  1. So i started to check the RB30 i have bought to see how it was looking inside and the type of treatment she had been given. Firstly i drained the oil obviously-now altho it was quite a dirty black in comparison to the black i usually drain out of my RB20, but overall the oil was not sludgy nor were there a single trace of metal filings that i could find using a filter (not the finest one i mite add). Next i removed the sump, checked her out and she looked all sweet with still no metal traces anywhere in tthere nor on the oil pickup filter which protrudes into teh sump. At this stage this exposed the heart of the 30 The rods, crank, and bores (not that the bores werent visable before haha). The rods look fine, the crank looked perfect except for one area under piston #2 (i think) which had a bit of discoloring to it...not sure what this was but from the pictures you can sort of see the discoloration. Just wondering whether this is all normal or i should be concerned. Aswell as this, i did notice some hatching/cross hatching of the bores as you can see in the picture attached, just wondering whether the more technical people have some input into any probs i could be facing or the things i can do to fix the problems. Chances are im taking it to a engine bulider to replace all bearings, rings, crank drive collar, welsh plugs and rod bolts, then balancing the round and round/up and down bits. Just wanting some input of peoples experiences on the buildup Cheers, David
  2. Can also be a sign of a battery running out of power possibly from a faulty alternator, but this will be on all the time and not just at higher speeds.
  3. 30 is the go...mite be a little hard to pass ur road worthy etc tho! depends there is the old, grind the 30 engine number off and stamp your 20 number in trick. If you use a 25DE head, then it will look exactly like your 20, bar being 30mm higher-something which i doubt any of the blokes which check would notice.

  7. well i just broke my GTR plastic front bar! Caught it on the gutter that was just that bit to tall when it dropped off. Just on one mounting point thankfully-it also broke my indicator aswell tho! I still need to get it painted, but does anyone know anyplace which can make a R32GTR front bar fit a gtst, and fix this mounting point? Any help appreciated!
  8. hmm...iv got a 30E sitting here with a head to go on it, just hasnt been rebuilt. Still need a box tho and the tailshaft modded etc. if i sold my head for about a grand, the engine for 100, that would mean id need 6g odd for u. in the scheme of things tho, 1.5g for the box, 1.8g for the turbo, 300 for the mods to tail shaft etc, 1 odd g for the pfc, 1 odd g for the rebuilding, 300 for the afm, 1g for the clutch.... pretty DAMN good deal if u ask me. Just such a pitty im lacking the money atm. at most id have like 2-3g fresh money after i sell the engine. Little cheaper and id almost definately get it with a bit of messing round.

  13. i dont get it, whats not to see from the picture of it on the boot, it is exactly that badge, it is in perfect nick, not a blemish on it. But pm if one is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.
