What a coincidence! I've recently started making a fabbing a FULLY SEALED airbox for my R33. Some of you may know of the gauge pods that I make, but in a lull with getting cars and designing new gauge pods over the last month I've started doing an airbox in fibreglass - that uses the factory bolts to hold the box and the pod in place. I have a front mount intercooler so this won't suit a car with the factory snorkel or factory intercooler return piping. I have a mate who wants one for his standard intercooler fitting as well and who knows - I may end up selling them if there's interest I'm moving slowly on the fabrication and have only done the main box part and no lid so it's not finished, but I have no problems in posting some pics if anybody wants. The lid will be sealed for my design but will incorprate the use of the factory snorkel for the other one. -Alan

I'm after free gauges - basically gauges that are stuffed and good for the bin. If it's free, let me know and I'll talk about payment for shipping
-
If anyone out there has any 52mm of 60mm gauges that are just completely stuffed and good for the bin, let me know. I don't car whether they have any internals or not as I won't be ressurecting them, as long as the exterior is in reasonable shape. I will be using them so trial some gauge pod designs. Anywhere in Australia? - I will pay for postage. Thanks! -Alan

Malz, like Super Cheap currently don't have any specials on batteries. Super Cheap are offering a free Hyrdometer with each battery sold. Weeeeee - like I'd need that! It should be asked - is it possible to get a decent discount on car batteries!
-
Does anyone know of places like Repco or Super Cheap are having a 25% off everything sale soon - whether it be end of financial year sale or not. I remember one of those stores had last year but can't remember when it was. I'm after a new battery and am prepared to wait a week or more if I know I get a good battery cheaper - and probably some other parts as well including an air compressor.
-
I'm getting the single & double pods fabricated soon for anyone who is interested. They will be available by August.
-
Sorry guys - forgot to update the thread. The R32 & R34 single gaueg pods are now ready. $79 - contact either myself ([email protected]) or shy180 (JustSR.com) for sales. I only have about 12 pods available at the moment, and they are available in either dark grey or black. More will be in stock by August. -Alan

Back onto the subject at hand ... The tunnel... From Main Roads Bulletin web page : "TUNNEL TEMPORARY CLOSURE - Northbridge (Graham Farmer Freeway) Tunnel closure The Northbridge Tunnel will be closed during off-peak times to enable an upgrade of tunnel management and traffic control systems. The planned upgrade is required to keep up with advances in technology and minimise any future problems and possible tunnel closures due to system breakdowns. This is in line with the aim to keep Perth's Northbridge Tunnel one of the safest in the world. The upgrade will require the periodic closure of both the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the tunnel to install and test the new computer systems and associated software." But as yet, there are NO cameras in the tunnel that are specifically used for speed detection.

That's what I like to hear How long have you had it installed? Also - how much are the clutches for R33? and how much also to do get installed? Prices will differ depending on where it was done I assume.
-
I might be up for a new clutch as mine is acting up a bit - shuddering and squealing like a b!tch - more than usual but not sure exactly what's up until I get the gearbox dropped. I was wondering whether there is anyone with a Xtreme 7 or 9 puck ceramic clutch in their car that I could take for a drive just to see exactly what it drives like? I live in Heathridge (NOR). I've heard some good things about them but I'd like to speak to someone who has upwards of 300+ rwhp (as does my r33). -Alan

The clock replacement would easily fit a S-AFC, but not sure whether you'd need a single or double gauge pod to fit properly. They are 52 mm(L) x 126 mm(W) x 18 mm (D) so I'll check tonight and advise... -

The shipping charge is the $5 for the single A-pillar pods and $8 for the clock replacement pods (because they're a bit bigger). This is for anywhere in Australia. -Alan -

'mearcat' Gauge Pods For The Stagea
MearCat replied to MearCat's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Prices haven't changed from the post from a few weeks ago, but to reiterate : Single gauge pod (base of A-pillar) - $79 Single gauge pod (clock replacement) - $95 Double gauge pod (clock replacement) - $109 The pods are fixed down by double sided tape, which as long as you buy 3M heavy duty or something good like that and not some cheapie stuff, it will hold it no problems at all. Edit : In fact thinking about it more, the way the three Stagea pods sit into the clock "hole", you could actually get away with something like velcro (as used with dashmats), but it is up to the individual. -
'mearcat' Gauge Pods For The Stagea
MearCat replied to MearCat's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Ska - The final product is undercoated and pre-painted matt black. At this point, I am getting 15 of each of the three designs made. If there enough demand to get more fabricated, I will get them done while I'm getting all my other designs moulded. Since a lot of the designs I have come in a single and double, I was contemplating setting up an exchange (trade-in) type system. If you want to upgrade to a gauge pod that holds more gauges, you can get 50% cash back on the orginal one (as long as it's is good condition) and buy the new one at full price. Any comments on that would be appreciated. -
'mearcat' Gauge Pods For The Stagea
MearCat replied to MearCat's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Once the clock has been popped out, there not a huge amount of space in the dash opening. The gauge pod are also angled towards the driver which also reduces the amount of space to work with. I've looked back at all the photos I took during the protoyping process and I believe that the profile (height) of the clock replacement pods couldn't be reduced by any more than 5mm and still comfortably fit a 60mm gauge height & depth. -

Indeed they are. All my gauge pods are designed to fit up to and including 60mm gauges (and approx 40mm depth) www.mearcat.com.au is now available and has all the current photos of the Stagea (and other) designs but the online store will not be launched until I get more of a range available for purchase. -Alan
