  1. ava look at this then... Rhett
  2. I used to put on 500-600kms a week with my line a few years ago. Man imagine paying for that now... Nowadays about a tank a week so ~430kms.
  3. Why would the bigger injectors give you any extra power? As long as the GTR ones can flow enough to get the right amount of fuel in, there's no point in upgrading again? Maybe decreased fuel efficiency? As always, correct me if I'm wrong...
  4. I know this is slightly off topic, but I'm heading to Sapporo in Hokkaido in Jan on a snowboarding trip, and was looking to pick up a few small parts for my car whilst there. Are used/new part stores common? ie. will i just run into one whilst there in the main city areas or will i need to hunt out a store out in an industrial estate etc... Just after a few small common items (guages, cam gears etc, whatever i can find cheap really.)
  5. This thread is way too good to just be in the Stag section... My name's Rhett, like from Gone with The Wind that old movie. And I used to, during high school, like a type of music called "straight-edge hardcore." Sort of punk music where everyone doesnt drink, eat meat or fight etc... except me coz i like those things too much (except the fighting bit). Everyone used to draw big Xes on their hands and go to concerts, and if you were really cool you'd put Xes in front and at the end of your name. Hence xRHETTx. Man I was so not cool back then. Also its my email addy at hotmail.
  6. In the episode last night he just got delivery of his new Ford GT40 or whatever? I know their old episodes that are on know though. The funny thing was he couldn't start it as his immobiliser wouldn't unimmobilise the engine...

    Should I Buy?

Also, if you are buying it from a dealer remember you do have the compulsory 3 month warranty. He might not have mentioned it but you get 3 months warranty with car purchases if the price is over $3k or something. Correct me if I'm wrong though, it was a while since i looked into it.

    Should I Buy?

Intercooler fan? Maybe its for the drink cooler in the glovebox? Believe it or not it was an option... Anyway, it looks like a great car (from the other side of a computer screen). If you can get it for a bit cheaper, good on you. But then again if you are happy with the car and it is the best condition one you have seen, it may be worth the extra $1k. As I'm sure others will agree with me, buying a good quality car in the first place is the key to being happy with your purchase. I bought my R32 GTSt 3 years ago, was absolutely the best one out of the 20 or so i had seen (and 5 or so i had seriously considered and driven). I paid $16500 back then. And I dont regret it at all, I havent had a problem since...
  9. Get the good car now - you know you want it... And the $8k or so you could invest now is basically nothing compared with the income you will be earning once you start full time work after uni.
  10. I dont know my cat is still sitting on my bedroom floor with all my dirty socks and stuff. Hopefully it'll go on next week.
  11. I think its funny. Sort of like a shopping list that says Centrelink Safeway Kelvinator Dick Smith in all funny japanese letters. PS I've already got a patent out on this idea so no copying....
  12. Get one from BATMBL off these forums. Easy to deal with and fit first time. Either just get a regular high flow one or go all out and get the 5" metal cat. Thats what i did.
  13. Ahhh. My car is a series 2 R32, and yours is series 1 i presume (1990)? Would that be the difference? I have whatever the normal headlights are for 92 R32 Type-Ms.
  14. No Dezz you've misunderstood his post. Any intercooler is a restriction to flow of air from the turbo to the engine, thats part of how they work. Say your engine is running at 10PSI boost, and you standard R33 intercooler restricts the flow by 3PSI. This means your turbo is actually producing 13PSI to get 10PSI at the engine. By installing the R34 cooler, as it is bigger, its restriction is reduced, say to 2PSI. This means the engine is receiving 11PSI when the turbo is running at 13PSI. And therefore making more power. The other way an intercooler is a restriction to airflow is to the ambient air that flows past it. The Stock SMIC, although they have a small frontall area for the air to flow through, have good ducting that forces the air the flow through the cooler fins, rather than around it. Many aftermarket FMIC have crap ducting, so air flows around it rather than through it. In addition, the air then must flow through the radiator aswell at an increased temperature. For your info replacing an R32/R33 cooler with an R34 or ARC SMIC will not be counted as an intake mod, as the dimension (roughly) and the mounting location hasn't been changed from standard. This is what i plan to do with my R32, as i'm looking for only 180-200kw in the foreseeable future, and dont wish to have to get a new front bar and cut holes etc, and for ease of installation. Cheers, Rhett
  15. OK just ran out to my car and looked at my spare globes... Its a normal old H1 globe. Dont know if they just fit or if they were changed during compliance, but I've never done anything to the globe fittings etc. Or are you referring to the high beam globes? Maybe they are H3C, i've never had to change them... Rhett
  16. Check out BATMBL on this forum. His stuff is good, with split dump/front pipes available. But i'm not sure how you will go with havig an R34 turbo on an RB20, you might have to make some modifications.
  17. One of the big issues with the new VE Commodore is that it needs to sell well to save the local car manufacturing industry. If it doesn't sell, it will most probably mean the end of GM/Holden car production in Australia, and may even wipe Ford and Toyota out as well, not to mention all the little manufacturers of car parts in Australia. So really the car industry (including Wheels/Drive etc) is just acting in its best interest by over-rating the new commodore (in some peoples opinion). I mean I'm no fan of the new commodore but i can see what will happen if car production stops in Aus, tens of thousands of people will be out of work and all cars will be imported from overseas.
  18. How are the AFRs? If it start to run lean at high rpm, you need to upgrade. If not, dont bother.
  19. Yeah i agree with Ni, when i had to get new globes i walked straight into autobarn with one of my broken globes and there was about 4-5 different types i could choose from right there? They are hardly not common. My Phillips ones are the whitest (bluest) legal available and came with free indicator globes and cost less than $50.
  20. Got mine today! Looks good - everything I expected. I'd leave trader feedback but cant work out how to do it? It seems not to be working at the moment. EDIt - cancel that I worked it out, positive feedback left.
  21. Fritter people like you make me so f**king angry!!! If you don't get it, why dont you just dissappear? You are going to have to start a new account when you get banned, so why not start it somewhere else? And you are not a member of our club anyway. Rhett
  22. You cannot remap R34 ECUs. So just save and get a power-FC. Only R32 GTSt ecu's can be remapped.
  23. R32 globes are just normal H1 or H3 or something. Every car shop has them, autobarn, super cheap etc etc. IMHO dont go any bluer (if thats a word) than the street-legal ones, they start looking stupid. ..and wouldn't you feel stupid getting a defect (and having to clear it) just coz you want globes a little bit bluer.
  24. Awesome.
  25. Ive owned mine for 3 years now and done 80,000kms. So far i've replaced the clutch, front brake pads and discs and the tyres, and changed the timing belt at 100,000kms. Thats it. Plus regular service stuff of course, oil + filter, spark plugs, fuel filter etc. So nothing at all has gone wrong, they are very reliable cars.
