Nissan - like Porsche, tend to underrate their cars. Better to impress their customers than to dissapoint. It's not just car manufacturers that underrate their products. You'll find that the majority of 'Brand' name products in the electronic departments also underrate their products.

Gtr Vs 911 Turbo Around A Track In Car Magazine
skyline_man replied to skyline_man's topic in R35 GTR
I think that 997 Porsches are one of the best looking cars out there. A very unique and distinctive style that grows on you the more you look at it. The 997 models actually look a lot better in real life than on film or picture. The same can be said about the GTR. When it first appeared, i thought it was ugly. But the more i see it, the better it looks. The R8 on the other hand is the exact opposite. It started from looking good to looking quite ugly. Somehow, it doesn't look proportional. Even Jeremy Clarkson agrees with me. And for most other supercars? Well they just look like Ferrari ripoffs. -

Actually, the driver, Ben Barry has driven the Porsche 997T before. He set the fastest time for the 997T on the Rockingham short circuit. -
Gtr Vs 911 Turbo Around A Track In Car Magazine

If the badges were swapped, then i guess you and Roy will prefer the GTR? -
A fresh of the boat GTR lands in England and gets pitted against the mighty 911 turbo.
-
Yeah, but you have to rev the shit out of it to get those hp figures!! And besides, Hondas have shit all torgue - even my scooter makes more torque than a honda!! Ahahaha..
-
yeah, lets go and get a piece of shit front wheel drive Honda (formula 1 inspired technology here, like how their ad says) deck it out with a sound system, body kit and skyline wannabe rear lights and drive around with RNB music on full blast like some African American wannabes! hahaha. Typical fobs!! AHahaha. Anyway seriously, i do agree with you in some part about the inline 6. I6's are easier to mod because there is more room on either side of the engine and they do sound better than V6's. But at the end of the day, you have to admit that the VR38DETT is a far superior engine to the RB26 period.
-
West, you're just like one of those fobby asians who still thinks that Honda's are really fast because of the V-tec engines. HAHAHA. Trust me i know because im asian myself and i know how asians think.

I doubt that this car can match the GTR's performance around the Ring. Reason is that being a v10, it lacks torque compared with turbo charged cars such as the 911 and GTR. And torque is more important in regards to fast lap times than horsepower. Thats why you don't see Ferrari's with fast times around the Ring. I doubt that the LF-A can even match the performance of the current F430 Scuderia - which is a stripped out F430. The LF-A looks more like a luxurious supercar than a stripped out racer, and Lexus is known as a luxury car manufacturer than a fully stripped out pure performance car. But hey, it's just all speculation at this time.

Is is it just me or does the rear guards seem to be pumped out a bit more? If that is the case then this monster would look awesome in real life. Very wide presence and quite intimidating.

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Featu...rticleId=123940 Interestingly, this is the same article in the Top Gear magazine! Wonder who's plagiarizing here??!!

Correct me if im wrong, but the Aussie guy that test drove the GTR was from MOTOR magazine? As i can recall, guys at MOTOR magazine have always been biased towards the GTR's - they don't like GTR's. There was one time, they tested the R34 with other cars and complained that it's handling around the track was more annoying than revolutional. Thats because they didn't know that a GTR is meant to be driven hard to bring out the best in it. They were driving it around the track like pussies. However, WHEELS magazine have always loved GTR's. They were the ones that gave it the nickname 'Godzilla'. Anyway, i remembered an article where they tested an R34 N1 against a Monaro GTS or somethin and they said that the GTR was "the best car they've ever driven - no kidding".
-
I thought the GTR used Bilstein suspension and was tuned by the guys at Bilstein? Anyway, there is no way the GTR with its weight can lap the Nurg in 7:38 with softer suspension. Nissan engineers knew that and they had to compromise the softer suspension in order to get the lap time they were after.
-
In that case, you should see a road crew following every commonwhore as well?!
-
3.5 out of 5? They've got to be kidding!! I challenge them to find a performance car that is technically as advanced and fast as this GTR for the same price. These morons are absolutely stupid. Trying to sound smart by nitpicking little things like comfort and even the paddle shifters on the steering column instead of the wheel. I mean, they dont know how to drive for shit. Other journalists from the UK had no problem with the paddle shifters cos they found that you can shift up or down while turning by using your little finger. But oh no, the Aussie journols are too stupid and can't figure that out. These fools had to take their hand off the wheel in order to shift while turning.

found some more recent reviews from Journals in Europe. If these European journals are impressed with the GTR, than i guess the whole world would be. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/01/british...ocks/2#comments British auto journos declare Nissan GT-R dogs bollocks "The first round of reviews hit the 'Net yesterday in what was apparently a Euro-only embargo on driving impressions of the Nissan GT-R. The jurors from AutoExpress, Car and the Telegraph all came away from the drive with one resounding statement: this thing is fast! Adding that the brakes are the most impressive of any production car currently on sale. Lofty praise, no doubt. While Car could barely contain its enthusiasm, AutoExpress and the Telegraph seemed to provide a more honest critique of the GT-R as a whole. AE's Oliver Marriage and Car's Gavin Green had some diverging viewpoints on how the GT-R handles low-speed cruising, but both recommend that jaunts around town are best when the seven-speed gearbox is left in "D." AutoExpress' scribe and the Telegraph's Andrew English were less than impressed with the ride quality of Nissan's new supercar, despite the dampers being set to "comfort" mode, with English saying that "even a Porsche 911 GT3 rides better." A few other choice quotes include Green saying that the GT-R is "quick enough to make a Porsche 911 Turbo feel unexciting," continuing, "Quite simply, the new GT-R is the world's most multi-faceted supercar... An M3 beater? Easily. M5? Think higher. This car is faster, more high-tech, sharper, more capable." We absolutely, positively can't wait to get behind the wheel."

It does surprise me. How can white be more popular than silver, black or red? white is such a boring colour - especially for a sports car. This GTR in red looks awesome!
-
Absolutely. I hope they make a killing and take away most of the European car company's customers such those who who buy porsches. That way, Porsche would lower their price and make their cars more affordable and Nissan can go all out crazy with their Vspecs, Nismo versions.

Even a noob with a half a brain would know that this is the best value for money performance car in the world. I am not surprised at all.

Are Bilsteins Any Good?
skyline_man replied to skyline_man's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
a guy is selling 4 of them with springs for $400 second hand in good condition. Is it worth it? They are blue. I thought bilsteins are normally yellow - not blue??? -
Hi all, my R33 is in desperate need of some new shocks and a friend of mine told me to buy Bilsteins cos they are the best. So my question is this, does he know what he's talking about and what is the price range im looking at for a set of lowered Bilstein shocks? I don't need adjustables, just normal lowered shocks. Thanks

got my car tuned by Tim Possingham from Adelaide's Tilbrook dyno centre the other day. My car is a 1996 GTST. Anyway he showed me the print out which shows that my car is putting out 200rwkw at only 10.5pounds of boost. Is this possible? The mods to my car include: -power FC -front mount intercooler -3" apexi N1 exhaust turbo back -K&N air filter -blitz sbc-id electronic boost controller He also didn't install any fuel pressure regulator. Anyway, i'm kinda sus cos the car doesn't seem to feel that much more powerful then before when i didn't have it tuned.
