  1. this thread should be removed altogether rather than locked.
  2. are you weary of letting it rev to 8000 for reasons of unnecessary engine wear and tear/failure, or because its not power productive to rev it so high? the stock rev limit is 8000 or so? I ask as i used to take mine up to 8000 quite frequently, and then a valve guide broke.. related?!
  3. Hi Mark, it seems like your questions are answered, mainly that if you're are chasing 600hp then you will need a bigger turbo. Some tomei poncams will net you more top end, as well as higher average power and torque throughout the range. It sounds like you guys have fun over there, how lenient are the police? Do you race from standing start or rolling run? because if you go to a bigger turbo you will likely just end up wasting time trying to get traction off the line, or bog down and then lose traction as it comes onto boost. if you want to be unbeatable, get one of those gtr's and apply your modding skills to that! if you go nuts on a RWD platform, you may get taken by less powerful cars due to circumstances mentioned above. Great work building it all up yourself and then tuning it! Dont be discouraged if you come across some unconstructive people, this is the internet afterall, but as you know there are some really great people on here that are happy to offer their help. cheers
  4. OMG. No external mods apart from the rims, and yet possibly the most gorgeous 33GTR ive ever seen. Much admiration to your modification style, with a performance spec that would seemingly want for nothing! If i didnt already have my 33gtr, id be on a plane to melb right now to buy yours. Hope it finds a worthy new home!
  5. The harness in the "fake harness link" does look pretty good considering how fake items are usually very easy to identify, simply from looking cheap and nasty. so what your saying is that onthelimit.co.nz are selling these 'fakes' also?
  6. cubes, we should meet up when im back at the end of the year, id love to check out your 3litre, might convert me over dropping a 26 into it! would be good fun to do some rolling run comparisons as well, and hopefully my gtr will be on the road by then too!
  7. cubes thats an awesome result, your running a 3litre yeah? would your 2835 be the same as mine ex housing wise? (still not even sure what housing i have... which one does the HKS kit come with again?) as i would have thought its a bit small for the extra exhaust flow from a 3litre? Simon from Morpowa is tuning it, as he has done all my past tunes and ive been happy with each of them. Who tuned yours? dunno if the honed stocker will give me an extra 20rwkw but will find out soon! will make a thread when its done. cheers
  8. thats a nice healthy figure you have for stock cams. As mentioned adding cams wont get you a lot more, but as i found out with my own setup, poncams will give you 15+rwkw more through the midrange and a noticeable improvement in torque, not forgetting helping it spool earlier. I find that for the street/city driving i do, my current peak of 280+rwkw is more than enough, and it will bag up in second gear just coming onto boost unless im on semislicks. Im just about to see how much difference an extrude honed ex mani will make, if any..! (cubes, its still happening! just waiting on some half shafts from Nissan for the new OS diff centre to go in, and then its on the dyno for the re-tune) speak of the devil, this just came through from my workshop! "the orange one is all done just waiting to get on the dyno so should be good to go next week" hopefully results very soon
  9. [DECIM8, how can you state that a GCG highflow will only last a year? Is this what GCG told you? It sounds like your making the statement based on example you know of, but i certainly wouldnt think that is the norm.
  10. Looks nice! when you pull it down you never know what your gunna find inside, might get lucky and find some good bits?! Able to say how much it set you back? (im interested in options for a conversion) cheers!
  11. my personal opinion, i invested in a forged 25, and now planning a 26dett, wishing id gone rb26 in the first place.
  12. ironchef, good projection on the NURs. correct me if im wrong but are you saying there has been next to nil depreciation over the last 8 years (at least in the case of the coupe you mentioned)?? how can that be possible? Surely there is a standard depreciation rate in Jpn as there is everywhere else?
  13. Congrats! I remember the anticipation and excitement of picking up my 33GTR, GOOD LUCK holding off those mods!!! Its just an FC away from being a different animal!
  14. that is sweeet. so this is a 'true' immac example. whats beer baron asking for this baby?
  15. R31Nismoid is on the money, with that MPH you should have closer to 220rwkw. i was flat 13 at 114mph with my dyno sheet reading 218rwkw with the HKS2530. Unless you drove it down the track in an unusual manner you should have a higher MPH for close to 250rwkw. by the way the 60ft'er for that run was a shocking 2.3!
  16. so you dont agree with what others have said about injectors, just call everyone kids. sure your not the kid? 300rwkw or thereabouts on standard injectors, i know its "been done" but is it the norm? i dont think so buddy. im not a tuner but i have been through the exact process he is going through with a stock motor and same turbo- so i dont have to be a tuner to know what his setup is capable of, and also to know that saying its due to a worn out engine sounds iffy. are you a tuning god?
  17. Im not saying these stockers arent making their claimed dyno figures, but as mentioned id like to see some track results to back up these numbers. where is sydneykid, id like to hear his input, he has buckets of experience especially with the gcg highflows and knows exactly what they will do. I think his last consensus was that a highflow with poncams is good for a MAX of around 265rwkw.
  18. Thats it right there. if they get cheaper in Jpn, importer competition will eventually bring the prices in line. End of the day if they drop in japan, it'll drive down the prices of the earlier imported cars. For those that want a 34 GTR this is good news as we just have to wait. not so good news for those who bought in the 80k range a year or 2 ago and might need to sell... I bought my 33gtr for 40k a few years ago, could probably have bought the same car now for 25k! Either way, aussies have great access to loads of performance cars at very reasonable prices. im in singapore at the moment where i think a 35GTR will set you back somewhere near 250k! A toyota camry costs AUD 70k ++ here, crazy...
  19. ^^exactly. if hes one of the top names im sure there will be a good reason behind what hes saying. You sure you dont have an NA motor thrown in there with all the turbo bits on it!? given the unknown life of these cars it might not be that surprising!
  20. yes good points. 7heavn how much is needed for top condition 34GTR from your experience? what put you off of the cheaper examples? I havent had a good look myself, was just going by pics id seen in ads and the owners stating "immaculate" (obviously this standard varies hugely from person to person), given that most late model 33's are still in pretty good condition i assumed the 34's would be also. I have also noticed that a lot of the 34's for sale are boasting redicuolusly low kms...
  21. It seems you can easily find immaculate 34gtr's for around 45grand, i consider this a bargain already considering that not too long ago you needed a good 70grand to get into one! how much do you think the local release of the new GTR will affect 34GTR prices? how low could they go?!
  22. not bad for old turbos! but yeah why retain so much stock gear? id be presuming you must have been quite happy with it in stock form, and just wanted a bit more from it. what is the stock 32gtr gear, fuel system, and turbos good for power wise? The 34's are good for almost 300rwkw with just some basic breathing mods and an fc arent they?
  23. mmm Nandos... skydragon whos your tuner/workshop?
  24. hi mate, i guess its pretty clear now that you need to bump up your supporting mods in line with the 260ish rwkw you should be able to make, and that you should try a new tuner for not pointing that out to you cheers PS from memory i dont recall my 2835proS kit having an adjustable actuator, or does it?
