Ferrari stuck to the rules. Rules that were designed to handicap them the most. All this "cost saving" shit was put in to stop the team with the biggest budget from bringing masses of spare parts and pretty much rebuilding their cars between sessions. Since when has Ferrari had the biggest budget? Toyota reportedly spends 1 billion US dollars per year with a team of directly and indirectly 1,000 ppl!!! Anyway the whole point is that these professional drivers know the risks yes but they aren't suicidal!! Nobody could be expected to race on those tyres. What would happen if a car went into the crowd (highly unlikely given the height of the catch fence at Indy admittedly) or if a driver was killed or seriously injured because of a tyre failure? Michelin forked it up no doubt. But they also did the responsible thing with regards to the safety of the drivers. It is all going to get very interesting in the next week as the seven Michelin teams have been charged with bringing the sport into disrepute for not racing!! and Bernie is being sued by Indy for 7.4 million quid!! Everybody knows how much Bernie likes money that is going to hurt!! If the FIA aren't very careful we could have three teams for the rest of the season!!

A friend of mine who is heavily involved in the motor industry made an interesting point. Ferrari sell how many cars a year? We thought about 5-7,000 per year. How many do Toyota make? At last count including Daihatsu and Lexus worldwide last year Toyota made 7 million cars!!! Along with Honda 3.5million, BMW 2.0 million, Daimler Chrysler 4.5 million, Renault plenty,? How long do you think these companies are going to be ponsed around by Ferrari and the FIA? Not much longer I would think. I think this (Indy debacle) is the beginning of the end for Formula 1 as we know it. If these forementioned companies were getting pissed off with Ecclestone/Mosley/ FIA before this weekend you can imagine what will be on the agenda of a lot of board meetings in the coming months. If they withdraw en masse from the CHAMPIONSHIP what happens then? I think this is inevitable. It reminds me a lot of the birth of World series cricket. The traditionalists said it would never happen. In my experience never is a very long time.

It has to be said that Max Mosley/Bernie Ecclestone and Michelin are to blame for this ridiculous situation. Michelin farked up in a major way no doubt about it. But blind freddy could see this situation was going to occur somewhere this year. Raikkonen's huge accident at the Nurburgring should have had alarm bells ringing but it didn't. We could just as easily being talking about his or Jensen Button's funerals after that accident!! Max Mosley is equally to blame for his incessant farking with the rules. He is why we have narrow track cars (which makes them faster in a straight line because of reduced frontal area) running on grooved tyres (great idea Max!!) . Top speed at the brickyard is 350km/h per hour with a concrete wall on the outside of the corner. How is this safe? If any of us were F1 drivers and the tyre guy says that the tyres might let go pitching you into a concrete wall at over 300km/h are you going to race on them? I think not!! And now they have to run all of qualifying and the race on one set of tyres. It has been over ten years since the last fatalities in F1 and ppl have forgotten to a large extent the damage those accidents caused the sport. The current configuration of the Brickyard for F1 is idiotic in the extreme and another prime example of Mosley/Ecclestone making sure they make PLENTY of money out of any race in North America and we will forget about the safety of the drivers. I am surprised the GPDA thought it was OK to race there with GOOD tyres!! It doesn't suit the cars/tyres and is just waiting to kill someone. What was wrong with Road America? Max/Bernie wouldn't make SH*(LOADS of money out of that track, that is what is wrong with it. The best thing that could happen to F1 is if Bernie and Max are not involved. Bring on GPWC i say. As for Todt/Schumacher's win at any cost mentality. Why are ppl so surprised? Schumacher won two world titles by crashing into ppl!! He even tried to kill his brother and teammate at Monaco this year with a suicidal dip at them over the start finish line! He unfortunately suffers from the same affliction as one A.Senna. He doesn't think he can be killed in an F1 car. He must now reassess his role in the GPDA as it must now be totally untenable.

Webber isn't going anywhere!! Not unless Williams want to pay out the remaining two years of his contract at 6m a year, I don't think so!! As for his starts what is he doing wrong? The start system is fully automated!! BMW needs to get it's sh+t together and stop whingeing about Williams. The problem isn't with the car or the driver!! In a head to head battle Webber would beat Heidfeld nine out of ten times. He should have been called in first in Monaco (Heidfeld being German might have something to do with that) and if the thing got off the line half decently he would have had another two podiums at least . The problem is that because it launches like a 120y automatic he has to take risks to maintain his qualifying position otherwise he follows Trulli for the first stint and that is the end of any chance of a win!! He is out there to win and with a little luck he will win one this year.

whats the quickest way to earn money in GT4?
relicr31act replied to mines's topic in PC & Games Discussion
buy the audi touring car. enter the german touring car race in b spec. you win the clk gtr and sell. for each championship with prizemoney you end up with about 900,000. also hot it up to give about 770bhp, makes the job for your b speccer a lot easier! -
5.48.177 with Mazda 787b le mans car with 905 hp!! two small lawnmowing sessions so a bit quicker is in there but man that really is travelling.

100% noob and dont know where to start.
relicr31act replied to Mecha's topic in General Automotive Discussion
17 year olds have no business being in gtr's or anything remotely as powerful. take your time learn to drive in something that is less lethal and in a few years get a gtr if you still feel the urge. Better that than fifteen seconds of fame (infamy?)on the six o'clock news. -
He just made a mistake and paid for it. de la rosa set fastest lap of the race catching him so it was inevitable that he woudl get past but webber certainly made him work for it, great to watch! given that the williams is a bit draggy and not able to generate sufficient rear downforce on the faster circuits i predict that webbers day will come at monaco! If he qualifies well which is likely he could be hard to beat.

Ralf has always been a menace, remember Melbourne three? years ago, forgot to brake into turn one taking out eight cars I think in the process!! He is a talentless git who is there because he has a talented brother , period! Actually speaking of talentless gits JV had another fabulous weekend ! Trulli will kick Ralf from pillar to post all year, mark my words! Fisi was 100 percent at fault, Webber had been closing on him at over a second a lap, was he going to hold him out for another twenty laps? No chance. The sensible thing would have been to carry on and finish in fifth and go to Bahrain leading the championship! This championship will be won by the driver who uses the thing between his ears the best this year.
-
I won't be surprised if he ends up on the podium in Nz!
