  3. interesting point. I never primed the cooler on my 180 and if you hadnt started it for ages then sometimes you would get a little rattle from the timing chain when it lost oil for that fraction as the cooler/lines etc filled up. And like you said there is that small volume of oil still in there you cannot get out when you change the oil. If you crank the motor you wont get oil pressure no, but it will pump some around, there a postive displacement so the oil has to go some where. Im interested to know what anyone recomends on this as i want to put an oil cooler on my stagea and i dont wana kill a expensive motor either.

  5. if i get there with the car needing to be run in etc will be the first track time ive had when i wasnt drifting So i have alot to learn about this thing called grip?? calling my engine builder now to see how long!!
  6. if you plan on doing cams events like hill climbs etc check the cams regs regarding catch cans. They need to be specific size etc by engine capacity and whether there externally vented or return to the sump. Of the top of my head i cant remember the specs.

  12. Yeah confused the shit out of us for ages. Got it scanned with consult, came up with ignition fault. I think the lights come on as a fault code. R34's have a full body control computer the whole lot. Any mechanic or auto sparky with a snap on scanner should be able to scan it to. Id say you have a dodgy coil. If i was you, get a set a splitfires and chuck them in.

  14. my wifes 34 did the same thing. Coilpacks are probly on the way out. Get it scanned with consult and will tell you straight away. Hers did it on start up and whilst driving, 2 coil packs where stuffed.

  17. hi guys ive done a search and also spoke to alot of people and i seem to be getting two answers... which garret turbo is the closest to N1? the gt2560r or the gt2860-?? ive been told the 2860 is the N1 equiv then also that its the 2530 equiv? i want roughly 300rwkw with the max response available. Whats best? thanks
  18. im doing this exact process right now on my 260rs... Ive gone a full rebuild with pistons rods etc thats cost me about $7000 + R and R turbo's have gone garret GT2860-5 approx $2800 clutch im going a single plate as its a daily and dont wont a real bitey clutch approx $1000 then normal PFC, injector's, afms... yet to get fuel pump so another $2500 there... my car has HKS coilovers so sus should be fine. Im just going upgraded pads for now. im aiming for a safe reliable 300rkwk, but this combo could easily push more if i wanted it to.

  21. hey guys im getting the motor rebuilt on a 260rs i baught and unfortunatley the mechanic has informed me the turbo's are worn and there worth replacing, i dont see the point in putting stock turbo's on so im after some R 34 N1's or something similar. Dont want anything i need to mod things to fit. thanks Neil
