  1. paul youve done a good job of keeping this thread going by yourself let us know how the new dunlops compare to the pzeros
  2. neil, can you get rt215s under 200 a tyre, where from? what is the RRP on those? If i can get some rt215 225/50 16s for under 200 a tyre thatd be half the price of nittos.. probably only half the traction tho too.
  3. i heard something about rolling diameter cannot be more than 1inch taller than the std measurement. if you can measure up a stock 32gtr tyre then measure these 245/55's you can get and see how much taller it is. my 2c: 245 is not a wide tyre on a gtr, and looks comfortable on an 8inch rim. Even if it is a bit tall, theres no way your gonna get pulled up for it. If you like these michelins then get em.
  4. I'm looking for some nittos for my stock 33 rims, but ive been told by a few places that they cant get them in at the moment. Can anyone shed any light on where i could find some?! If i cant get those, where is the best place to buy the Bridgestone semi's? such as the RE540S and RE55S? any estimate on prices would be appreciated, i think for the nittos im looking at around 400ish a tyre, not sure how much for the semis.
  5. lepperfish, can you verify TWENTY PSI by 3,400rpm!?!?! im not saying your car doesnt hit it by 3400 (must have some wicked tuning or something), but i have to say i find it hard to believe!! i have a smaller HKS 2530 which should be hitting full boost earlier than the high flow and at 3400rpm im guessing i see maybe 14psi? mine hits full boost (~19psi max) by a tad under 4000rpm!
  6. hi-flow or equivalent std mount turbo. more bang for buck, drivability is more than adequate on rb25's without cams IMO. Also SK is never wrong!
  7. dude that would be cool! but youve seen my ride height! with your wheels on it would be even lower.. so you can borrow my 19's too early next week, i have time to do it late-ish monday or anytime tuesday, i will only need the suspension for a day or two max.. unfortunately im away this weekend. Thanks for the offer, much appreciated, i still may be able to get hold of some so ill let you know. What is your schedule like for availability?
  8. bump, anyone!?
  9. veilside r33, thats heaps funny man, with the pictures and everything, but how did you get all these details such as his nickname etc!? Has this guy been approached about it or anything been done yet?
  10. hi guys, just wondering if anyone has stock r33 springs and shocks lying around that i might borrow to help clear a defect?! Would be a great help. thanks, Allan
  11. thanks! i rang UAS and thats exactly what they said... now i just have to find a bar...
  12. no, as i was told i shouldnt need to.. do i need to??
  13. you guys are forgetting an important point! You cant rotate stagered sets front-back. Therefore when your rears typically wear out faster or more on the insides etc, you cant put them up the front and vice versa, making it more costly. But for me its worth staggering just for the phat look! you can get a very tough look with 8.5s on the front and 9.5 wide on the rear, as long as you get the correct offsets.
  14. hi guys, due to the defect im changing my springs over... got the strut out (front drivers side) got old spring off and the raised one in and strut back together. Problem, cant get the strut back in with the raised spring! i can get the strut top bolts just into the holes, but the bottom shock mount hole, cant get it over the sway bar! any help appreciated!
  15. well i was doing something about 20minutes before i got pulled over. Apparently some responsible citizen which witnessed me enjoying my car, called the cops and complained (i was told they received "a FEW" calls) and i just happened to come across an unmarked car that was looking out for me, and im kinda hard to miss... Just because stupid retards potter their daily shit boxes around at 20km under the speed limit, they must freak out when they see the orange flash go by Seriously tho i do accept that i deserved it and im not saying i should be allowed to go out and play while others are around... got done for the usual... BOV, zorst (which was stated to be "oversize", no testing of sound was done), too low... No mention of the FC H/C stuck on the dash, or the EBC, or the TT... But all in all ive had a good run, the car will be returned to stock as a rock...
  16. i didnt exactly get defected for doing nothing, i was having some fun at the time which drew attention to myself. The defect category is "MINOR" and says it must be cleared at an AIS (authorised inspection station) -What/Where is an AIS? Is it like a registered workshop/garage? or is it a full RTA depot place? -Also where would i get a tyre placcard?! They mustve left it off after the respray. -And again, does anyone know if the defects are subject to a fine?!
  17. hi all, well i got defected today, the following "faults" were found. -bov under bonnet -wheels and rims 3inch oversize -no clearance between body and top of tyres -not comply with 100mm clearance -no tyre placcard -oversize exhaust -loose wires under passenger floor mat. can someone whos been through this tell me will i get a fine for each and every point listed above? As "no clearance b/w body and top of tyres" and "not comply 100mm clearance" are the same thing! ie too low! and oversize exhaust?! WTF is that?! isnt it the noise level not the size of the pipe that matters? It says i have to clear it via a FULL INSPECTION. Whats the deal here in NSW- if i fix the problems on the current defect, will they just go over the car and send me home with another dozen things to fix? If thats the case then ill just drive it back to SA and do it there, at least i have all the tools/parts there. cheers
  18. it says if i dont clear the defect in 21 days they will cancel my registration?! whats that sh!t? ill ask the NSW boys about getting it through over here... I was just gonna drive it home and do it there, have all the parts and tools, wont cost me labour or anything. steve whats this about emissions testing? if i take it to regency they make me pay to test my car!? I have a new cat on there, does that mean my emissions will be fine?
  19. got me a yellow sticker today in Sydney. I am told that the defect applies even if i take the car out of NSW back to SA, can anyone confirm this?
  20. i was also thinking, would some silicone glass sealant work? It would be so easy to smear a layer over the crack, or even use it as glue to stick some other material over the crack. would the spark jump through a layer of silicon?! if the soldering iron thing doesnt work, ill try the sealant. does anyone know where you go to get propper plastic welding done? being so small and considering that appearance doesnt matter, i dont think it would cost much...
  21. thats great that its fixed the problem, but the tape should really be seen as a stop gap measure until you can replace the coils! how about plastic welding?! the coil pack plastic is obviously very resistant to heat but i might just hit the crack with a soldering iron and see if it will melt the crack shut, talk about backyard techniques! But i have a couple of brand new coils on the way anyhow...
  22. btw you only need basic tools, some sockets etc, wrap the tape along the direction of the arrow on my picture, horizontally round the bottom half of the pack... assuming you find a crack that is! but it sounds like the problem... i thought it was my plugs too initially, but they were all still at a perfect 0.8 gap.
  23. the tape just has to cover the crack, it doesnt have to hold it together as the crack wont be that bad, its just to insluate the coil pack as where the crack is the spark jumps out. look at my picture on page one, where the arrow is, you just wrap the bottom half of the pack below the magnet/metal square part, to where the rubber boot goes on. I pulled off my boot, taped it, then squeezed the boot back on so the boot helps hold the tape. Dont wrap too many times like i did at first, as the coil pack didnt fit back in!
  24. revhead that sounds exactly like mine... just keep in mind when your looking that the crack(s) are tiny! let us know how it goes
  25. well i am stoked! wrapped the bastard up and she runs perfect! its amazing how such a TINY hairline crack can cause it to run so bad! thanks nightman, if not for this thread i wouldnt have my car running so soon!
