  1. you really think it passed pits with that turbo setup and 3" straight exhaust? BRILLIANT.
  2. are you srs.. :| Ofcourse it's rego'd w/ insurence. -.-
  3. probably the most solid advice i've heard. Waiting for money to come in before i can make such a drastic build though, baby steps. Any suggestions on turbo models for rb25det?
  4. I know it's not the best (and i don't have plug/play cables for it yet) but it'll suffice until i can afford something better
  5. Yeah it was overboosting, Too much air not enough fuel. stock fuel injectors couldn't keep up which caused a fuel cut at 7k rpm and backfiring/stuttering. While sounding like a rally car with antilag when it combusts in your exhaust manifold and spits flames, it's very bad econemy. Also very bad for the engine when it's boosting random psi.
  6. No, from my understanding people usually weld a pipe up and route it back to exhaust. Very unclear on this gasket though, people also weld up pipes with silcencer in them and vent to atmo. welding pipes and routing stuff to me is overcomplicating as i do not have my mig anymore, Saying that it's looking like the only legit solution, just searching through all avaliable options before i chop things up though.
  7. Sure m8. (birds eye view) (underneath)
  8. indeed i did, 4k for r33 import with 80 thousand k's on the clock with every pannel straight, interior in perfect condition and a newly machined head because the stock turbo pop'd. It was sitting since 2007-2012 before previous owner worked on it again (still has 2007 rego sticker on windshield). I knew it'd be a project car and i'm slowly replacing all the parts, engine compression is spot on, no missing like some rb's, no turbo shaft play or signs of oil seeping in, only real issue is the ebay turbo (who knows how long she'll run for) which i'll replace when i get a chance. I'm obviously aware of a muffler baffle/silencer as i mentioned it before, but have no idea on what brands/products are good/effective, Or if anyone else has tryed to do it alternate ways which is why i'm asking opinions. Yeah i'm aware the risk it runs against the popo's and in perth they're cracking down on modified cars hard. The abundant noise is why i created the post, but as i mentioned earlier i'll take it to the exhaust shop tomorro and get a quote and revisit my options.
  9. At what point did i remove anything? wastegate was already hooked up to exhaust manifold, just didn't have the nipple on the pipe from the cold side of turbo routed to the wastegate to add pressure to open it, meaning it was boosting uncontrollibly and fuel cutting/backfireing when it overboosted. Hence the need for the wastegate to be hooked up so it can releive pressure, yet i'm discussing ways to silcence the wastegate noise as it's obviously noticable as external atmo gates are. You can add your opinion about the car, not about people in the thread because who the f**k cares about that.
  10. i didn't remove shit, i'm dealing with what i got. You have a high post count for someone that spits usless info, why don't you put it on your resume and see how far your condisending attitude gets you in life.
  11. One of the reasons i haven't dumped the car on a shop yet is a pride thing, when i got the car i had to do alot of work replacing hoses and rerouting things properly (there was no nipple for boost on turbo or in piping) causing it to boost cut really bad. You can see in above pic that my oil feed is pretty sad, needs a 90 degree fitting and braided hoses to avoid kinks/melting. Couple hoses had some shocking frays and was dripping little bits of oil. So i'm making sure that everything is in good nick and wont be an issure before milking power out of it. Another reason would be the cost, i simply don't have 1 grand to drop into tuning right now and am saving my pennies until i can get there, until then i'll be working on it the best i can learning as i go. (pic is oil return line from turbo, one of the many pipes i've been replacing with proper silicone heat resistant pipes).
  12. Not yet, i have a microtec lt-12 ecu but don't have the plug play cables yet to edit setups. I was originally living in canada but i'm living in perth now.
  13. Thanks man, i appreciate the helpful post. I think plumbing back to downpipe may be the best option, what is the horsepower difference? I started around 320hp and it feels like i've lost about 50 hp with the gates current setup, will downpipe plumbing effect performance oposed to exhaust vent to atmo?
  14. I'll take it around tomorro and see what they come up with C:
