Stock R33 Springs

bump - still for sale -
I'd say the reason you're not getting any rocks water etc up on teh pod is that the CAI pipe is a convoluted one (with "ripples" in it) and not completely smooth like a PVC drain pipe. Using PVC pipe you're more of a chance of getting water around pod area. In saying that, I been through some pretty hefty rain storms with my 75mm PVC CAI pipe that sits right up against the lower front bumper to collect air and never had an issue with water in the intake.

I ended up designing and making my own display. I've got a write up on it here : http://users.tpg.com.au/mearcat/tempgauge/

For anybodys info, I've recently designed and installed an electronic circuit which displays temperatures from four thermocouples around the car (EGT, Oil, Intake air and Ambient air) and I did some testing on temperatures. When cruising at a constant speed of anywhere between 60-110km/h, without the CAI or partition and with a K&N Pod filter, I was getting intake temps of 10+degC above ambient. Now I get intake temps (thermocouple located just before throttle body) of only 1-2 above ambient.

Geoff, Have you got any temperature figures to back up how much of a difference the FlashTec has made?
-
Geoff, How many metres did you use for all of the piping?
-
So it's like any other registered package, show your drivers license and sign for it. I was wondering how secure the whole postage process is, that's all.
-
What happens with the actual delivery? Assuming it gets through customs without getting any extra duty slapped on it, does it get delivered to your door and left there? Or do you have to sign for the package?

Blits in Qld sell them www.blitsmotorsports.com.au I think. They are about $200/pr

Not if you cover them is a some high density foam (glued onto the allly that is). If you don't use some kind of insulation material, you're simpoly delaying the effects the heat soak. Aluminium absorbs heat very quickly, but with some foam against it, the heat has to get through that too - which take a LONG time, but tends to disaapate before having effect on intake temps.

I want to do a DIY install for my intercooler on my R33 but would like to get hold of some full install instructions. It is a 600x300075 cooler - same size as the Hybrid ones. Can someone supply me with a scan of the install instructions so I can figure out what/where to cut, what to bolt the cooler onto, where to run the pipes etc?!? It'll make it a lot easier for me. 600x300x76 intercooler - not used

Sorry I haven't replied until now - I couldn't find the thread again. It arrived last Friday after getting posted from NSW on Monday arvo. For the price, it's of pretty good quailty but for some reason, they've painted in in a dull silver which makes it look like it's faded and bit dirty. From the emails I've got back from other people who've got an cooler from the same guy, a couple have said the paint come soff easy and polishes up well. The same guy actually sells a polished cooler but just not in the kit. I'll get some paint thinners and polish to it maybe this weekend and see how it goes. Oh and it's heavy (as they all are) - good representation of the thermal mass of air heat that can be transferred to it. The plumbing is simply fantastic. Three single mandrel bent pieces, aluminium, 2.5" in diameter - good size and should keep a decent throttle response. The cheapest I've seen just the plumbing kit for a 600x300 cooler is $600. I haven't got a digital camera but if anyone wants to have a look at it, PM me. I'm NOR, Yokine.

Thanks Bass Junky. But I already have one of those temp displays from Jaycar (they're quite accurate too) but I want one which can switch between several thermocouples. Maybe I'll tinker with the Autospeed idea.
-
Bass Junky - I did do a search and always do before creating a new post. Maybe I'm searching for the wrong words? I'd like it to be a permanent fixture for monitoring intake temps, ambient temps, EGT and things like that.

I'm after any product or kit that can display multiple temperatures through the one display. Ideally, I want it to have 2 or 3 temperature probes and a switch and that can select which probe temp to display on eg. an LCD display. This will be used to test temps before/after intecooler as well as ambient temps, all at teh same time without having to have 3 displays or a multimeter hanging off the dash. Anyone got any ideas, or know of anything that can do that?

Some pics : -
-Large 800 x 300 x 76 Intercooler -Brand New, never used -Core Size : 600 x 300 x 76 -Bar and Plate core (bar and plate core - generally accepted that it is more efficient then tube and fin at cooling) - 3" inlet/outlet -Nicely Welded end tanks -Rated at only 0.2 psi pressure drop at 15 psi -Core sourced from same factory that Hybrid buys from, with exact same specs. -Painted matt silver, but I guess it can be easily polished up. $450 firm - selling at a loss, but must sell soon! Prefer Perth buyers. It's easier. email or PM or whatever

Modyourcar.com.au has coolers for $550 (on special for another week though or $419) and you can get the mild steel plumbing done for about $400 with fitting at Quickfit Morley. Under $1K Any "performance" or "tuning" shops will always charge you a premium for their services
-
Given that the original jap muffler on my NA was replaced with one which was just over half the size of it, I'm not surprised it's loud though

BATMBL sells a one piece dump & front pipe for $250 and cats for $190 sml body/ $280 big body. I'd say that's pretty cheap.

Two more things: 1) I have emailed the d2power guy in the attempt in negotiating a group discount but he has said that given the low price of the coolers/kits as they stand (which I admit is pretty good) he would need a lot of people in a group buy to offer any decent discount. So basically that's a no to group buy discounts. 2) I have got email responses from 5 people so far who have received intercoolers &/or kits from d2power and a few of them have mentioned that they are actually a Hybrid intercooler. All of them have said it has very good quality construction and some mentioned good pipe fitment for those who got a kit over just a cooler. I bit the bullet today and purchased a intercooler and plumbing (red anodized aluminium) kit for the R33. I will pay for that this week sometime and hopefully receive it within a fortnight. If anyone wants to have a look at the kit once I have it, PM or email me.

Kym - I was quoted $300-400 from Quickfit in Morley to do intercooler plumbing. The difference in price was depending on whether the cooler was mounted or not... I'm pretty sure that was in mild steel. RB20LagWagon - 2.5" or 3" for cooler piping really doesn't make much of a difference. It's been discussed in length before with a lot of tech figures and numbers to back it up. The only thing I can suggest is from turbo to cooler, use the diameter of the turbo outlet. From cooler to manifold, use the diameter of throttle body.
