  1. Yeah that might help the original posters Qn.. I think resonators are only about $100 installed or you might want to get a not so straight through rear muffler. My car already has resonator - but I'd rather not go the dump if another resonator is required... just wondering whether it will make much difference. I suppose I'm looking for someone who had a relatively quiet 3.5" cat back and then fitted 3" front/dump to see what kind of difference it made. Thanks
  2. Thanks Jun - point taken about the half job. I really don't want any noticeable increase in noise, currently 3.5" cat back but fairly quiet. I was wondering whether just the front pipe maybe good trade off between power and sound..i..e will the full 3" dump/froont increase the noise level?
  3. Sorry to deviate a little. But I have a 3.5" cat back and want to go 3" dump/front (on RB25det in R33), currently standard dump and front. How much difference will this make. I really don't want it any louder! It currently isnt that noisy - it is a kakimoto cat back...my friends astra turbo with 2.5" cat back is noisier. I dont't really want to have to add anything after I fit the dump to quieten it down. Thanks
  4. Hi there. Do you need the R34 pipes etc for this mod? Or if you get the bare cooler is this adequate to add it to an R33 Gtst. Thanks
  5. Anybody know what size the standard front pipe is on a R33 RB25DET? Is it 2.5" - 63mm?? Anybody had good results with just changing the front pipe to 2.75 or 3"? Or is the dump pipe section still a fair restriction? Some firms sell just the front pipe. I can get a cheap front pipe or get one from the turbo back from Batmbl on these forums,. Thanks
  6. gates make standard timing belts also..I know a mechanic that uses them - and he is pretty good. That's about all I can add.
  7. Will I feel a difference compared to the stock filter. Car is a R33 Gtst with cat back. How much are those cleaning/oil kit. thanks

  9. What are the pipercross like as far as filtration goes? Also, what sort of oil do you buy Sydney kid for after 10000kms or so? an how much? Thanks ben
  10. Probably yours is stuck open. My gfs corolla took a long time to warm up and on the highway temp would fluctuate a lot. Took the old one out and it was visibly open. The car now sits on 1/2 on temp gauge all the time. Other things it could be is temp sending unit, but thermostat is $20 so good place to start. Take the old one out and compare its function with a new. Put it in a cup and add boiling water. If it is the same as the new one then take the new one back. They usually come in plastic that can be resealed. Also get a seal with it. Autopro I think has these. Tridon is the brand. I dont see why oil cooler would effect whether you need a thermostat or not.
  11. Hi - just a question - does the pipercross for $60 come with the oil also? Thanks
  12. Thanks for the advice. I might skip FMIC for now. I think I may be happy with 170-180RWKW which it seems the FMount isn't exactly necessary. Is the SAFC needed you think? How much do you lean it out if any , or richen. I suppose different for load and revs...
  13. Thanks again. Yes Akitive, I just want to keep it basically stock with a little more go. I like the way it goes so I don't want to introduce any lag etc. Just a bit more I'm after I don't really like my cars to be too attention grabbing. Already with 3 1/2 inch catback it is a little noisy if at idle in carpark i.e. people turn around when you drive past them sometimes I dont really want front mount because I know this will cost best part of 700- $1000 and I dont want to run heaps of boost. 170-180RWKW would be more than adequate.
  14. Thanks Warren - yeah I was thinking of getting one through him!
  15. Thanks for all the slightly differing opinions . Still not sure about the dumpy, is this the best way to go first or the high flow panel? Considering my basically stock setup.
  16. I currently have a R33 with the RB25DET, very happy with it but would like to get a little bit more out of it Current mods: 3.5" Cat back exhaust - Kakimoto or whatever it is. Solenoid constant earth on wastegate solenoid Planned mods and what I hope to gain: 3" dump/front pipe - hope to get 5-10kw and earlier spool up. Currently full boost arrives by 2500rpm in the higher gears and a little bit above that in 1st and 2nd. Will this be reduced by 300-500rpm? Will it be much more noisy? Bigger SMIC - I dont want to go front mount. I'm thinking maybe just an R34 cooler or supre. Maybe the R34 because it is easier. Maybe 3-5kw by itself Mainly to provide little bit more safety if increase boost by 2psi Cheap boost controller - increase boost by 2psi - to about 10psi Also High flow Panel filter - are these worthwile. I read something in a performance mag that they make no diffeence compared to stock paper one? Would this give me 170-180RWKW. What 1/4mile time - mid 13s you think? I have heard the ECU would need to be remapped for much above this? Could I get away with these mods? Many thanks!!!
  17. Just a quick question. Why does boost increase with an exhaust change. I realise this frees the turbo up and can therefotre spoolup quicker. But the wastegate is contolled by pressure in the inlet manifold. So if the actuator is set to 7psi then it should stay at 7psi right...with an exhaust it should just have to dump more exhaust gas. It might get to peak boost earlier but should nt exceed what the pressure the wastegate actuates at. I must be missing something. Thanks
  18. Is there some kind of universal motor you can but to fit the power window assembly. A rear one in the 4door line has given up
  19. bump. So you either have 2 good rims and 1 tyre with tread or 2 tyres and 1 rim. Tyre place should tell you for about $10.
  20. Hi there. I Have 2 rims for sale with plenty of tread. 1 rim might not be any good as when the car was on a hoist it noticebly wobbled (may have taken a hit). Most likely the tyre maybe eggd i.e. not the rim but I haven't investigated. So either the rim is bad or tyre, but rim does not appear to have taken any big hits... This was found when car was at Unique Autosport as the faulty rim made it feel like a possible driveline fault. Other rim/tyre was fine no wobble Good for rego if you need a couple of rims with good tread. Also maybe good if somebody wants to have a proper wheel instead of a space saver. Tread is not a very good brand though. Woodsun or something $80 for both with tyres In Sydney
  21. The plastic bit inside around the wheel well... THanks In syndney please
