map anyway so no point in doing this set up? Thanks Paul
  3. Is it really necessary to let it idle for 20mins when first installed - then run air con etc - or will it eventually learn anyway. Thanks

  5. Ive heard the N1 isn't that great for standard cars..flow rates are different etc. Nissan quoted me $160 for the real pump. I'm not sure some R33s use the same as the VL don't they - I know mine didn't - I didnt replace mine as it was in perfect nick.

  9. I know series 1 and 2 are different. I have MCP 300 coil packs on my series 1, however someone else has MCP 1330 on series 1. Is the MCP no. not important? Cheers.
  10. It would take a lot longer to do it via hand controller - at $100 - $160/hr on the dyno it may be worth going somewhere with the software

The extra features on the datalogit eg airflow voltage ramp table etc - could you ask your tuner to give you a copy on a usb drive or something so if you did loose the tune you could go back to them and get them to reload it so you dont have to start from scratch. Just wondeing if it is like a file you can store.. thanks
  12. PaulR33 - are you getting better economy than with stock computer? I'm getting my PFC tuned on Saturday, I used to get about 10L/100 on the highway but last week I got about 12L/100kms on stock computer. Commodore 3.8L's autos can do 10L/100km, my 2.5 Turbo manual I thought would be able to better this as I wasn't driving hard at all! When I get the tune done I'll check cruise AFR - they should be 14.7 due to 02 sensor - I was suprised in one of your threads to see you mentioned 12.5 at cruise? You should be in closed loop then... I was thinking due to me not being hard on the throttle much iwould have probably been in closed loop for most of the highway driving so I dont see how PFC will help much...maybe a bit more timing at low loads..??
  13. I don't think its that bad a power figure. If you think about it stock would be about 130rwkw. You haven't finished the whole exhaust, intercooler doesn't really give more power by itself, 10psi + cooler probably too much airflow for stock ecu. Mine at 10psi with with R34 cooler was goiong rich and retard. All depends on the setup but seems some seem to be able to handle more mods etc before stock ecu has a fit. I'm suprised people make 180rwkw without either piggyback or full ecu..my experience with the strock computer is that it is pretty cr*p
  14. Can you write down all your settings as a back up. Just wondering iof you can get to all of them via the handcontroller..? I'm getting mine tuned by datalogit - wondering if I could get the map off the tuner in case something happens..
  15. Turns out mine was a 2.6" - not really that bad - has 11/02 on it so I guess it is only approx 3 years old. I fput the high flow cat on (3") - Don't expect much gain because I could see through both of them nicely...

  17. Hi - just installed a 2nd hand powerfc. All is good but there is no air temp reading - do R33gtsts have an air temp sensor? Also I hear people saying their knock is around 20 or so..Mine has a bar for the knock not a number (this is on the hand controller) - whats the go there?
  18. I'm just trying to fit mine in now - none of the screws seem to line up with the old brackets. If you used some thin double sided tape on the brackets you could use that to fasten the brackets to the PFC. Just have to make sure it doesn't leave crap on the PFC..
  19. I always thought 02 sensor was 0-1V On my powerfc its reading around 12v I think. Maybe its sanother sensor somewhere. I would take it to a mechanic and get a exhaust gas analysis. Probably better if you put it on a dyno and get them to diagnose the problem. One of your sensors is stuffed probably air flow meter but a mechanic could find it quickly.

  22. can datalogit always unlock it - I'm just getting a 2nd hand PFC so unsure whether it will be locked or not. Do they usually lock it?? Sorry to chip in
  23. Hope mine is the A/C aswell. Did you track it down to that? I might take that belt off and see if it stops the noise. I cant remember if there is a seperate belt for the AC
