i have a PWR one in my GTSt, does a great job, i was thinking maybe go a jap one in the GTR as i thought it might be better than a pwr? Can anyone tell me what makes the PWR ones special? i was told by an ARE guy that theirs are better (biased obviously) and that they use a dual pass horizontal flow setup, and vastly improves cooling. Apparently the pwr ones run hot on one side, whilst the other side is cooled more. Can anyone elaborate on this?

32gtr How To Get From 300 To 350@wheels?
SLY33 replied to Skorj's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
poncams and cam gears have been mentioned, i was under the impression that the poncams were spot on and you didnt need cam gears? a 3.5incher plus a straight through cat will work wonders! definitly sort the exhaust first, as even if you put on bigger turbos later the exhaust will be done already. Get the most of the GTSS's and when your bored of that, rebuild motor and throw on GTRS's and easy 400+awkw! -
exactly!! whats with this low compression piston crap!? you can still run plenty of boost even with the std 9:1 CR, and it will give you nice crisp off boost response plus earlier spooling than lower CR.
-
isnt the OS cross gear set (1st to 3rd) still suitable for 400kw+ at the wheels? this is what i am looking to get.

gav, hows the build coming along!?!

excellent result from the 2530, thats a great looking curve gotta be happy. id say hes seeing 16psi by about 3800-3900rpm, as id see ~18+ at 4grand. Actually, lets do an SK and do some maths from the looks of the curve, he hits full boost at about ~110km/h. divide by 29 gives us 3793rpm (give or take, assuming 245/45/17) saw your car there today by the way

im not up to scratch with my differences b/w gromet/stopper type etc, but std comp is 9:1, different gasket thicknesses give different comp ratios. The method of dropping the CR right down in order to run big boost is kind of out the window these days, with most ppl keeping the comp up for good drivability. most tuners ive spoken to recently have recommended not to go lower than 8.5:1

Falken Rx? Semi-like Tyre
SLY33 replied to SLY33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
well i wont be using them on the track, only street. as long as theyre sticky ill be happy. -
what rpms is the above graph going to? Gary, I wouldnt plan on going past 9 maybe 9.5krpm, that shouldnt require the changes to air con compressor, powersteering etc would it? Do you see the GTRS's giving away more overall than their top end gain is worth? This low boost surge mentioned, this is due to the engine not being able to swallow the air being supplied correct? Would the increase in capacity to 2.8litre eliminate this? At this stage the GTRS's are still on the list. But to play it safe i might end up sticking with a new pair of 2530's. Anyone know where i can get new ones? greenline cant get them anymore, nengun still waiting a reply.

Falken Rx? Semi-like Tyre
SLY33 replied to SLY33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
the grooves had me thinking they were probably a wet tyre... not too fussed about wear, but hows the traction?? My mates running them on a 310rwkw LS1 commodore, and they seem to be holding up ok on the street. -

SLY33 replied to SLY33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
PROBLEM SLOVED! now i feel better As mitchy suggested the tyres i was asking about are in fact AZENIS RS-VII's. The reason why i couldnt find any info on them is because these particular tyres are coded RX-04V, as i orginally posted. The reason for this is that these tyres are coded specifically for Australia and Canada, hence not bearing the RS-VII code as it would in Japan. Definitly NOT snow tyres!!! so i wont be needing those snow chains sewid. lol I thought it was iffy at first with the model number situation, but as you can see, they are identical to the RS-VII's. see? like a street tyre but with chunky tread blocks! by the way, the compound is very soft, even when compared to my medium compound RE55s, also the sidewall stiffness doesnt seem as stiff as the RE55s, so im expecting some decent straight line traction! I only plan to run them on the back, as on the street the RE's warm up slowly and cool down quickly. A friend whos running these on the street says they hook up crazy. Ill post up a review when i get them on. -
so what anti-speed detector device are you using?

SLY33 replied to SLY33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
thats like what im talking about! im fairly sure the model number is different tho, but ill post em up when i get them. So go blow your snow tyres out your asses guys hehe LOL -
holy crap, those things come on like a lightswitch. Anyone know how to convert those km/h's to revs on the graph!?

bah, ill get a picture of them for you. haha, Keep laughing snow boys, we'll settle this at the track -
Maybe the setup was such to bring the torque on so high?? massive cams maybe? As 6100rpm is A LOT different to Mik's peak torque at under 5000 on only a 2.6!!

Falken Rx? Semi-like Tyre
SLY33 replied to SLY33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
no thats not them! They dont have a semi slick look at all, they just look like a road tire with chunky tread blocks. I think ill just buy em and try em! -
thanks pnblight, i have talked to a couple of workshops today, and consensus fairly consistent, the t517z's in the 8cm2, will be too small on a 2.8. They make 380rwkw on a 2.6 but im told that is really pushing it, and intake temps get very high. So im told on a 2.8 they will spin right out of efficiency earlier than on a 2.6, and start pumping hot air. The 10cm2 may be a good option, however, no one has tried these so they are an unknown, and im not really in a position to bite the bullet and buy something no one has solid results with. Im after tried and tested here! From what i know of the 2530, it is no good in single form on a 2.5 at the top end, but is good on a 2litre. so at 1.4litres per turbo on my setup "shouldnt" be a problem. It has been suggested to me that even the 2.8 may spin the 2530's out of efficiency also.. But i would hope for a bare minimum of 350rwkw without pushing it too hard, plus the benefits of the 2.8 in off boost drivability and early spool up. Im still sussing possible options.

does anyone whos removed the abs have all the bits?? could a system be retro fitted to my non-abs 33 gtst??

Falken Rx? Semi-like Tyre
SLY33 replied to SLY33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
OOh i found something, but its not really any good to me. At least i can confirm the model number "RX-04V" FALKEN RX-04V Sタイヤ 245-45-17(2本) How can this tire be so hard to find details on!? Dont suppose anyones used or using them??? -
just looking for some info on the falken RX 04V (i think thats the code..maybe RX 042V, RX 04V2??) they are supposedly a sort-of-semi slicker, looks like a street tyre with fat chunky tread blocks, not like a RT 215 or RE55s bridgy. i can pick up set for a good price but i cant even find anything via google on these tyres! nothing on the falkentire web site either... any help would be great!

Whats The Best Brake Fluid You Can Buy?
SLY33 replied to blackrb20silvia's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
fair enough asking what other people use, but did you even read anything in this thread before you asked that DOT rating question?! blackrb20silvia posted up possibly the largest post of all time detailing the diffences between the DOT ratings! -
Whats The Best Brake Fluid You Can Buy?
SLY33 replied to blackrb20silvia's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
thats interesting as ive always ignorantly gone to the floor to get the maximum flow from one pedal push hope i havent damaged anything. Whats your opinion on this SK?? -
that thing is mad! how the hell do you get traction on the street can i ask??
-
sounds awesome b33st! What CR did you end up with? and what rods did you use in the end? Heard the CP's are good. 256 poncams correct? im just about to throw some in mine. who did the machining and engine building up there?
