How much do you charge for this as I could do with more track training. NEVER too old to learn Won't catch Snowman, but should be fun trying.

Michael, I dont doubt your comments. Its just that someone told me of this trick years ago and its always seemed to work for me, saving the cost of a new AFM. I figured if its not working properly then what did I have to loose?

HELP?! RB20 New head on - badly clicking followers?
TurboX replied to TurboX's topic in General Maintenance
Hi 3LIT3 FORS3, thanks for that, I was starting to get really worried I would have to pull the cams again. I had only started it about 10/15 times for a few min to get the oil going through the new cooler and to make sure the new 550 cc Injectors were operating OK. Last time I tried them they were frozen up. This time they are all OK! Aparently they dont like sitting around for a few months before you use them Thanks again, will drive it soon. -
Check the fuel filter & AFM sensors not oiled up if you have oiled Air filter. I pull the AFM out and spray with metho and light every few months. The ECU is suposed to burn it off with current occasionaly but lighting it up with a gas lighter works as well. Seems to clean it up OK.

Guy's just refitted head on the RB20 and found on starting that there is a loud tapping/clicking noise like the cam followers not pumping up. DAMN was I supposed to line up the holes in the followers in the side oil rail?? Only just thought of this after hearing noise. Do I have to take the cams back out;-( On a positive note the idle is smooth even with the 550cc RX7 Injectors and mod AFM Box to try and compensate -looks like it worked, will have to dyno asap. Any comments appreciated and I promise to do a search soon.

The FW27 will accelerate from standing to 200kmh in five seconds, and deceleration forces on board will reach 5g. 1g equates to driving into a brick wall at 30kmh. Brake temperatures to generate the deceleration will reach 6000C in one second On board the FW27, exhaust temperatures reach 9500C and even the air temperature in the pneumatic valve system reaches temperatures two and half times boiling point at 2500C The BMW P84/5 contains 5,000 individual components, and takes 100 man hours to build. BMW have historically produced approximately 200 engines per season, but this figure will reduce in 2005 BMW produce 1,000 drawings in the design of each engine The BMW engine weighs less than 90 kilograms At 19,000 rpm, 316.7 revolutions and 1,583.3 ignitions take place each second in the BMW F1 engine. 9,500 engine speed measurements are made, the pistons cover a distance of 25 metres, and 550 litres of air are drawn in In the P84, maximum piston acceleration was 10,000g. Peak piston speed was 40 metres per second 1.3 terabytes of aero data processed in CFD (1 terabyte is a thousand million bytes, equivalent to 69,333 volumes of the Encyclopaedia Britannica 250,000 man hours of design time has been spent on the FW27, with a further 250,000 man hours required in fabrication and build 4,500 drawings have been produced in the design of the FW27 chassis. End-on-end, these drawings would stretch for 5,350km with a further 4,000 expected to be produced to support the FW27's lifecycle. By the end of the season, drawings would reach from London to Buenos Aires

I have a sump from a NA RB20 that should/could fit. Not sure what its worth? -
This question has been done to death, you can find a hell of a lot on RB20's by using the search function. But since it is dear to me I will say that you probably need to backcut the turbine wheel, replace the CAT with a GTR's, modify head, Adj Cam gears, = AIR OUT Replace the Injectors with 550's, New 040 Bosch in tank Fuel pump, Rising rate FPR, = FUEL IN Modify the Airbox for more cool air in, replace the filter - DONT FIT A POD, see BAS JUNKY's Group buy on mod TurboDuct, modified Intake -reduced length piping, modify Head, Adj. cam gears = AIR IN. NewECU or recalibrate orig ECU = CONTROL FUEL IN + AIR IN --------------------- = AIR OUT = POWER!!! CONTROL Or something like that.....

Automatic Transmission Shift Kit. - Updated Oct 2006
TurboX replied to 4door_Sleeper's topic in Group Buys
As I have already done extensive work to my Auto - Kevlar clutches, 2800RPM Stall etc I was also interested in the MV upgrades to finalise the job, but I seem to remember in the ZOOM article MV said they put welsh plugs into the actual transmission case assy for some reason as well as do the Valvebody mods. What happens about this welsh plug mod in this case?? I was planning to drive to Adelaide AGAIN to do this before getting the orig ECU remapped AGAIN. - my fault Nino, - MORE MODS -
Adz, cool it man, is it not a fact that anyone not registered as a member that did tag along would not be covered anyway, so their presence would really make no difference? If they caused or were a problem there is no way SAUVIC would be responsible for any outcome just the same as if ANY motorist on the GOR did the wrong thing. After all it is a public road and a free country. We dont need to turn friends on friends or into fiends.

YES... Its called TRIBES2!! For all you girls out there playing HALO, when you really want to see how good you are, try TRIBES2. You wont learn TRIBES2 as fast as HALO2 but you probably will be ADDICTED by the time you do. Also the new TRIBES VEANGENCE kicks HALO's butt as well!

I have an original GTS4 Pump thats OK I replaced with a Bosch 040. You could have that for less - not sure how much - make an offer? Its not that hard to swap over but I am stuffed if I know how my fuel gauge works so well after trying to get it out and back in without bending the sensor float!

AS all this started by you not driving the car for some time and finding wiggling the Injector plugs made a difference, I suspect the problem is there. I know for a fact that Injectors can jam up if not used for some time because thats exactly the problem I have just experienced with my GTS4!! By all means change the ignition plugs BUT please do this - get a long metal screwdriver and hold the end on the injector body while sticking your ear onto the other end of the screwdriver. You will hear the difference in clicking of the injector solenoids and if the #3 is different or no clicking, just gently tap the body of the injector with the screwdriver and maybe it will come good -Some of mine did when I tried this. Actually I tapped some dents into some of them cause I was angry they were not working properly at first. A few come good but a few had to be removed and sonic cleaned and flushed to work even though they looked a bit dented and secondhand  . If no luck change your injector from #3 to another good working cylinder - probably #1 and see what happens. I dont really want to send an injector unless I have to, and you have tried the above first. Lets know how it goes. Greg.

Compression test = take out plugs and buy tester from SuperCheap for about $20/30 or vice versa. My RB20DET GTS4 = 118PSI Avg all cyls - UH-OH No.6 80PSI!! Head off -gasket stuffed -replaced with S/Shim Grex - head modded -new valve 3angle job- testing soon. I have my injectors out at the moment so I could post you 1 to test, but if its the plug or cable you should be able to figure out by swapping known good one to #3 position.

The only advantage of not having my line on the road for the last year is becoming apparent. Dont know how he did not get you for that anti revenue raising front plate tucked under the front driverside bumper. Why not put it in front of the FMIC on a loose door hinge at the top so the faster you go it just tucks back under without obstructing air flow

Changing injector plugs...intake manifold off...any cautions?
TurboX replied to cobo_11's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
As I have had to take the head off and just about everything else on my RB20DET recently, and because I am old and frail, I worked out that getting my fold up ladder that can act as a painting trestle to lay on while over the top of the motor certainly saved me a lot of back pain For anyone thats interested, I eventually bought a Metal 1.0mm Grex/Trust Steel Shim Head Gasket from AUTOBARN for $309 and coated it with copper sealant spray both sides before refitting the head. I was going to fit the standard gasket but could not face another episode of it blowing out the drags again  AS I am looking for 250AWKW I thought it may be good insurance! -
RB26 Head on RB30 -Which Oilpump & Timing Belt?
TurboX replied to TurboX's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Hi dnb, thanks for the time and effort you put into this reply, I appreciate it. -
Just thought I would emphasize this as I see so often people saying AWD needs same width rims. The torque split controller works on the rolling dia. and even pulls in if one of your tyres is a bit low on pressure. So on diff size rims just adjust the tyre aspect ratio and rolling dia. to suit! IMHO rim apearance and desirability is totally subjective. A big issue to me is how easy they are to keep clean!
