  1. Can you fake a receipt? ^_^ I haven't ever had the need to do this as I haven't imported anything - but if you need to provide "proof" - what better than a receipt from nengun with your items listed and some dodgy prices that add up to $395?
  2. Nice work mate Your driveway sounds like hell! In answer to your other Q, yeah I'm on the beaches - up near Avalon. I think I read in another thread you're from around beacon hill?
  3. The 1mm is enough that it doesnt scrape going in - reversing out however if I don't want to scrape, I have to go real slow, ride the clutch, and rev it a bit once it's past the "bottoming out point"... What I'll be doing when I get the kit is parking the car in the carport rather than in the garage hehe... If you have the cash, maybe see about getting the driveway re-done? Alternatively you could try some planks of wood or something to change the incline? I'm not too sure - it all depends on the shape of the driveway and what you're willing to do about it
  4. Well, I have a stock honda prelude - and getting into my garage, i almost bottom out, there's literally a 1mm gap between the bottom of the front bar and the concrete... i was going to get the OEM lip too :'( bah! Low cars (hell - mine's standard!) and (or maybe JUST ---> ) bad driveways suck!
  5. SHHH about the VTEC, yo lol. The list is stupid, notice the SR20DET 180SX is not on there either? Only the CA18DET... And for whoever said about the NSX, it's banned in a seperate list called "high power 6 cylinder vehicles" - that list includes the likes of the M3, M3 CSL, NSX, etc... Anyway, I forsee lots of debadged/rebadged (with NA badges ) skylines/turbo cars, black painted FMICs, plumb back BOVs... etc etc... hehe
  6. Good behaviour bond? for criminal offences? If so... then yes, you are maybe a *tad* screwed Have a nice day~
  7. Sorry to say dude, but you're going to get raped in court. Expect ~$1500 fine and 12 month CANCELLATION of licence. I'm currently suspended/cancelled for 3 months - it's not worth the risk driving dude, don't have your licence? Don't go hopping in the car (unless you ain't driving anywhere but up/down your driveway ) and definitely do NOT go dropping mates off... What you've done now is considered a "major offence" and if you do another TWO of those in the next 5 years, expect worse and worse penalties... ranging from heavy fines and further suspensions/cancellation of licence, and 3 year MINIMUM bans! Sell your Skyline, use some of the money for a GOOD lawyer - to try to get the penalty down to a minimum... then when you get your licence back in a year or so - buy some N/A car that's going to keep you out of trouble... non turbo skyline maybe... Good luck man, you're going to need it!
  8. Bah, I can't argue anymore, all I was trying to say is that I agree WITH you, I just don't agree with the way you approach the issue/your attitude towards it - if that makes sense? :jump:
  9. Stupid internet... didn't realise you were going to turn what I said against me  Enough flamage!!! I didn't flag the engineering thing as a sign of maturity... engineers love to blow stuff up, right? Well, I know I do Anyway, yes - I flagged it as a sign of "grey matter" - which has nothing to do with maturity... but brains... I'm not bragging, but - I have to at least have a bit of grey matter to be doing it, right? Or am I as braindead as this guy getting hit by the chair? ----> :chairshot (would Love Merli's input here haha kidding kidding!) This is probably the most simplistic and best comment yet - yes, we have to legislate for the lowest common denominator... but why do it *after* they have their licence? Why not ALSO say, "ok, you must be *this good* to get your licence"? Stop the problem before it can occur (before you can get a licence) as well as limiting its occurrance during licensing? I think 6 months or so after this new law comes in - other changes should come in in regard to licensing.
  10. lol Roy, that's so true- even if it is a "joke" Anyway, yeah, I'm male... all the chicks are in Software Eng/Computer Systems/Civil!!! And by all, I mean all 10 of them :| lol. What do you need to know about me anyway - all that matters in this thread is each persons opinion on the issue with the odd flame war and personal attack, as some people seem to find necessary
  11. I wasn't going to post this - but Merli, with that last sentence of what you just said - you've annoyed me... Your username rings a bell - I think you had attitude to one of my other posts a few months back... but I forget what it was exactly... Either way - there's massive attitude in your post right now - and you sound *exactly* like the magistrate who handled my court case! I'm just going to say a few simple things and then live my life in bliss and be glad I don't know you personally :chairshot ALL P Platers, you say? All of them? Every single one? Even the ones who started racing go karts at say, age 6 or 7 - and deal with race-prepped cars on the track every weekend? I disagree somewhat, I don't think ALL P platers are INEXPERIENCED - in fact, I'd be willing to bet there are more than a dozen P platers our there who could drive better than you and handle an emergency situation better too... by gosh, imagine that, it must be some kind of MAGIC, seeing as they're supposedly inexperienced... Ah, but you don't know the situation or the facts Yes, I did a stupid thing - but the speed I did was NOT the stupid thing... want to know why? The following reasons, all occurring at once: * My parents had recently seperated, in fact - my mum ran off with a woman about 10 years younger than her... leaving her husband of 18 years (my dad), her 17 year old son and 14 year old daughter... and stealing a HUGE sum of money from the family businesses and my dads joint bank account in the process... * My (now ex) girlfriend of well over a year, having recently returned from China - I found out she had cheated on me, not with one guy (which I thought at the time - I recently found out it was with FOUR guys!)... add in the fact that she lied to me, said she had broken it off with him - and wanted to be with me again... and then turns around and says she can't forgive herself... THEN i find out that's a lie and she is in fact still "with" the guy - and planning to go back over there with him... OK, so imagine the emotional trauma/stress from those 2 incidents occurring at once... Now, the stupid thing I did - was hop behind the wheel of a car, whilst upset and angry. Result? 95km/hr in a 60km/hr zone... (I was in fact driving to her place to "sort things out") Do I sound like a hoon? Guess what, not 1 speeding ticket/demerit point in the 12 months before, or 8 months after... So what happened? I made a mistake - and did something without thinking of the consequences. I've learnt my lesson now, unfortunately thought a rather large and costly mistake (my licence for 6 months, $620, my social life, my employment possibilities, etc etc) So it doesn't matter what car I was in - I would have done a stupid thing anyway, what could have prevented it? Nothing, I guess. I could have not gotten in the car... but that same emotional state that makes hopping in the car a bad idea, also makes you not think about NOT hopping in the car... and it's only after being able to see this that you can realise it's a stupid thing to do... On this, the same thing could have happened to some 20yro full licence holder - so don't just go blaming "P Platers" because I made a mistake and fall under this category. Maturity and experience are not relative to time, they stem from each individuals actions and life. I'm 18 (19 in a month) - and whilst you may not agree about what I'm going to say (probably because you've never met me) I believe that I have matured and been through a larger range of experiences than most people my age - purely because of my actions. This relates to what you said here... If I didn't get hop behind the wheel of a car when upset - I wouldn't have lost my licence. If I wasn't driving a diesel merc, and in the wrong place at the wrong time - I wouldn't have written off the car. The two things weren't linked to maturity - well, the emotional upset is arguable - I still stand by the fact that some 20+ yro could have gotten behind the wheel and done the same thing. Anyway, I detailed the circumstances, with the exception of the write off, which just came down to the road, the conditions and the car - nothing to do with being stupid, in fact - I wasn't charged/declared at fault - so you can make up your own mind about whether I really am a "kid", providing "evidence" to your points/argument. -------- ^^ Big load of text summarised: * Don't attack me unless you know the circumstances/know me in person * Don't stereotype * DO provide your opinion, but in an open-minded manner, rather than attacking and assuming/stereotyping * I agree that the law is for the better and limitations should come in place - but it should be modified after initial testing/implementation to cater for: * those who do the right thing/those who are not irresponsible, show-offs, or an obvious danger to road users * those who DO have experience, maybe through logging hours on a track/driver training days, or something similar? You said it's a want... this is a free country - so why deny *worthy* people of their wants and dreams?
  12. Blitz, I agree with what you're saying - especially the last line. I think that experience is the key, along with driver attitude - so whilst these limitations are good now, I think they should go further. Bring in some form of compulsory driver training, and then an optional component which would allow certain cars to be driven, say to a certain power/weight ratio - but perhaps without modifications. With a system like this, people would benefit from the experience - and those who want to drive a more powerful car, can do so after completing certain tests and gaining experience in such cars in a controlled environment - where they can be shown the consequences/responsibility of such a car. I think this is what the average person (the type that push for these laws) fails to see though - they think... just stop young people from driving fast cars... they dont think, teach young people, show them through example, and provide them with an environment that promotes safe and responsible driving.
  13. Thank you for creating a stereotyped opinion of me from a simple forum post, and something a 16 year old has said... Age changes the way you perceieve things - and obviously what I'm posting, some people will understand it and view it the way I *meant* for it to be viewed - however, OC has taken what I said and applied his views to it... they are his words - not mine... Look at what I'm saying - without prejudice or stereotype or any bitterness... You don't even know me or anything about me... If I needed grey matter - why would I be studying Mechanical & Mechatronics Engineering and aiming to be in Aerospace eventually? Please don't just throw me in with everyone else...
  14. Whilst I don't agree 100% with OC's views, I don't agree with some of the older people in this thread either - there are people out there who are simply tools, and you are not going to stop them killing themselves, OR other INNOCENT people unless you stop them from getting behind the wheel in the first place! So young mr hoon anonymous can't drive a turbo car... well, now he can't get to 100 in 6 seconds - so instead he'll have to settle for something that can do it in 7... I believe this law will cut down on things such as illegal drag racing and incidents surrounding very high speed/showing off - such as the R34 crash earlier in the year... however - you will not stop it all together... So Blitz, this is what I'm saying - put mr hoon anonymous into a 30kW barina - and he will still not think, and still floor it everywhere - the ultimate solution is *not* the power. This is why I agree with the law, but *not* with what some of you guys are saying!
  15. I 100% agree - and whilst I agree with this law - I'm saying that it's not and SHOULD NOT be the only solution provided by the RTA/Government. I wrote in to the tele and said this
  16. Anyone who says 30kw/50HP car should be it for P platers is an idiot, a *huge swearing* idiot! I drove a diesel merc with 80kW and 0-100 time of 15.15 secs on my Red Ps and it caused me NOTHING but TROUBLE, trouble in traffic, trouble in dangerous situations - hell, what WROTE THE CAR OFF was its lack of power! (was pulling out of a carpark, and by the time i got out into the lane, another car had come over this crest and had seen me - it was 100% clear when i went!) Mind you, I also lost my licence driving that diesel merc, with 80kW of grunt, in a 1600kg car... so power is NOT the problem! EDIT: Some of you need to see the bigger picture here... Like I said - I studied all of this at uni in great detail - CARS are not the problem, it's the DRIVERS and the SYSTEM and the ROADS. This can easily be seen by looking at other countries and their systems, and their road toll compared to their population!
  17. Thankfully the daily telegraph/government are idiots... Toyota MR2, Honda S2000, DC2 Integra Type R, Nissan R34 GT Skyline... just a few N/A cars that really get up and go - maybe not *as* quick as a turbo, but they handle just as well and are all well balanced cars... and easily capable of getting to lethal speeds (when combined with a telegraph pole) I've been studying road safety all semester at Uni - with the focus being the latest scheme, the "national road safety strategy 2001-2010" - and from all that study, i realise the government and RTA are just idiots and are applying band-aid solutions! Ah well *hugs his N/A prelude with 147kW*
  18. What about fibreglass bonnets - are they also illegal due to changed crash characteristics when compared to standard metal bonnets?
  19. I think you're talking about the thermo fan? (black one) and the engine-driven fan (white one) poor kitty just be glad it wasnt a wombat! or a massive great dane or something!
  20. Amazes me that there are so many f*cktards everywhere... Sorry to hear mate... There are fks everywhere - the 2 houses either side of mine got robbed yesterday, at around 11am - and I live in one of the more "prestigious" (read: rich ass) areas of sydney! So there really are scumbags everywhere in society... Hope nothing similar happens again.
  21. haha owned...! hopefully with no damage/death tho! Keep them for drift/skidpan days? Or sell them to some riceburner for his civic...? Just on the topic of falkens though - do they make good tyres? a mate with a modded integra type r was saying they're awesome (forget what model tyre tho)... Anybody got a suggestion for a set of good tyres (for a FWD ) for around the $1200 (for all four) mark? Cheers.
  22. geez! it looks in better condition than the 2001 prelude i just bought! your car makes the R34 GT-T look like a very nice possibility for my next car congrats mate- enjoy it! i bet you'll walk out to it every morning with a big grin on your face, hehe.
  23. I hate you! *adds you to "most envied list" Haha - all I can say man, is WOW! I hope I'm that rich one day... wake up in the morning... "hrmm, which car do I take to work today? oh - that's right! i dont need to work! time for a hotlap up the mountains! now which car to take... oh this is so hard! curse my life" *dreams* Awesome, absolutely awesome!
  24. Who has the plates "ACCESS" up on the Northern Beaches - you used to own an R33 GT-R in Purple... now you have an R34 GT-R in Bayside Blue... damn mate, whoever you are - you have a nice choice in cars!
  25. The HID's would also have to be removed for compliance AFAIK I believe you can get the TV system converted for aussie use though - however the GPS will not work, from what I know.
