Engine is not ruined, but if you continue to push it and the car continues to ping you can do some serious damage, in terms of melting a piston, blowing a hole in the piston, dropping a piston ring and so forth. Get it checked and sorted ASAP if you don't know what your doing, take it to someone else who does.

Do you put good fuel in it? Have you changed the plugs recently? Have you checked the oil recently? Have you changed the oil recently? Has the fuel filter every been changed? Check a few of these things first, before we get into the more serious stuff. Ping is also known as detonation or pre-ignition. Usually caused from over boost, mis-fueling, mis-tuning and inadequate cooling. Boost one doesn't apply to you as your NA. Here are some quick definitions to help you understand; Detonation Detonation is the spontaneous combustion of the end-gas (remaining fuel/air mixture) in the chamber. It always occurs after normal combustion is initiated by the spark plug. The initial combustion at the spark plug is followed by a normal combustion burn. For some reason, likely heat and pressure, the end gas in the chamber spontaneously combusts. The key point here is that detonation occurs after you have initiated the normal combustion with the spark plug. Pre-ignition Pre-ignition is defined as the ignition of the mixture prior to the spark plug firing. Anytime something causes the mixture in the chamber to ignite prior to the spark plug event it is classified as pre-ignition. The two are completely different and abnormal phenomenon. Detonation Unburned end gas, under increasing pressure and heat (from the normal progressive burning process and hot combustion chamber metals) spontaneously combusts, ignited solely by the intense heat and pressure. The remaining fuel in the end gas simply lacks sufficient octane rating to withstand this combination of heat and pressure.

Yeah also check the sticker to make sure its a Z32 AFM, that would get you off to an easy start. Also Z32 is larger in diameter to standard, so a bit of alteration in the piping would have had to have occurred when installed?

f*k they are mint!!!! I thought 1 set for 1k, I would have paid for them now if it was. Free bump, good luck with the sale.
-
What ECU are you running and how do you know its the Z32 it self? Could be an issue with the tune it self, but will help to know what ECU you are running..

Does it have the option to be adjusted for variable torque settings, so say 30 front/70 rear or 50 front/50 rear?

I'm pretty sure this applied to RB20/25 manifolds if I am correct, because I know this is how it works on an RB30 manifold.. But someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Basically because of the size of the turbo, front cover/housing, it will either touch the manifold or just not even get close, which means the flange on the turbo cant sit all the way up to the manifold.. A spacer plates sits between the turbo and the manifold flange to allow the turbo to sit a little lower down from the manifold, allowing clearance for the front cover to have space between it and the manifold it self. Hope that makes some sense, if it doesn't I will have to bust out bad ass Microsoft Paint! And you don't want that shit! Abu

New Fuel Pump! Is It Needed Near 200rwkw?
abu replied to r32matt's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Fair point!! Might just order my self a new fuel pump right about noooww.. -
Will need a spacer plate to clear the manifold. But yep, can be low mounted.

Hahah I used to be able to get mine to do some standstills and a few little fishys in a straight line on wet grass! Thats riding the brake but and also clutch popping. Could get some 2nd gear action happening too lol They pop mono's and shit heaps easy, enough power to have some fun with.

New Fuel Pump! Is It Needed Near 200rwkw?
abu replied to r32matt's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Oh and just a quick input about injectors. They will be fine to about 215-220rwkw, once you exeed that or get near that its recommended that you change them as they get high into the duty cycle, which means there more prone to failure. R32 GTR injectors are a good replacement, but for a few hundred more you can grab a new set of NISMO 740cc injectors, about $500-$600. -
New Fuel Pump! Is It Needed Near 200rwkw?
abu replied to r32matt's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Best to change it man. WALBRO fuel pump is like $130ish, very good pump. I think there is someone with an R33 making about 300rwkw with one? GTR pump is also a good upgrade. Its a similar price to a WALBRO pump, but 2nd hand obviously. There a good size pump and will serve you fine. BOSCH 040 pump is a slightly larger pump, but worth more like $180. Also a good brand pump good for big power. Personally running a GTR pump and aiming for about 220-240rwkw which I think it should be fine with.. But I only bought it because I got it cheap. Would go with a WALBRO if I did upgrade as they are good value for money, just make sure you get an original one. Just my input, hope it helps. -
Yeah thats good. I reckon AFMs are more trouble then they are worth. A MAP sensor would be much more reliable in that sense. Well thats my personal opinion anyways lol

Oh there mad fun man! I used to have one back earlier this year, stacked it fkn good haha But there fairly strong, and go alright. A lot of after market parts available for them too man. Have fun with it!

Apparently the organic clutch is supposed to feel like a stock clutch with a tad bit more weight to it. Sounds about right to me man.

Hahah thanks for rubbing it in!

Thats quick as. Double my work internet speed!!!.. You'd think a Government organization would have faster internet

If your a confident manual driver man go with a EXEDY 5 PUK BRASS BUTTON. Can take up to 300rwkw and will save you time later when you drive it hard, or push the car for some more rwkw. That way you wont have to worry about it breaking, but might strain and blow the box first lol Doesn't take that much getting used to, if you drive manual frequently you will pick it up in a few days. By which dealer in what state?
-
Sold pending payment.
-
Yep thats a good idea actually! See if that works, saves you buying one and that not being the problem. You could probably source a 2nd hand one from the forums for fairly cheap. Will keen an eye on the for sale section. If I see one I will post up the for sale thread link.

Very mint car man, looks tough as. Reliable power, and quality modifications. Definately something I would consider if I was looking t buying an R32. White is very rare to come by, espeically one with a sun roof. Good luck with the sale. Abu

Is it auto or manual? Sounds like your has blown a cooler piping. Check all the piping to make sure they haven't popped off, reason its surging above 2500rpm is because it builds boost, but the boost doesn't reach the intake manifold as it leaks out somewhere in the piping, then the car over fuels and start surging. Thats my theory, check the simple things first. If its not that, then chack AFM. Abu EDIT: Just re-read your post, does sound more like the AFM than anything. But check all things to be sure.

Good stuff man.
