  1. I highly doubt it is a problem with your cat, more likely the exhaust manifold gasket or turbo exhaust gasket etc has gone. Yeah its a common problem, and no it wont be just a few bolts that need tightening. Any old exhaust place should be able to do it.
  2. Yeah took about an hour, I watched the whole thing. Included 2 ciggie breaks.
  3. Dont exhaust temps increase when a car is running leaner rather than richer? So get ur AFR checked out on a dyno. My cat temp light began flashing when i started running Boost98 petrol, put it on the dyno and the AFRs were 13.5:1
  4. It cost me $80 to get my batmbl split dump and 5 inch metal cat installed. Better than risking breaking a turbo stud in your garage... IMHO
  5. Mine was about $450 for timing belt change, including the belt, and an oil and oil filter change. So i guess $150 for parts, so $300 labour. Sounds about right.
  6. Cigarette lighter wires. best thing for guages, has everything you want... and really easy to get to. 12V positive Negative 12V Lights on wire
  7. This product doesnt protect against defect notices in Victoria Andru. Pod filters are legal in vic mate, as long as you dont have a FMIC as well. And if you have one of these air boxes and a FMIC you can still be defected...
  8. I also had a good day.... My car went on near the end of the day when most people had left, was happy with my 140kW or so. Last dyno day I had 128kW, so the batmbl split dump and metal cat has added a bit. I also was trying Boost 98 octane 10% ethanol fuel for my run. I know this has been debated before but i guess now we have evidence that YOU CANNOT RUN BOOST 98 FUEL in a lightly modded car if it is not SPECIFICALLY TUNED for the fuel. My AFRs where between 1 and 2 points too lean throughout the rev range. I'll post the dyno graphs up later. But I do recommend that next time we keep a list of who is next on the dyno etc... I didn't mind staying around all day (til 5pm or so since 11.30am) to have my turn but I know that some people were getting a bit sick of waiting. Cheers, Rhett
  9. Yes, I dare say most of them did not have the aero package
  10. I'll be there working... Been there for 4 weeks so far, 1 to go. Gotta love having a management pass and being able to go whereever i want...
  11. Its probably the fog/driving light button off an r32 gtst.
  12. if its too loud, you will get in trouble for it.
  13. 70% - Agriculture 20% - Industry 10% - Domestic or something like that. Straight from the Water Policy and Management subject i did at uni last year.
  14. I cant see how the level off water restrictions and the lack of water has ANYTHING to do with which state government is in power. Build new dams? What a fkd idea, another empty dam helps noone.
  15. Ohh I'm in please! For a run or three on the dyno... Cheers, Rhett
  16. Di you have the handcontroller plugged in before you connect the power/turn the car on? You have to have the controller plugged in before you turn the car on... or else it doesnt display anything. at least thats how it works with mine.
  17. Did RE customs modify the outlet pipe for you? Ive got a r34 sidemount sitting in my bedroom waiting to be modified, the last place i went to get a quote wanted $120 just for moving the outlet to the other side.. If you dont mind me asking what did you pay for the modification and install? Was going to do it myself but there are a lot of things I was going to do myself and have never got around to doing...
  18. Well I watched the G-man put it back in when he installed the cat. And I'm pretty sure that noone has broken into my car over the last few months and stealthily installed a power fc without me knowing about it... So i guess apexi use it as the check light because it is the otherwise most useless light in the dash? So i'll just ignore it. thanks.
  19. Hey all, I have had my metal 5 inch cat installed for a while now in my r32 gtst, and lately in hot weather or a long time driving my cat over-temperature light sometimes flashes. Should I be worried? Is it important or just because of the new type of cat? (metal vs. ceramic) Or is it a sign that my car is running lean? It does it with Optimax, BP Ultimate and Boost 98. Cheers, Rhett
  20. I'm 98% sure that under the old SEVS rules that ANY R32 older than July 1992 could not be imported, be it a GTR or GTSt or GTSt Type-M. Under the old scheme, there were two types of compliance plates - blue ones for SEVS imports (the majority of them) and pink/orange ones for private imports - cars which the owner had in japan for at least a year, then moved to Aus and bought it over with them. So there should never be a 90-June 92 R32 in Australia with a blue compliance plate. The 1990 to June 1992 cars must be private imports with pink/orange comp plates.
  21. Got mine today too..... woohoo another part that will sit in my bedroom for months until i get off my arse and get it installed. its sitting next to my cooler, boost controller, AFR controller, cooler water spray kit, brake pads etc etc.... Positive Trader info left. Thanks, Rhett
  22. Get a courier to drop into her work and deliver a bag of self-raising flour. She'll love the pun AND the originality. and then in a few week's time when she forgives you you might have some great make-up s3x.
  23. OK, after thinking about it, since it is a 91 model it must be a used private import, as only July 1992 onwards cars can be imported under SEVS/RAWS. (As Nissan sold the R32 GTR in Aus before then.) That and the 1989 models that came in under the 15 year old scheme. Rhett
  24. Isnt a pink plate for a used private import? As in the owner had it in japan for over 12 months and then imported it to Australia. And the green one is for regular SEVS or RAWS or whatever.
  25. I got a batmbl stainless split dump/front pipe and a 5 inch metal cat in a group buy a while ago. Had both installed for $80, as i couldnt be bothered risking breaking the turbo exhaust flange studs and having my car stuck at home... Anyway there was a noticable increase in power, at a guess 15-20kW? And it seems to spool faster as well. My car is completely stock power mods wise except for the cat back exhaust and pod filter, and now the new bits. I would also think that the 5 inch metal type cats would probably be less of a restriction than a 3 inch home-gutted stock cat.
