Hi Kiwi RS4T They do make custom manifolds but not at the same price as an off the shelf unit. My project is bit of fit and see so it's probably going to be the better option to do it myself and up skill myself also. At least then I can make all my own intercooler pipes and fab up the sump etc And if I stuff it up I'll just do it again Cheers

Well after a lot of searching around it looks like I will have to have a complete custom manifold made to fit my build as the standard off the shelf manifolds won't fit. I can weld fairly well with stick, oxy and mig but never had a go at Tig welding so I'm off to purchase a Tig welder, collector etc and going to do it myself. Plus I can use the Tig for other jobs on my project Thank you everyone for your advise FJRB25

Hi GTRPSI I agree 6 boost are a great manifold and are lifetime warranted but there are manifolds out there that look the goods but do they perform. Sort of why I asked the question in the first place. competition is good for our manufacturers as it keeps prices reasonable and keeps them innovating and creating new products. I am really surprised a magazine like Zoom hasn't jumped on board to test out a few of these manifolds, what do the drift teams use, do they make there own or does everyone just go buy 6 boost and don't exploit different products potential advantages. May be I am just someone who asks too many questions but I like to think out side the box, I'm not a tight ass when it comes to spending money but I want value for money and if a product will do what I want and is just as good quality for a better price then I will buy that one. As you would appreciate doing a build is not a cheap exercise and saving $300 here and there can make a huge difference between a $30 k build and a $50k I'm not looking to build a track car or do time attack or boost upto 40 psi so I'll do some more research and see what I come up with Cheers

Found these pictures or Rex Kelway manifolds

I do think your seeing things, your eyes are better than mine that's for sure, I swear once I turned 40 a couple of years ago my eye sight went with it. Had to have a double look after you mentioned it. Be really interested to see how your new manifold goes, I'm sure it will be good, Kyle makes a very good product. Rex Kelway is a fella from SA, he has a fair few postings on the Nissan s14 site I think it is I will have a hunt around for some pics of his manifolds on Friday, they also look quiet good quality for a similar price as the AT Performance manifolds and 6 boost but there are no reviews that I can find, just happy customers. Would be really interested to see a comparison between a heap of manifolds that have been tested on the same engine with dyno results Etc.

Ah yes I see what your saying Hmm maybe forgot to weld it I'd say, I'm ringing him tomorrow and have asked for some more pictures of his RB manifolds. Also spoke to rex kelway I think his name was today and his manifolds are competitive to these At ones Have you come across these Rex kelway units in your travels?

Hi nicksamaniac Love your work mate, doesn't look too bad at all and for a good price. Thank you for the feedback re your manifold, if your doing a lot of 4x4 in soft sand that would give the manifold a real good workout as well as testing your cooling system. A lot of weight to push around and big tires too. Cheers

Mr H I looked at a manifold today which looks like a Hybrid but possibly isn't and basically looks like a steal copy of the Chinese SS ones
-
$300 is $300 Thank you for your question to which I say crack free but I am after people who have experience with the other manifold's
-
These are the AT performance manifolds for$900 occasionally cheaper when he has specials
-
GTRPSI I'm hearing what your saying an I agree, However if everyone purchased 6 boost and that was it then where would we be besides being happy and crack free? There are other quality products out there and I was really interested in peoples experiences with them, if they are any good etc etc We all know 6 boost are the best Thank you Kiwi for the info I will check out your post Cheers
-
Hi all Been a good read so far and as I am in the process if looking for a manifold I thought I would ask a few questions. Now I know that the 6 boost that Kyle makes are a great unit $1260 and the Brae unit $1100 + also looks the goods but there are other manifolds out there that are cheaper that also look the goods but not much in the way of feedback. Out of interest sake has any one had experiences with At performance manifolds D1 stable manifolds Sinco custom manifolds Hybrid performance manifolds Cheers

Wow got some cool rides there. I used to have a fj45 ute with a cammed 350 chev and that went real well, your troopy would fly and that rat rod looks like something right out of mad max, bloody awesome! Getting back to your FJ, I was going to go down the road if sticking in a 186 red motor and chucking on a turbo but by the time I worked everything out it was going to cost me a fortune. If your interested have a look at a site called (turbo 202 ) they have a lot of the info you would need. The contributing factors as to why I went for the rb25 DET and not a turbo 186 red motor 1. Easy to get a hold of 2. Compared to rebuilding a red motor it is cheaper to just go and buy another RB 25 if you blow it up 3. Twin over head cams 4. Already injected, if you run a Carby on the 186 turbo it can be a bit of a pig to drive and easy to melt things. 5. A shit load of aftermarket performance parts 6. Engine is already set up to run a turbo 7. Fairly strong bottom end good for 400 whp reliable 8. Awesome power and easy to get more 9. Newer technology, not 40-45 years old 10. Let's face it the RB engine sounds so sexy !!! The reason I went for the Rodtech is for a similar reason, I had 2 hr front ends that I could have used but once you start looking for bigger brakes and trying to match different stub axles etc it can be a right pain in the ass, especially if you want to go front mount rack n pinion steering. I figured $4500 delivered to my door here in Perth with new rotors, calipers, pads, adjustable coil overs and a reconditioned front mount RnP and fully engineered was not a bad deal. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of people using a HR front end but I think its too much hassle. The other thing is that the new N.C.O.P states that we can't go any bigger than 2.7L for a turbo engine in the old FJ Holden, something to check for in the NT to see if you guys have to comply to. Have a look at the FXFJ forum, I am a member there also and there is also a lot of info on there and everyone is fairly helpful. All the best with the build and I am looking forward to seeing and hearing how your build is progressing Cheers Paul -

That's what I started to do also but figured I was spending the money twice in some spots Thought bugger it and started to go the whole hog An rb25 is a much better choice to fit as the engine lays over about 8-10 deg and will clear the vt cylinders Good luck with your build -

Ah I see I am fitting the rb25det and licensing here wanted the twin system like in the vt so if you loose the front or rear they don't affect the other. Also you may not have enough volume to accurate the Vt brakes properly. Licensing here in Wa like to see you use the complete brake set up from a car, mainly because if you don't then you need to brake test it. I am using the vt pedal box and vr front and vt rear discs and they still want to do a brake test. Have you spoken to NT licensing and a brake specialist regarding your setup. Also you will be needing a sump from a GQ pootroll I think it is, they came out with the RB 30 petrol and a RD 28 Diesel engine and have a rear bowl sump which you will have to modify a bit due to the bowl sitting down a fair bit but a shit load easier than making up a new sump. And I think that using the hr front end will raise your engine up an extra 120 mm or so. The front end that I have is a very similar profile to the original FJ front end allowing the engine to sit that 120 mm lower than the hr front end -

Haven't tacked the mounts into place yet, recently had a new addition to the family so it is sort of on hold at the moment. I do know that I will need to recess the firewall around 2-3 inches to give clearance for the thermo fan and radiator to be fitted in front of the engine That is what is controlling where the engine will be mounted I am not sure what you are going to be doing about your brakes but many fJ folk use the vt common whore pedal assembly The assembly will hit on the inlet manifold and that's why I asked winter what his dad did and didn't really get the answer we were looking for Paul -

Hi Winter I would be interested in finding out if he has a flip front on it? A fella I know over in Melbourne is having a few dramas etc with the brake master cylinder and the inlet manifold. Be good to get some info from your dad for this mate of mine -
