Thanks for clarifying that Peter, I was wondering if your box was faulty but KNEW that could not be the case. This issue of the ECU Error 34 is frustrating the hell out of me. Do you know of the implications of this fault effecting Timing etc.? I am assuming it will switch to a different map to retard in case of overboost/detonation condition with no knock sensor working. I want to get the car dynoed but can't till I sort this error out.

Nissan Historic Racecars Coming To Sandown Nov 10/11/12
TurboX replied to 31GUN's topic in Archived Events
Which is the best day and time for this to see the Skylines in action? -
One issue is depending on scenario the std oil feed line is restricted to suit a BB Turbo. If you put a NON BB turbo on you need to remove the line and drill out the restriction in the banjos for increased oil supply. Cost me a new turbo when I did not know this.

R33 Gtst Smic Upgrade To R34 Smic - Results (video & Pics)
TurboX replied to QRI05E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Did not realise there was such a difference in model SMIC's! You could probably put a thermo fan on the front as well to get a bit more from it as the airflow in there could be a bit restricted. Maybe a water sprayer as well just to complete the efficiency of it all. -
Thanks Greg, manual may not make any diff as I prob dont need to drive it, just start it and see if the error comes up. It's strange as the other day I went for a test with Glenn and we started it about five times and Newkleers LCD Consult box said that it was <0> since error read each time even though not cleared for those five times. You clear it and it comes straight back but does not increment as it should. Have solved the cutting out problem by datalogging the problem on the road and exporting to excel graphs and found that at the point of dying the revs hit 3000 and the timing skyrockets to 60' BTDC. This was with ECU ROM from SA Tuner mod by Dr Drift. But then replaced with latest ROM from Dr Drift just before engine bearings blew from no oil pressure because of screws coming out in back of oil pump. Latest ROM has solved the cutting out problem and datalogged a clean run to 7000 RPM all OK. The reason I had swaped ROMs was the car was running like a dog for some reason which I eventually traced to the ECU Daughter PCB positioning in the ECU case. Still has the error 34 showing so would like to try your ECU sometime soon. Six years of trouble free punishing it has sure caught up to me over the last four years!!

I think the "Gas Research" gas throttle body in place of std TB would compensate for turbo pressure similar to a rising rate Fuel Press. Reg. does. Gas Injection like the new Fords have is probably the way to go though, but I dont know if this is available aftermarket or not and wether it would be able to be tuned by aftermarket ECU.

Automatics On The Dyno
TurboX replied to WazR32GTSt's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I remember that story and I was thinking of converting mine but for 20 extra Kw I willl turn the boost up a bit to compensate! Rebuilt the Auto with kevlar clutches, drilled oil ways, extra bearings, mod plate, 2800RPM Converter etc etc. instead to handle planned power increases to 200awkw. Besides I like the Auto as a daily driver in traffic and a Skyline is not a real sports car any way. Waiting..... -
KICK NSW ASS GUY'S!! We are all rootin for you! Well maybe not Bris -he's doin it for himself! Literaly I mean...

Automatics On The Dyno
TurboX replied to WazR32GTSt's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
"Is it saying that this slip is a dyno thing, but an auto and manual car will actually have almost the same rwkw but its just that it can't be measured as easily?" I read it as the the Manual & Auto can have similar ENGINE kw but the rwkw will be considerably different because of the Auto slip. AS I also have a beefed auto with 2800RPM stall I will be happy to see the RWKw around 200 mark when ROM finally tuned to perfection by Dr. Drift. -
Does Z32 Afm Require New Ecu/safc ?
TurboX replied to thrtytwo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Question is, why do you want the Z32 AFM? The reason most would use one is to give more overhead on the AFM voltage to allow the ECU to measure more air mass because of power upgrade mods. The only way to do this is with changing all Fuel/Timing maps to suit mods in the ECU. So the std ECU has to be ROM Re-Mapped or replaced with an aftermarket ECU (PowerFC or similar) -
Rb20det + New Injectors = Car Wont Start
TurboX replied to RB-ONEVIA's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Back to the begining, must be the inj or ECU tune if fuel connections OK. Have the Inj been recently flowed or tested for thoughput - I left mine on bench for two months and would not work as gummed up inside. Are they ticking or actuating that you can hear with a screwdriver on them on your ear? Check plugs for wetness of fuel in each cyl if unsure. Maybe ROM tune is out in timing or fuel maps on start. Are you getting any error codes from ECU? NewKleer's LCD Consult just diagnosed my problems via datalogging software that told me the timing was advancing to 60' BTDC at 3000RPM on the road. -
Rb20det + New Injectors = Car Wont Start
TurboX replied to RB-ONEVIA's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
- OK stupid question, but are the injectors the right impedance to suit the ECU?? -
Damn, similar to mine! DONT change those sensors yet as I changed mine and still have a problem. Mine just started after engine out and back in.

Can someone in Melb loan me their HR 32 RB20DET Automatic ECU so I can try on the spot to see if mine is faulty? Get error code 34 - Knock sensor - but have replaced them and checked continuity from new sensors to ECU connector pins all OK. The voltage on the pins is also correct as per the service manual. So the only thing left to do is just swap the ECU and see if another one says error 34 as well. Tune on ROM probably does not matter as I think it will show error just trying to start it anyway. But if you have a chiped ROM anyway we could just swap mine in for the test if you agree, but wont matter if not as I think just trying to start will do the job. I can drive the GTS4 if I dont put it into boost much as the computer seems to dump the boost and shut the revs down when gets near 6 PSI. HELP! This is driving me CRAZY!! Anyone with any other suggestions please post here now! - THANKS!

Might be old news but it was interesting to go to the link to Blackstone Tek.

This was argument a cop had with me regarding lifting the back of the bonnet up two inches for enhanced cooling away from the rear internal clips, but I cant see how pins would be a problem as they would retain the bonnet to the frame better. The pedestrian damage issue would be the main reason, if in fact it is illegal. Then again if it's a :- Skyline = Illegal Falcodore = Illegal EuroWeapon =Legal

Crankcase Pressure, Pcv's And Oil Catch Cans On The Rb25
TurboX replied to Mike_'s topic in General Maintenance
"As far as I'm aware the RB25 is a relatively high compression engine. I would imagine that this would result in a relatively high crankcase pressure" Ummmm... no, the compression has nothing to do with the crankcase and a turbo engine by definition is usually moderately low compression anyway. The crankcase gasses are the product of blowby - what escapes around the piston rings and is usually in a fit low mileage engine, very little. So the pcv only needs to vent freely in a way that is not to atmosphere without being filtered or back into the engine via the intake before the airfilter preferably. In this instance you dont even need the PCV one way valve. The PCV is only needed when piped directly into the intake manifold. -
Probably can sort out something for you at work if its handy - you remember where
-
Dont forget the High / Low Impedance issue as well. You need resistor packs for the Low Imp units. I fitted RX7 550cc inj. my RB20 and just cut out the key in the sockets so a straight fit on with std plugs.
-
Re the cable lengths, I am glad I got the std metre length as it was handy to be able to hook it up to a computer outside the car door or put the display under the hood if needed and its easy to roll it up if to long. Love this device, great job Peter!

Oh Snap. Literally. Two Wheel Nuts Have Snapped.
TurboX replied to Sauce's topic in Australian Capital Territory
What n15m0 said is, I would be willing to bet, is the problem! There seems to be many Skyline owners with non standard wheels running on the studs instead of the central hub rings. It makes a lot of difference to the handling and safety of your car if ithe wheels are not a snug fit on the hubs. CHECK your wheels now guys! -
Yeah,... what he said, like when I'm 58

yeah... lost my license there for 85MPH in 1969 in the old AP5 Valiant (Calder 1969 - 14.01@98Mph!!)
