  1. I reckon you would get more than one Skyline dude mate. I reckon it'd be pretty cool if a whole bunch cruised with ya to check out a possible purchase! I'll put my hand up!
  2. I'm pretty sure the gearbox in a R33gts4 is not the same as the GTR model due to the Gts4's n/a specifications. Honestly, i reckon it'll cost too much since you have to consider so many other mechanical alterations as aforementioned. HPI did a comparison on the R32Gts4t & the R33Gts4 in an issue not too far back - The one with the red s15 on the cover as I recall (Issue 36) . Anyway the short of it was since the R32 was already turbo and shared similar specs with the GTR, i.e. gearbox, etc - The swapover for an RB26 would be easier & more cost effective. This is a common question asked by MkIV non turbo Supra owners as what they'd need to do to make their n/a ride into a twin-turbo beast and is it more cost effective - The answer more often than not is DONT bother, as it is economically crazy. I've got a 32 GTST with an RB25DET swaped in (engine work done here in Oz) and this has caused enough headaches with tuning & parts as it is. This is not including the additional costs such as acquiring a RWC for the car with an engineer going over it with a fine tooth comb which isn't that cheap. You might start to think going the GTR route wasn't such a bad idea afterall - Then again you've got to consider what you want the car for and do you really need that much power? Why don't you just do a trade for an R32gts4t or sumpthin? I saw not too long ago in the Trading Post for sale an R32Gts4 with an RB26 swap - Going for something like 20g's....maybe something to consider. By all means it should be possible to drop in an RB26 into a 33Gts4.... just takes money and some weighing up decisions. Anyway hope this helps! Goodluck!
  3. I knew a dude who purposely went badgeless on his R32 GTR just coz it had been snatched twice. An advantage of being badgeless i guess is that the average little Sh*t couldn't tell what model it was (especially in a 32) without the big red R symbol. He kept the badge off but re-ordered when he was selling the car. Sorry to hear Meshmesh Pretty much any badge off a Skyline is expensive to replace. A mate of mine also had to replace the little GT badge on his 33 which was like $70. I think Unique sell the genuine GTR one's too but JustJap is the best place for hard to find stuff, as mentioned. Hope everything goes well with the boot lock.
  4. Doh! I shoulda posted here months ago. Been on the forums 4 ages but only just recently got a Skyline........ Gunmetal R32 GTST with GTR bodykit, RB25 engine, Big turbo, front mount, 3.5 inch exhaust all the way through, plus a whole heap of other things. Too damn loud (according to my g/f's neighbours) & too damn low! Bloody rego! Really keen to cruise & meet the team soon. In any case i'll wave if i c ya out & about.
  5. What a day for spottings...where to start...Ok, A Gunmetal 32 GTR with no wing parked outside Brian Hall along Melrose Dr today (seen it there b4). Saw the same car pass me going in the opposite direction in Phillip about half an hr later. Later in tha day (bout 3.15ishpm) heading to Uni along University Ave or whatever that road is called between Radford and UC, a red R31 with Skylines Australia sticker on the back windscreen nearly got taken out by some wank pulling out of Radford. Dude i felt sorry for ya, that must have been inches that d$!khe@d missed u by. I was in the R32 following ya. Then this evening parked just outside Zeferelli's in Belconnen around 7pm, a black R32 GTR with a HUUUUUUUGE GTR sticker on the back windscreen.
  6. Dare i say it, most 89 R32 GTR's have been undeniably run into the ground and tarted up to sell overseas. The car may drive fine if its close to stock but you're still going to have to pay through the nose on the little nagging things like radius rod bushes, new tyres, possibly shocks & springs as these could all be worn and need replacing. The bill for your cheap car starts adding up very quickly. Plus GTR's this old tend to suffer many problems engine-wise. Would you really hazard the chance of buying a GTR with a tired RB26 - coz rebuilds aren't cheap. Of course you can get pretty good 89 model cars (few out there) but these generally are priced from the mid 20g's upwards anyway. You might as well have bought a 93+ model one down here that you can actually see, feel, hear yourself. However, investing in a GTR will become very costly in the long run no matter what year model you go for. Even if you had the money to fix everything up why wouldn't you go a later model car anyway, surely a 93+ GTR would look more appealing than an 89 when it comes to re-sale?
  7. Definately no gold rims.... Yet again i wasn't driving the Skyline Spotted: in Holden Cres Wanniassa today between 9am - 11am - a white gtst with GTR wing & white rims...then i cuda sworn i saw the same car pulling out of Phillip as i drove back from work along Melrose at around 10:20pm..... This time i was in my Skyline.
  8. Hi fellow enthusiasts, I'm appealing to any good samaritans out there who have a set of stock or near stock R32 springs that i could borrow for rego. I like the ride height of my car (however it is too low) and will probably purchase newer springs down the line but this is more of a want than a necessity. My car is quite extensively modded & has an RB25 engine so i need to go to Dickson.Any help would be much appreciated and i'd be happy to work out some sortof compensation, Cheers!
  9. ....Along the main road between Evatt & Melba past Copland college around 3pm, a Burgundy R32 GTR...sounded very tough!
  10. sxygtst, the R32 u are getting looks f@*kin mad dood. Would be keen to have a look at it when u get it as it is VERY similar to mine - spec & bodykit wise!
  11. Fyshwick today around 1pm, saw a burgundy 33 GTST parked opposite AAMI building & also a pretty low black 32 GTST on Gladstone St .... Belco later this arvo around 3pm, saw a clean silver R33 GTST parked adjacent to the Shell servo. While @ Shell, saw another 33 pull in - this time a stock white one with red seat covers.
  12. 75 g's landed? Thats awesome, better start saving the pennies
  13. Silver R33 GTR heading North along the parkway around 6ish today. Also...... A nice gunmetal R32 GTST with full GTR kit at the Erindale shops round 9pm - I want ur bonnet and grille man!
  14. I had a similar problem except it was misfiring like crazy. I've got one of those old skool Apexi S-AFC's and whacked the car onto the dyno. Gapped the plugs and advanced the timing ever so slightly - Problem solved. I am running standard ecu 2 as well as aftermarket zorst and filter. I'd be checking what kinda spark plugs you have also if they weren't recently installed.
  15. Yeah Weetbix, I have seen these around the Belco mall a bit. Is the 2-door fairly flash? With rear diffuser and Nismo bodykit? I think the 4 door has chromies, unless there is another goin around like that? I've also seen a White 2 door GTT goin round with GTR 34 bodykit - Very nice!
  16. Blasting along Sulwood drive adjacent to Mt Taylor last night around 1am - A yellow R33 with 400R front bar.
  17. This may be a bit late but spotted near the Shell in Wanniassa driving past the other day a V-Spec purple R33 GTST with GTR body kit. Thought i might mention since the colour is so rare not to mention very nice!
  18. Interesting topic. I've just recently bought an R32 GTST but it has an RB25DET conversion (done in Oz). It also came with: - Stage 2 GCG 450hp turbo (Steel Wheel, Hi-Flowed) (I'm not sure what the equivalency of these are to the jap name brand turbo's (anyone know?), or their range efficiency, as i am unfamiliar with GCG's) - aftermarket front mount intercooler - 2litre surge tank - Bosch 450hp fuel pump - Malpassi fuel pressure regulator - Three inch exhaust off the turbo, stainless muffler - Apexi air fuel controller The actuator is set at around 10/11 pounds. With these mods my tuner reckons in the vicinity of 210-220 rwkw @ around 5000- 5500 rpm. Of course going with these mods the additional extra's for stability & handling which also came with the car. DBA gold slotted and drilled brakes all round Daiken Exedy Heavy Duty Organic clutch Bilstein suspension In the R32 the RB25DET is a monster! It is heaps stronger with low down torque and peakier at high revs. So far the turbo is very much on the leash and with a boost controller and advanced timing, I reckon it would hit the peak of its efficiency. Atm the unit is missing its kick once past full boost and getting up into the higher rpm's. Go with the 25DET as the RB26 is heaps more expensive and unless you have the dosh (then go for it!) could be a real headache to fix if you end up with a poor unit. Its way risky.
  19. Tidy white R33 GTST with a pretty tall wing going through KFC drivethrough yesterday........Also a black R33 heading down Northbourne this arvo round 1pm
  20. Drove one up in Sydney that was virtually stock except for upgraded filters, aftermarket jap zorst and boost controller. F@$!kin unreal - Breathtaking - Straight line acceleration really has to be expericed to be admired, handling was great too. I think from recollection nearly 400k's to the tank driving like a granny was the answer i got about fuel - but who really cares about consumption in one of these things? The ride is firm but i wouldn't say harsh. The example i looked at was pretty decent - a nice clean Black 93 model. Positives & negatives? Depends on yourself, What you are looking for and what you want to do with the car? I'd say for me there wasn't really many, although a few ppl do comment on the lack of space & the blandness of the interior. Also - The perils of buying this model GTR are plentiful as they are getting on a bit - plenty of good one's about still tho - I'd say be very wary of who you get to check out the car coz plenty can go wrong and it will be a nightmare to fix. These cars suck up money sooo fast. When i was looking into getting one a few mechanics from some of the better known performance workshops around Sydney were recomending getting one as close to standard as possible unless I could find a modded one in good nick - It ended up being too expensive so I had to scrap the idea. Despite the downfalls of age i ended up getting a Hi-powered 32 GTST with an RB25 & 450HP GCG turbo & a number of other goodies, this alone has kept my wallet pretty thin (not a GTR albeit) but am still happy with it - Happy Hunting & wait for a good one!
  21. I've recently smashed my HKS green filter into the concrete while driving so i was forced to buy a replacement K&N. Does anyone know what the BLITZ one's are like from Autobarn? Are these the one's ppl are talking about?
  22. Some of these "performance" workshops in Canberra are an absolute joke. I've finally got a decent mechanic that will be doing all my work. For him it ain't work - he loves Skylines and its more of an enthusiasts hobby.
  23. I am currently having a simiar problem which is getting fixed as I type this. My brake fluid levels were way down and we bled the system, but the clutch still didn't feel spot on. Did this 2 or three times but their was an obvious leak as the rubber hose was coated in fluid. Same solution - leaking seal new slave cylinder.
  24. I've seen cars with that lip around. Most recently at the Summernats crusin round in the city on a Friday night, there was a gunmetal 32 GTR with that front lip. Had chrome wheels and the SKYLINE words lit up in red. But the lip makes it look more agressive - Must be available here in OZ, maybe JUST JAP would be able to help?
  25. Bloody slave cylinder decided it was the weakest link last night & went. However, spied a nice white R33 GTR V-Spec (anyone on these forums?) which pulled into Video Ezy in Phillip as i was waiting for a tow truck.
