mid 12's at 115mph? I have an old timeslip at home from WSID, running my hks 2530 on 100% stock motor, no special suspension just re55's, if i recall correctly i ran 12.5 @115mph, with a 1.9sec 60ft! i will try and dig up the slip later to confirm. If i remember, peak power at the time was just under 218rwkw. Its not the peak that you feel with the 2530, its the punch it gives you mid range, which is fun and makes for great overtaking I enjoyed the 2530 every moment i had it, but the 2835pro i have on it now, -but then if its a budget consideration forget it..

Anyone Running Hks 2540's On An Rb26?
SLY33 replied to Buckyuk's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
whats wrong with single tb? -
I agree, just looking through their site makes want to get them to build me an engine! They sound like they have everything sorted, well designed packages, their 3 litre stuff looks great, looks like awesome work. Unfortunately he said it would also take about 1 month to build.. so i guess its either wait for it, and possibly miss out on getting the car 100% finished by xmas time, or just use the nismo plenum that should be arriving any day now..
-
wow their stuff looks amazing! im waiting for their reply. cheers!

Hi guys, decided to run a single throttle plenum setup on my RB28, trouble is im having a hard time finding one! I settled on the hypertune plenum, but was told none will be made for about 3 weeks. What other choices do i have for single throttle plenums that are readily available? I'd love to get this motor finished as soon as possible, and ive spent most of the build duration waiting for parts! If anyone has something lying around please let me know. cheers

if i remember correctly, around the 3.5k mark.

or, you guys could all continue to wait until i finally swap over my extrude honed manifold and get some results, unfortunately dont hold your breath tho Wow, im pretty damn sure i didnt pay 600 bucks! One thing i remember him saying was the smoother flow resulting in less heat. ie, before where a manifold would glow red hot after some hard dyno runs, it wouldnt do so once ported. So possibly benefit there too. Cubes, i think i remember that thread you refer to, and if i remember correctly, it was the 'extrude honed' standard mani that flowed some figures similar to some of the aftermarket ones, not the untouched version. ? edit, actually cubes your sort of right, i just checked, the HKS cast mani was shown to flow just 10cfm more than the stock untouched mani, meaning the ex honed std mani would far better the stock HKS in terms of just 'flow'. Setup is as in sig, not with stock turbo

How safe is Australia these days? Im now living in Singapore, where they have the cane and the death penalty, and you dont see stupid feral sh!t like that. I say bring it home!

Try giving Andrew a call

Yeah i figured the engine dyno run in would be pretty safe, plus i want to know as close as possible the actual engine output, without having to convert back from the wheels. Any one else done this on a new motor? The Nismo plenum's in the mail, but have been discussing a single throttle plenum with my engine builder.. seems to be a large range, from under a grand for a greddy plenum, up to 3grand plus for a Jun. You get people swearing by a single throttle setup with a big single turbo, but then you get those showing big HP figures running a STOCK plenum.. So its a bit confusing. I recall Sydneykid telling me that with a MAP sensor based ECU such as what ill be using, that a single throttle will be much easier to tune. Im just wondering if theres gonna be much of a trade off, 6throttle vs single throttle response wise? End of the day, the things built for power, so a single throttle makes sense. But its also more money, considering ive already bought the nismo plenum
-
it would, but first you have to get it to hold 20psi thru the top end not so easy. Have you looked at the new turbonetics or is your choice narrowed down between the garretts? BTW, machining the heads for cam clearance, cant that be done with the head on?
-
It will, but you will end up with one hella expensive RB25, why not throw in a 26?
-
when you say its not displaying the speed, do you mean a) it shows the speed on the hand controller display at 0km/hr at all times b) there is no indicator of km/hr on your controller display? if its a) i cant help you, but if its b) you just need to set it to display the speed i havent touched my controller in ages so cant tell you step by step but its simple.

There's not really a power aim anymore! i was literally about to purchase an HKS TO4z kit, when i was told these were just about to come out. before i was aiming for around 460rwkw with the TO4z based on others' results. Apparently the GTK will push out more power with similar response to the TO4z, well at least thats the idea, its certainly rated higher. I think the GTK850 is like a T51R KAI, but with a 0.8 ex housing so should be decent response. Id be more than happy if we could see 800hp at the engine, but with a 0.8ex housing, i wouldnt bet on it, on race fuel maybe, but on pump, we will see. rb26s13, you wont have to wait till its in the car to see results Its getting run-in then tuned on an engine dyno, so i will have a true "at the engine" HP figure. Im waiting on my Nismo plenum from greenline, then wiring up the motec. Once the plenum has arrived, if the workshop isnt flat out shouldnt be too far off. cheers!

with the price of front mount kits these days, wouldnt it be better to spend a bit more and save yourself a future upgrade?

i saw 260 knock when my valve guide broke

Thanks guys, its been a long time coming.. i looked back to when i started getting parts just after the engine failed, it was 2 years ago! Careless, i dont have a full buildup thread, i may have posted some pics of the crank during the early stages of the build. Once its all done ill post some specs. Dale FZ1, its just your garden variety X-Force manifold Apparently improved over the initial ones that cracked easily, supposedly increased strengthening and material thickness. Cost was less than a grand, car will hardly be used, so we figured we'd give it a go. rb26s13, spot on, its an 850. Btw the purple is from the old engine, its getting changed
-
who remembers the original thread on this bulid!? I moved overseas shortly after starting it, must be well over a year since i started the rebuild, but after countless $$$$$ its finally one piece!! Just awaiting the nismo plenum from greenline and the finishing touches of the assembly before the engine dyno-run-in/tune. Turbo is from the new Turbonetics GT-K series, i believe one of the first to land in Aus, supposedly a bit more huff than a TO4Z, we will shortly see... Cubes, i still have that ex-honed mani for the gts!, will resume the re-testing in the GTS-t once this engine is bolted back in the GTR

thanks for the responses, by negatives i mean things like, will they rub, does the 10.5inch wide rim cause any undesirable driving characteristics such as affecting suspension geometry etc.. i realise it will depend on tyre size also. I consider having to run spacers negative too, but at this width with correct offset it wouldnt be necessary. Just wanted to know if there was a reason why i couldnt find anyone running the 10.5's, with the 9.5s being quite common. Basically i wanted to confirm that the correct offset of +18 would fit snugly and not require any extreme guard modifications. cheers BTW nice avatar onedollar, who is that?
-
Im looking at some Volk ce28n's in 18 x 10.5 for 33gtr I went through the whole wheel size ond offsets thread but found no one running that size. Available offsets are +18, 35, 45. Id just like to confirm that its the +18 offset i want? Anyone link me any pics of that setup? lastly, are there any negative points to using 10.5s as oposed to the more commonly used 9.5 inch wide version? thanks for any help

lol, after reading all the posts, its not as bad as i thought! gotta love those seat coverings!

my brother stripped, sandblasted and painted mine for me, came up literally like new. Will see if i can get him to comment on the details

Hi Danoz, Im 'nearly' done with my HKS 2.8 build, im using a turbonetics GT-K850 which may have the potential to see 700 at the wheels. They rate it up to 850hp, but its a 0.8 ex housing so i doubt it'd see that on a 2.8, but it should be somewhere in between a T04z and a T51R Kai. If you havent chosen yet you could consider the turbonetics turbo. Im hoping for t04z-like response with more power. Ill save Sydneykid the time and say that the power level you require is not going to be as good as a lesser powered more responsive setup, on the street or track. However my build is more for shits n giggles Id rather the option of swapping down to a smaller more responsive turbo, than feel i have to swap up for more power as i have in the past.
