  1. SK thats right about the quick boosting up, and i agree this can be annoying when you want only a bit of acceleration rather than a surge, but it can also be fun and give the car an effortless feeling of power from boosting point thru midrange, eg. for overtaking you just need a tiny bit of throttle and you whoosh by.
  2. gt2530 for the rb20. high flow for the rb25. "i think the hiflow makes more power and also spools up quicker" i dont see why the highflow would spool up quicker, the 2530 spools pretty quick! Id actually say the 2530 would spool up quicker, going on runs ive had with garret equivalents.
  3. yeah take it off the top cooler pipe/plenum for sure.
  4. the skyline diff is a viscous LSD. Usually they're pretty good, but they do wear out especially since some of them are getting old these days. You can get your stock diff done by UAS or just get a mechanical centre if your serious about spinning two wheels reliably. a search for diff's (1.5way 2way etc) should reveal some good threads with everything you need to know.
  5. 36psi is about 2.5bar!! wtf!? Your not going to tell me that was on pump fuel as well? I wait for SK's opinion of these "special vortices". !
  6. no worries dude, just messing around
  7. All turbo r33's are 187kw (250ps). Looks like a real clean example! good luck with the sale.
  8. haha lol at above! So far ive gathered from here that Hyperflow have the best coolers on the market. Also that ARC have the best coolers on the market. Can anyone tell me more about these hyperflow jobs? Ive been running a older hybrid, 600x300x75 thru various stages of power, now making ~270rwkw at just under 1.2bar. No probs so far... Id consider getting something phatter coz its the only thing that i havent upgraded for a while, but theres no more room without hacking into the bar.
  9. The real slyr33? phhh!!!
  10. your best bet for a 100% sure answer would be to PM Boosted Zed, or give him a call at UAS. (+612 9634 8000)

  12. depends on how much boost your going to run, id say with your setup and only being 2litres you might not gain much. But at the end of the day the bigger freer flowing system wont hurt.

  14. thats an awesome first car dude! Just be really careful and know your limits. As ive said before id hate to picture myself when i first got my licence driving one of these turbos! RESPECT the power, things can get ugly really quickly. all the best.
  15. i bought one of the xtreme ceramic cushioned kits from Tim Poss. back in the RPM day. I think it must be the 9 puck one coz i remember a lot of puks. I was told it would be good for around 220rwkw and i believe its only the 800kg pressure plate. Been running it hard with over 260rwkw for a while now and it will only give up its grip on really harsh near-flatshifting. This is running RE55 tyres also so even more of a challenge for the clutch. All in all never given any problems, and i think if it was going to smash it wouldve by now! I dont have any of the parking problems cubes mentioned either. It used to shudder a little if i treid to ride it, but now its smooth -must be getting low or something. Girlfriend can drive it without stalling it no worries.
  16. what i did, got my z32 and fuel pressure reg, got it tuned, AFR's were all good, so i didnt bother getting the injectors until i got a bigger turbo. My injector duty cycle was peaking at mid 90%'s though! this did worry me with all the talk it not being safe, but the tuner was happy, and it ran fine getting driven hard for 6 months, at which stage i went a bigger turbo and injectors. not so sure youll get up around the 270rwkw mark with a 340ps rated turbo... It sounds simple upping the boost and getting more power, but you dont know for sure if boost will hold up top to get you that peak power figure. With smallish turbo's such as these on rb25's once you start to wind up boost youll often find a super midrange, but the the boost wont hold up top. My 420ps 2835 only makes 266 at 17psi, so to get that from a 2535 would really be pushing it.. Is the power usable?! yes and no. Depends on your tyres and suspension. On your average street tyres you wont be able to get traction in 1st or 2nd (and may even have trouble in 3rd if changing hard into it) without a very skilled right foot to feather the throttle, so you can forget getting off the line and just holding the pedal flat to the floor and feeling the slingshot. This is very frustrating when far lesser power cars can take you out 0-100 if you cant control the wheelspin. In my opinion, anything over 230rwkw in a rwd turbo setup like these should be on R-compound tyres, or the very top of the line street tyres at least. As mentioned above you can quite easily find yourself spinning out of control if your not careful, and i'd hate to think of myself when i was on P-plates driving the car i have now!! At the end of the day, wheelspin on command is cool, but once you get sick of it, all you'll want is TRACTION! To illustrate this point, the bling 19's you see in my avatar are sitting in the shed, and the car now wears 17inch jap rims with RE55s all round. If you ask me, the car was actually dangerous on ultra low profile street tyres with this sort of power, and it now pulls up in what seems like half the distance.

  18. you can get away with std injectors and a fpr, but, you will definitly need the Z32 AFM. HPI did an article covering the swap from std to z32 AFM (my car the actual test car), and while the article conclusion was sh!t, the fact remains that with that turbo you will max out your std afm very easily. Just to explain why the article was crap, they opened by saying that my car with its 2530 would max out the afm at 4000rpm at just under 1bar (or something like that). Hence WHY I WAS UPGRADING TO Z32 AFM. Then they conclude by saying its NOT really worth doing unless your pushing over 250rwkw or running really big boost. Well my car only made 227rwkw at the time, and i was only running ~1.2bar 'peak' boost, which makes their concluding statement wrong and contradictory to the facts, i.e. the car they saw max out the std AFM well under the criteria they recommended you need to change to z32! sorry to go on, but it annoys me how they wrote the artice
  19. spot on cubes!
  20. gtst4d you said you wanted more power down the track, maybe give us an idea of how much power you consider "a lot". This should ultimately decide what components you need to go with and help people give advise.
  21. As for pistons, check out CP pistons. I was talking to two separate engine builders a short while ago about getting mine rebuilt, and for a small amount extra, the CP's are the way to go apparently.
  22. sorry but ill have to flat out disagree with that! i do definitly agree they sound different, and from my own description id tend to say they sound more "mechanical" in their note. I think you need to hear my 25 at full noise From the 26's ive heard, i reckon the 25's have a "sweeter" and more "howling" note, and not as harsh sounding as 26's. As for reasons why, i think theyve all been covered. Of course exhaust systems are going to make each and every one sound different so i guess it comes down to personal preference. its also very possible that i just havent heard a really nice sounding 26! cheers.
  23. any pics of your setup spx25t? good advice nismoid! even tho its the most logical thing, noone mentioned to try before you buy
  24. you can get them for ~$700 thru greenline or nengun or the like. Or if you want them ASAP Horsepower in a box should have them on the shelf and get to you in a couple days, but for around $900 maybe a bit more -not sure, check the website. High octane racing in NSW should have them also. pretty sure price is same for series 1 or 2. as far as i know, the splitfire series 1 and 2 coils are exactly the same coils, just the plug is slightly different, so its possible you could just use the correct loom/plugs with either coils on s1 or s2. correct me if im wrong.
  25. oh, to answer your question, i would recommend it. Im only running 17psi, and the stock coils would give me a few misses every now and then, but with the new ones i havent seen a miss yet. It did also feel like it ran stronger after i changed the coils. May be Placebo effect tho! Also if yours is an early series 1 33, the coils will be getting pretty old now.
