i have a set of brand new GTR style skirts from Unique Autosports, awesome quality, never been on the car, plus Brand new rear pods to suit, bring the rear end level with the skirts(skirts new=395 pods=295) all up just under 700, sell both for 500. Give the car a nice clean look, no lairy vents or bulkiness.

i have cold air intake without any partition, need to lose the factory IC tho. This setup has to be the best solution bar removing the front headlight i reckon.

thats funny, mines the same, i thought "has that always been like that?"

approx cost to fit adjustable exhaust cam wheel?
SLY33 replied to Ronin 09's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i have an HKS cam gear for my exh for my RB25 got a quote on fitting it from tilbrooks, but unfortunately this includes water pump, fitting/labour etc, so im not sure on cost of gear fitting only, but all up they quoted me $450 and 5hrs to fit the pump and set up the gear. to tune my power FC they quoted me $250, which seems cheap to me? i expected around the 400 mark. How much has an ecu tune cost the rest of you? -
err, 355 is an engine capacity, he prolly stroked his 308, if it was a holden. and his name could have been frank. dont judge so harse as for the others, yes... lame

How bad is engine wear at high average speeds?
SLY33 replied to siksII's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i concur -
yeah you do, although i think some people think that if they stopped at the crossing first, they can go before you, as i see happen a fair bit... like the tails lights in your pic! haha

Hybrid Intercoolers - Voice your opinion!!
SLY33 replied to Zensoku's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i have one fitted. what can i say? it works, looks good, the exit pipe is always cold (unless its a HOT summer day, it gets a bit warm, but i would think this is the norm). i know of quite a few 33's with them on. im not sure that opinions from users such as myself will help you, as while i think it works good, its not like ive used multiple other FMICs to give a comparison. Pretty much any large FMIC will do an adequate job and id say that unless your shooting for megga power or exceptional high boost, then for a street car any one will do. pretty much every decent intercooler brand states they have low pressure drop etc etc, and ive never heard of anyone bagging any reputable name brand cooler. personally i dont think it is a cheap and nasty cooler. however i was sceptical at first due to its price, but its serving me well. -
the buzings not that loud but when the exh isnt booming i can hear it. During summer when it gets warm the buzz gets quite loud. Apparently the extreme clutch doesnt like to be slipped, when i got mine i was told that if i tried to slip it each take off it wouldnt last long, and to just let it out and it would be fine. ive had mine about 6 months, lots and lots of launches, no troubles yet...

summoner - the way i see it, skyline traditionalists would be upset with replacing the famed nissan 6 for an 8 in the same way that holden traditionalists would be upset with replacing the GM 8 for a turbo 6. its all relative on both sides of the fence. personally, i love anything with a combustion chamber and couldnt give a rats arse what form its in; i just want to drive!
-
im going to run the std one. I have a turbosmart e-boost which has awesome gate control, ie eliminates wastegate creep, so i wont need another actuator -at least thats the idea! havent used the eboost yet, but if it does what it says it does ill be sweet.
-
it also came with EVERYTHING needed to fit (a brand new fitting kit with exh gaskets and 90 degree compressor housing pipe, braided oil line etc etc) -and the genuine HKS manual.

Ezekrael as far as clutch choice goes, a search should reveal all the info you need. for around 900 fitted got me my extreme single plate ceramic button clutch with sprung centre. many members are using this clutch and its very usable. I think its good for 450hp, which means it should be fine unless you upgrade your turbo again and shoot for over 250rwkw.. then again whatsisname has over 250rwkw and that was his clutch choice too. evo- fuel pumps are INTERNAL on 33's and yes can still hear buzzing. No std turbo not good for 230rwkw. for HKS relevance heres my GT2530. i am assured by the supplier (a friend of a friend, who is the friend of the guy who bought the turbo new in japan!) that this turbo has done less than 2000km's in japan, cost me 1800bucks. Took it to ATS for inspection and they confirmed its perfect.
-
well its not making the 230 yet as the turbo is still waiting to go on. I have the usual full exhaust and intake mods, decent FMIC, extreme clutch, bosch 044 fuel pump, power FC computer. This got me 200rwkw. All i need for 230rwkw is a rising rate reg. and a retune of the FC. Although i may splash out on 550cc injectors just for peace of mind that no leaning out will occur. Ezekrael you have a fair bit more potential in your setup!

you dont have the plate RUSHN do you evo??
-
ex-zero, if you can wait a couple of months, ill have my car up in sydney with the HKS GT2530 fitted and tuned, ill take you for a spin and you can make your own opinion first hand.

there are people on both sides of the fence. Some say with HKS your just buying the name and that equivalent garrets will perform the same at cheaper cost, where as others will say "you simply wont get HKS numbers using garret stuff" (quoting martin donnon). I dont think its worth getting into unless we have a member who has done a back to back turbo comparison on the same engine. Otherwise this thread will just be pages of back and forth arguments, which is a waste of time if a conclusion is not met! evoiv, i plan to run 1.1 bar at first and hope to get around 230rwkw (its been done many times on RB's, showing you dont really need to run 1.5bar boost to get good power), then later on if i desire more power, change head gasket to drop compression (and inspect the tops of pistons and bores for condition while the head is off) and run maybe 1.3 bar. std turbo's are capable of high 12's, so i would hope to see mid 12's if traction can be achieved. dont take this the wrong way im not having a go at you evo, but it doesnt sound like you have any RB or skyline experience and are throwing down info on turbos that you dont really know about! It is well proven that a GT2530 is an excellent upgrade for an RB25. Evo's are awesom, but are very different horses for very differnt courses (compared to our RWD RB's)

btw not bagging big turbos, they obviously have their place and would be awesome fun, but on the street i would say its more about having a punchy, usable, and reliable package, and that a quick street car is certainly not defined by its peak power, but by its average power (ie the GT2530 might make less peak power, but more "average" power -and hence be quicker- than something bigger that has a higher peak figure.)
-
my car currently reels off 199rwkw at 12psi with std turbo. This power sounds insignificant when seeing all these 300rwkw monsters. BUT the reality is that my car with "only" 200 rwkw is a pretty mean street car! being in adelaide, most of the speed limits are pretty low, so i only really drag up to maybe 150kmph tops around the city (late at night!). 1st gear cannot be fully used even at 200rwkw due to loss of traction, and any more power would make 2nd gear pretty much the same. As a direct comparison to bigger turbos, ive run big external gate turbos on the street, and honestly, they suck 0-100. I murder them off the line (no one exactly runs nittos around here!) and by 120k's im on the brakes already, race over, and won! being in a 60 zone why would i want to run any faster than this? -its when im finished and on the brakes that these things come screaming past with ext gate barking. I cant see the point in a "pure" street car unless you have super traction, or slicks on the strip. ex-zero, in my opinion 200rwkw should be enough for most on the street! that all said, im also getting a 2530. As im running std internals, i dont want or need power over 250rwkw, plus what hasnt been mentioned is that while the 2530 only offers some 30rwkw PEAK power, the torque factor needs to be considered. From what ive been told the small HKS will give me significantly improved torque where i need it.

enclosed system i reckon

what is a water to air intercooler? Instead of air flowing over your intercooler tubes to remove heat, water is passed over the tubes instead... basically.

if i sell it it will be available in about 3 weeks when the new one goes on.
