  1. GTR's R heaps more common in the UK. Their equivalent Skyline Forums R GTR only!
  2. I thought you could only get 2 BOV's on GTR's? Never heard of two on the GTST's? Anyone else got 2? PS: A5h, Ur cars awesome! White R33's RULE! And is it just me or is every second avatar in this thread really raunchy?
  3. I actually worked at Nissan in Japan for a couple of years and had some input into the Skyline range. Naah j/k. I've just read-up heaps on GTR's & had some hands on experience. Farkin Luv Em :uh-huh: I'm currently saving for an R32 GTR to buy @ the end of the year. Still considering whether to go through with it or not coz of the daily driver aspect and just general concern. I've driven one before but don't know how that'd go on a daily basis. This is why i'm also considering a heavily modded 33GTST. But I'd rather Godzilla coz there's sumpin bout the feel of the car that just does it 4 me. Btw, Beautiful car Nissaner, I Luv black!:burnout:
  4. Nissaner, I was mainly referring to R32 & R34 GTR's but in answer to your question - Yes, your non-VSpec R33 GTR should have an active lsd. :uh-huh:
  5. Nissaner, Yes they do. Normal GTR's have an active lsd. While the V-Spec 1 & 2's have an updated electronically controlled lsd.
  6. My bad! I didn't explain it properly. The GTS4 DOES have the ATTESA system, However, the calibration of individual wheel rotation is slightly different. Aside from this fact they are essentially the same. Both the GTR and GTS4 torque split is biased 100% to the rear wheels until they start to slip. When the system notices slip, the torque is re-directed and can vary to a maximum of 50-50 front-to-rear gradually feeding power to the front-wheels. To give an example of difference in each car: When gunning it out of a corner the GTS4 is much safer and more forgiving than the GTR. It won't get into such wild oversteer attitudes at such an early - and often unexpected stage. But what would you expect? One's a certifiable dangerous Group A weapon/legend and the other is a chuckable/fun sporty coupe.
  7. The GTR's AWD driveline is electronically controlled. ATTESA-ETS stands for Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All-Electronic Torque Split. This is combined with an active rear limited-slip differential. The system monitors individual wheel rotation 100 times per second and can re-direct torque away from slipping wheels. What this means in plain english is that the GTR acts like a rear-wheel drive car most of the time until the rear tyres break traction. Then the torque split is 50-50 front to rear, gradually feeding torque to the front wheels. This is why GTR's are king at launching and for ultra-fast take-off's because the initial slip at the rear tyres prevents the engine from bogging down through too much traction. The GTS-4 does not use the same AWD system.
  8. The aerials on Oz Spec models are different to the imports as well. Australian delivered 32 GTR's have small external aerials mounted on the roof at the middle point apex of the front windscreen. Imported versions have built-in aerials. The only noticeable trait of these is when ur sitting in the car you can see a thin strip of line running vertically on the passenger side of the front windscreen.
  9. The most famous was Gibson Motorsport no1. This was the R32 GTR driven by Jim Richards and Mark Skaife which crashed out and still controversely won the 1992 Mount Panorama battle after the race was red flagged due to the conditions of the weather. These GTR's were still given weight penalty's as soon as officials realised that the GTR's were too fast around Australian tracks. Originally the GTRs made 470kw at 7500rpm with 656Nm of torque at 6000rpm. Achieved by running boost of 1.6-1.9 bar (23.5-28psi). The car weighed in at 1360kg giving a power to weight ratio of 2.89kg per kilowatt. Beginning at the start of the GTR's last season officials handed Gibson a 40kg weight penalty as well as a pop-off valve to limit boost to 1.3 bar (19psi). Power dropped to 336kw and torque plummeted to 469Nm. Even after this the GTR's were still good for a 0-100km/h time of 3.6 secs and a quater mile time of 11.5 seconds. Gibson didn't take any chances with the RB26DETT and ran 8 of them in their GTR's!!!! in those days a new RB26 cost $100,000. Rebuilding cost $25 g's! 2 ran in the cars, 4 in the transporter and another two back in the Gibson workshop. The famous chasis no5 or Gibson Motorsport No1 R32 GTR has been fully restored and is currently privately owned and displayed at the National Motor Racing Museum in Bathurst. There is heaps more info in Zoom magazine no49 who ran a feature article on the original Bathurst Godzilla. For more info on the Bathurst Tooheys 1000 of 91 and 92 check out the DVD "The Turbolent Years" - features highlights of the GTR kicking arse and even the infamous scene where Jim Richards sticks it to the V8 fans on the Winners podium!
  10. If you are talking about the Gibson Motorsport R32 GTR's...... 11. Does anyone know if there are any differences between R32 model GTR's across the range? For example, how does an early model 89 compare to a late model 93? Any variations in engine, chassis, ATTESA, interior & other parts etc? I know the late model 94 V-Specs 1-2 have different components to the standard ones like wheels and the revised drivetrain, just wondering whether the GTR went through any mid-production facelifts on the standard model. Any help would be great coz i'm considering importing one , cheers.
  12. Why SWOOP? WHY? This truly is an amazing machine and i'd sell my house to buy it! Worth every dollar and i can vouch for it, i read all 50 pages of SWOOP's 1st thread (Goddamn my eyes hurt after dat!)! Good luck in selling it, the new owner will be very impressed! FREE Bump!:uh-huh:
  13. SS_8 Gohan, sorry got there b4 ya My bad!! It is a damn fine car tho and wat an example! I wouldn't take a 34 GTR in any other colour except Nismo Blue! You're right too, the R32 GTR with da do-luck kit is awesome! 32 & 34 GTR's R the best! :burnout:
  14. In the running for the nicest...DCD's friends R34 GTR (tuned by Top Secret!), i know the driver may not be on the forums but still a bloody nice car....for those who missed it...here it is again......
  15. It's like comparing chalk and cheese. S2000's r cruisers rather than bruisers, But they do have a fair amount of power when your right foot becomes pedal heavy. Both cars have their points but in a full on drag a lightly modded R33 has the better torque and acceleration to outpace an S2000 - You need some serious mods on the Honda to compete. Munro laid down the stats and discussed it all correctly about the VTEC's prowess and the S2000's abilities.
  16. Im in GTR nirvana :drooling:
  17. Both V-Spec and V-Spec 2 models have firmer suspension an an electronically controlled limited-slip differential plus a revised AWD system called ATTESA-ETS Pro. Both models also have larger brakes than the normal 32 GTRs, 4piston Brembo clampers with 324mm rotors at the front and 2piston ones with 300mm discs at the rear. The V-Specs also have mesh style 17x8-inch BBS rims. The only difference between the two V-Spec models are the tyre sizes as you mentoned. The 1st version got 225/50/ZR17 tyres while the V-Spec 2 has wider 245/45/ZR17's. There were no inherent differences to the RB26 engine in either models to a conventional GTR. Stock for stock, neither model should outrun the other without some modification taking place, and of course, the drivers skill and ability.
  18. The factory setting is 7psi on the R33 i think, i wouldn't wind it past past 14psi to be safe. Put simply boost controllers work similar to a tap on a pipe, adjusting it can allow the driver to raise or lower the boost pressure. By "tricking" the actuator (this controls the wastegate) into believing a lower boost level is being generated. This allows the turbo to generate more boost as the wastegate opens later.
  19. Go the 32 GTR! In my opinion its way more hardcore! I've driven one and i can tell you its one superb car! Handling, acceleration, looks - course the age is the only factor! You don't really need a VSpec unless you want the ride to be more uncomfortable coz they don't go any faster!
  20. With minimum mods a decent 6 spd Supra TT will absolutely womp a modded R32 gtst. The RB20 engine encounters lots of lag problems when it comes around to 200rwkw, which is what you'd need to stay with a modded 2JZ-GTE. Wind up the boost, free up the inlet & exhaust on the Supra and your talking about a 12 sec car. I'm not saying its impossible for a 32 gtst to beat one its just gotta be one hell of an R32 to do it!
  21. The GTR's electronically controlled AWD driveline (ATTESSA) is brilliant - far more rewarding and technologically advanced than Subaru's AWD system. Torque split is biased 100% to the rear wheels until the rear tyres break traction , then the bias varies to a max of 50/50 front-to-rear gradually fowarding torque to the front wheels. This makes the GTR bloody fast on launches as initial slip at the rear tyres prevents the engine from bogging down through too much traction, and the front wheels provide wickedly quick drive for rapid acceleration.
  22. Crusin around on da web and found this....The sequel 2 the original F&F is being called 2 Fast 2 Furious (highly original title!). Here is a pic of the mian characters from the movie and their cars. From what i can tell the two most indisdiguishable R the s2000 (which looks like a Barbie car) and the Rx7. The R34 isn't particularly inspiring but the Supra looks cool....thoughts????
  23. That is hot! R32 GTR's R da bomb! The original & the best! Hey Ethan_R32 how much did you get her for if you don't mind me askin?

John, whats been up man, how you doin, its Lee, didn't know you post on here?! Sorry i can't make it to the Gong cruise! How good is the next meet gonna be?! Can't wait till da next drags! Now all i need is a Skyline to take you on! P.S. Love the avatar, how long did it take to convince Erin to do that?
  25. Tell us the story. We've all heard heaps about Skylines owning heaps of other hi-perf cars but has anyone been owned at the lights by something totally unexpected or anything else you thought you could take? Don't want to start a depressing thread or anything just curious! :burnout:
