  1. UPDATE : I have had word from the fabricator today - The Stagea gauge pods are due to be finished next week
  2. Good find. I've beena mamber for years and there was some good stuff in 2006, but I think has gone downhill a little since that they started rehashing old articles late 2006. 342Four - I agree - I also wish they did it for Silicon Chip.
  3. Thanks Lauren but I am getting married in 2 1/2 weeks time so gauge pod work will be halted for a while. I have been incredibly busy and have a total of 31 designs that have been prototyped. I just need to raise the funds to get all moulds completed, but all Skyline models are a priority I will be in contact if I need the Liberty again
  4. The single gauge pod for the R34 clears the tweeter, so it is suitable for any R34 (sedan or coupe). The double however does not clear the tweeter so a slightly modifed R34 double gauge pod will have to be prototyped. The reason for this tread is to determine exactly which cars my gauge pods will fit correctly.
  5. I have seen a couple of R34 sedans and they both have a tweeter in the bottom of the a-pillar, but I was wondering whether - Do all R34 sedans have them? - Do any R34 coupes have them? Any info appreciated...
  6. After many months of lamenting of not being able to source an R34 coupe, I had one for this weekend and managed to make a single AND double gauge pod. The bad news is that due to lack of funds to get they won't be available for about 2-3 months. In the last 6-7 months I have 31 gauge designs that I have made for various model cars and they all take time and money to mould and fabricate. See link in the first post for website link & pics of the R34 coupe designs though. I will post updates when the Skyline pods will become available. -Alan

  8. Thanks to meanman, I had his Ceffy over the weekend and made and single and double gauge pod for (up to & including) 60mm gauges. Pics of the two designs can be found http://people.aapt.net.au/~mearcat/Pod/ Due to the shape of the dash that drops away towards the door, the RHS of the pods look a little weird when it's in painted in the contrasting blue undercoat, but from previous experience it's not as obvious once its painted grey/black. I have loaded up my fabricator with heaps (21) other gauge pod designs for other cars so lead times have blown right out. I expect these designs will not be available for at least couple of months. -Alan
  9. Sorry - but I don't intend on making designs of that type.
  10. I am moving house soon so prices slashed - updated in first post.
  11. UPDATE : The fabricator has received the box of pods a few days ago and I have notified them that the Stagea gauge pods have priority over other designs. Moulding and fabrication is due to begin late next week with the delivery of the small batch arriving 1st/2nd week in March. Prices are now confirmed and are as follows : Single gauge pod (base of A-pillar) - $79 Single gauge pod (clock replacement) - $95 Double gauge pod (clock replacement) - $109 Please PM or email me at Alan.Mears@honeywell.com to confirm your pre-order. -Alan
  12. I found the same when I fitted my FMIC. No noticable power gain but intake temperatures didn't spike as much after multiple runs. Once the intercooler water spray was fitted, the intake temps dropped and remained much more stable allowing for (as Trust33 said) a more consistent power level. Oh and btw - the intercooler spray user manual has been updated now with pic of LEDs in the controller box http://people.aapt.net.au/~mearcat/Kits
  13. Please email me your details and I will note them down so that receive the 15% discount (even if you order in early March). -Alan
  14. Sorry - I don't mean to hijack the thread. The controller does come boxed, but I forgot that I haven't put any photos on the web page or in the manual. I will do this in the next day or two and update both page & manual. And yes it has lights to show Power On, when the two configurable items are tripped (AFM voltage & intercooler core temp) as well as when the pump is on (whether tripped by the controller or via the manual override switch)
  15. Well the intercooler spray controller I was designing and building has been finished, tested and ready to buy if any wants one. See http://people.aapt.net.au/~mearcat/Kits for some very postitive test results thanks to Ian (ID : CEF11E). It basically replicates the well-known Autospeed intercooler spray controller functionality but for HALF the price and half the box size too.
  16. If anyone is interested, check out http://people.aapt.net.au/~mearcat/Kits which has my intercooler spray controller kit, user manual and some test results which I've recently got back from a fellow SAU member CEF11E. I do not sell nozzles but the TECPRO ones look like a great quality option to provide a nice cone spray mist. -Alan
  17. I reckon the Autospeed intercooler spray controllers are way overpriced. $240 for a boxed kit (with no pump/nozzles) is a bit much! I decided to design and build my own "smart logic" controller (and have just started selling them for $120) and fits in a box about half the size too. My design and programming covers about 95% of the same functionality as the Autospeed and has the same cooling results. No matter what system you use however, the nozzle choice is crucial to get a good mist spray across the intercooler.
  18. If that's the case, then there should be no issues with quality. I will be boycotting BP whereever I can now and buy 98 RON from Peak or Caltex.
  19. And also - who does Peak & Caltex source the 98 RON fuel from? Peak do not have their own refineries.
  20. HOORAY!!! The box with the Stagea (and other) gauge pod designs has been located and is due to sent on to it's rightful addressee this week. For me, that's a HUGE worry that has been resolved - that one box contained well over 2 months worth of full-time weekend work. For you guys & gals, it means that the pod fabrication can begin soon. I sincerely apologise to anyone who has been put out by this delay, but it was out of my hands and could do nothing until the box was located. I will post updates as they happen... -Alan
  21. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find anyone willing to loan an R34 coupe as yet, but I am trying hard to find someone and hope to have one within a couple of weeks. Updates will be posted as the designs progress
  22. Until end of Feb, these kits will available for 15% off - a saving of $75. the full kit including the main unit and 4 thermocouples is available for $420. Email or PM me if you are interested.
  23. Many apologies to anyone who has been waiting for these pods to be finished. I shipped a box of pod prototypes for the Stagea and R32/R34 to the fibreglass fabricator. Unfortunately, the box with all the pods has gone AWOL. Thanks to some misinformation by Australia Post, tracking is not actually available even though I paid for it! So hopefully the pods will turn up soon and fabrication can begin.
  24. Thanks for those links - I saw the carbon one but not the others. Translating and browsing Yahoo JP is not that effective sometimes. Shipping within Japan for a couple of those pods works out to be about $93-99, so those pods you've quoted will be well over $100 by the time they get to Australia. I would consider that to be a comparative price to the pods I am considering fabricating. And thanks for the mountains of sarcasm (and support???) I would still like to move ahead and prototype some gauge pods for the Cefiro - and price them accordingly
