  1. well the forecast is PM showers... what a bitch. But sydney forecast is so unreliable that i wouldnt be surprised if its dry. fingers crossed! if all is well ill c you there sam.
  2. yes evryone always has something to say... im not roasting him im just interested how he came about it. I dont care if it were given to him, and its not like im going to bad mouth him if it were, and since he says that he has done it on his own, surely thats a success story youd here about on TV! who wouldnt like to know how a 21 year old affords a $100thou+car on his own? These are indeed personal questions and nowhere does it say he has to answer them. I think its interesting to hear how people make it big.
  3. how does one gain such a grasp at 21? Property and shares both need start-up capital, and returns arent gonna make you loaded overnight unless that capital is very substantial. Im not picking at you im just curious, as im also interested in property, not so much shares tho.
  4. showers are forecast for wednesday, do they cancel the WSID street meet? what happens if you pay, go in, and it rains just after you start -do you get a refund!?
  5. COPYME, just curious, it may have been asked, but what do you do to afford a 34gtr at 21!?! coz if its something that i can do, ill do it!
  6. adelaide is SO small. You fart and before long everyone knows, so it shouldnt be long before someone comes across this marked white GTR, or so and so hears from a mates mate who did it... you will be unlucky if you dont find this guy.
  7. hi guys, after my first WSID experience last week im looking forward to getting back this wednesday. Wondering if any of you are going to race also? Last wed there was only myself and R33vit! (Cmon Sam, back out there, i have RE540's now ) ***a HUGE thanks to MIN71E for the semi slicks!*** if i dont get a 12 i will be very unhappy, as with the winter schedule taking over after this meet, this is gonna be the last chance i get to attend!
  8. that is awesome!!!! what clutch do you have and what rpm did you launch at for that 60fter!!? Buster, are these nittos available for rent!?
  9. thanks, im hoping to get back on wednesday on some borrowed rims/tyres and go for that 12!
  10. nothing special at all, just a hks gt2530 an FC and the necessary support systems. planning to be back this wednesday to get that 12!
  11. hi sam, yeah was good fun! But if im gonna race you when your tuned, ill want to have some suitable rear wheels/tyres! i may even be back to wsid next wednesday, any chance of renting those RE540's off you? back in SA i have multiple rims/tyres that i could use, but here all i have is the 19's! btw, were the tyres noticeably more worn after the meet?
  12. thanks guys, Merli, id like to see someone launch my car properly the way its currently setup! I could say have a go and see if you can do better, but i wont I tried a few methods, loading the handbrake at different rpm, dropping it, slipping it, but all seemed to be around 2.3 60fts! flaps, nice photo!
  13. thanks guys, flaps, thats a nice shot! do you have a larger pic file you could email me!? the light is hitting it just right
  14. thanks ben, you should definitly get your car out!
  15. btw, the left lane car on r33vits timeslip is me! i hit the gate TWICE trying to get into 3rd, hence the 13.888
  16. hi ben, could you add me to the list? I know the RIGHT lane is highlighted, but i got given the wrong slip! R33vit can vouch that i ran the 13.003 in the left lane! cheers (hope you dont mind me posting it instead of emailing it to you.)
  17. hi all, went to my first meet at WSID at eastern creek today, was great fun. if you want to read about it: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...5043#post795043 but to sum up : best run 13.003 @114.19MPH with a poo 2.302 60 footer. once the cat comes off (218rwkw to 227.5rwkw plus quicker spool) high 12's should be in the bag, which isnt too bad on 19's and dumped suspension with no travel! great fun.
  18. first ever run [email protected] with a crappy 2.292 60ft had heaps w/spin in 1 and 2 as shown by the 60fter! That was with 50psi in the tyres. I let them down to 25psi, and the spin turned into nasty axle tramp. It didnt improve my 60ft though, and i ran consistent ~2.3's all night. only one bungled run, hit gate from 2 to 3 (twice!) and ran 13.888. (and r33vit got away!) my last two runs were the best, with flat 13's (13.003) at a nice 114.19MPH with the worst 60fter of 2.302!! So i could have run a 12 but JUST JUST missed out! by 4 thousanths of a second! i was expecting to run low 13's, and hoping for a 12. But with the car in full street trim (bar the subs which arent always carried anyway..) im happy, and there is no doubt in my mind that with a set of stockies on the back a 12 should be a gimme, as the 19's were just crap to launch on! R33vit was running semi slicks and pulling ~1.8 60fters, making me have to reel him in by the end of the track Going from my MPH, with a set of semi's i think 12.7 could be a possibility! (and without the cat) Its annoying that if i had taken the cat off -which is 10rwkw- my flat 13's would have been 12's! All in all my car as it sits in the garage being good for flat 13's im pretty pleased, considering its on 19's and has very little suspension travel, its pretty much set up NOT to launch! R33vit congrats on your new PBs! Awesome results considering your running an FC with the BASE MAP!! although i did see you fiddling around with your HC a fair bit
  19. a drag section! funny i never noticed it, only ever seem to be in general or forced section. yes tits i dont plan on running with a full bowel. That will save a couple of kilos ive asked about tyre pressure for 19's in another thread but i cant find it, and cant remember what the conclusion was, but can anyone tell me from "first hand" experience if dropping pressures in very low profile 19inch tyres will actually make a difference? I think that even if you drop pressure, there is still hardly any sidewall to flex to get benefit from? not that it could hurt so im likely going to drop them anyway. Adrian, ive never been to one of these burnout comp/street meets, how early would i have to rock up? gates open at 3 i think, i was gonna try to get there by 1? and is it worth going to race while they are having a burnout comp on the same day? thanks
  20. great result! ahh the old stock turbo debate. my thoughts are it depends a lot on your cooler. Consider a stock cooler, running 12psi. Tests have confirmed that to get 12psi manifold pressure, the pre-cooler pressure has been over 20psi. So really you are pushing your turbo harder than you think. Now drop in an efficient front mount that say for eg has no pressure drop. your turbo is working much less to get the same 12psi at the manifold now. i ran my car at 13psi with the stock cooler for 6months (hard driven!) then ran it at 12psi with a good cooler and ecu making 200rwkw, and never had a problem. I have mates running 1bar with the stock turbo and good FMICs with no problems. Im not saying they wont go, but ive seen many of them pushed very hard and survive. Obviously depends on the turbo's life in japan. NB, im talking about series one turbos, havent had experience with sII's. Sorry to get off track of your results, but bottom line i think is that turbo not working as hard as some think with a good cooler I am wondering what sydneykid thinks about this just out of curiosity.
  21. your power figure does seem extraordinary as mentioned by sydneykid, but you have the dyno sheet: dyno dynamics dyno, and in shootout mode, which im led to believe makes it comparable to any other run done in the same mode. great result! your turbo must have some special gizzards but
  22. hi guys, planning my first run down the strip this wednesday at WSID. my question is about how much fuel to run with. there's a fair bit of difference between a full tank and half a tank of fuel as far as weight goes (perhaps 20kg?). im thinking that having less fuel will help my TS, but then again on the street a full tank of fuel helps get off the line. I hear the strip is much sticker, but how much? If i launch at 3grand on the street, how much more can i add at the strip? -so far all ive done is take the 2x12in subs out, which together weigh about 25kg inc boxes. note im running on 19in street tyres. thanks all.
  23. those who state that they notice no difference in the premium fuels, remember that pretty much EVERY one of our cars are different. Be it just different plugs to a fully reprogrammed ECU. It makes sense that those members who have had their ECUs tuned with a certain type of fuel in their tank are more likely to notice inferior fuel, as the tunes are specific to the type in the tank at the time. With the FC displaying knock level i find it a good indicator of the fuel quality. Whilst on BP98 in adelaide knock was rarely over 20. With the trip over to sydney i was forced to use vortex at one stage, and had knock over 120! Now in sydney i found optimax up to 80 knock, and the BP98 here sometimes goes over 50, but usually it stays low. There definitily seem to be inconsistencies here in NSW for fuels. but yeah basically the vortex stuff i consider the worst you can put in! I'll have to find a mobil and try some 8000 and see how it goes before the drags this wednesday!
  24. i reckon! dont forget he is talking about the R version of the 2540, so it would have crazy lag.
  25. awesome, i will get there early this time! ANyone else here racing?
