Victoria doesnt have a seperate CTP. You pay your rego, and it has the insurance included in it already. Are you talking about third party insurance? Then places like Just cars and Shannons etc are your best bet. But I'd highly reccommend getting comprehensive insurance. It seems expensive but you get what you pay for.

Man this question gets asked every second day. Either; 1. Do a search or 2. Learn how to read guages properly, they have a unit written on them you know.

Got Me Some Rice But Don't Know How To Cook!
xRHETTx replied to lingeringsoul's topic in General Automotive Discussion
best place to wire to is the cigarette lighter. Its easy to get too, you probably dont use it much, and it has everything you need: earth (negative), positive and illumination wires. I dont know why people always say to hook boost guages up to the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line, the easiest is to just hook it up to where the stock guage gets its reading from. There is a small rubber hose in the top drivers side corner of the engine bay that goes from a little box on the firewall to the back of the plenum chamber, just bung it in there. Oh and with the dimmer switch thing, they are ment to be installed for compliance, Ive got one but the wiring has never been hooked up. Dodgy as. -

Why Is Nissan Turning silly And Lame
xRHETTx replied to craig V8 taffe's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yeah alot of people hear just think about the turbo Skylines and Silvias when they think of Nissan. They don't think about the CA18E powered 4 door GX Skylines etc that are crap cars too. -
I thought Ideal were the only supplier of genuine recaros in Australia? 98% sure they still do recaros. Wait, make that 100%, just read the article in this months HPI about the recaros in the R34 GTT. www.idealseat.com.au

Nice job there. Do you wanna swap your 2006 Monash permit for my 2005 Monash permit? ;-) Couldnt buy one this year and got away with using it until last week, got $128 worth of fines in 2 days!! Nah seriously, car is looking good, always thought of getting my car detailed...

IMHO No way is that going to be the new Evo... Looks all wrong, with no real carry-over from the previous models. And it says concept on the rear, so its probably just a concept car. And you would think that they would have release the newest Evo in Japan before showing at some skank-arse Mod show in wherever the hell the photos are taken, looks like downtown LA.

Anyone Seen One Of These Before?

Its a sticker, why would it not be able to fit in a car? Idiots. But the gearknow looks really cool, and is that late 80's early 90's retro japanese cool style that it might just be genuine... -

CAnt be bothered reading the rest of the thread but i think HPI is going downhill too. I remember a year ago or so the editor saying that they would never have big product "reviews" in HPI. And now, guess what, they have pages of wheel, seat, turbo, electronics, etc etc etc so called "guides". Its all just advertising. Perhaps if they had critical reviews of the products and dealers it would be better. It needs more meaningful tech articles and less shit. And me i dont even like the cars they usually have, what do i care about what other people are doing to their cars with $200k budgets? I want to know what i can do to my car, the average person who maybe spends a few grand a year on their car.

Wow, you are posting on the forums from your mobile phone? Thats awesome. Me, I'm using a QWERTY keyboard attached to my computer, it makes it a lot easier to type full words.

Stock R32 Gtst Power Figure (at The Rear Wheels)?
xRHETTx replied to {AMO}'s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
My car made 128kW with pod filter and cat back, so wazza's figures I think are pretty accurate (in my case at least). -
Whats wrong with getting an R33 GTSt clutch? How much power are you making etc....?
-
They talked about this (at least putting in the intercooler cold piping) in a recent issue of HPI magazine. Seems like a good idea, as long as the AFM can hold up to the increased pressure (which I'd assume it can, we are talking in almost every case of less than 2 bar)
-
Yeah Ive got a pivot stepping motor boost guage on my r32, it seems the stock one is pretty close. With just a cat back and filter its running 0.7-0.75bar which is 10-11psi i guess. The conversion from 100mmHg (what the factory guage is in) to psi is times by 1.934. So +7 on the factory guage is 13.5psi.

Where are all you guys getting all this info from?? The Vicroads Modification guide has no maximum wheel diameter rules in it at all. I still stick by my comment of being allowed rims with any diameter, as long as the wheel and tyre diameter doesnt change by more than 15%... https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/vrpdf/rdsafe/VSI%208.pdf
-
There is no real reason why the stock boost guages would be highly innaccurate, unless the sender has failed? IMHO usually people go for aftermarket boost guages (and oil pressure and water temp) as they have more increments and are easier to read. With only 4 increments or so on the stock one its quite hard to read accurately. The difference between 12psi and 14psi is hard to judge for example, and one is safe and the other is possibly not.
-
Ha! My R32 doesnt have a boost controller except for the wastegate, it runs 0.75bar. 60% of the time, it works all of the time. But go build a Jaycar IEBC and hand controller - cheap AND good - and fun to make. $140 max.

Air Compressors For Pneumatic Tool Use.
xRHETTx replied to Shaun's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Your best to talk to a proper air compressor supplier than going to bunnings or supercheap etc. Let them know what you want and what you need it for etc and they'll work out exactly what you need. eg. if its only irregular use, a small recip one will prob do, and with a large air receiver (tank) you could get away with short bursts of high use. but if its constant regular use get a proper rotary screw compressor. Theyre not cheap though. -
Why no rego for 17"s? Its not illegal. In vic you can go as big as you want in diameter for wheels, as long as the rolling diameter doesnt increase by much. Good to see you got it in the end though. This is why i always go to Dromana Vicroads - they dont deal with imports very often as you could expect...
-
If the cops caught you with one of these you'd better have a tub o' lube handy... And I'd very much doubt that it would fold up by itself at high speed.

Yeah i know its in the wrong section but i thought more people would see it out here. Just found this vid on youtube of the new GTR, pity there doesnt seem to be any sound though... Cheers, Rhett
