Yeah it would be almost impossible to comply. $2800 for compliance? Take them up for it, and make sure it includes all costs.. Theres probably a hundred hours work to bring it back to stock condition.

Exactly what he said^^^^ If the damage is 80% or so of the value of the car, it is a write off. You can either take the whole amount of money and they keep the wreck, or they work out how much they think the wreck is worth and then you can keep the car and get the remainder of the money. In the case of a skyline, you are probably better off keeping the wreck and selling bits off it. At least take all the aftermarket stuff off first. If you can be bothered and have the time.

How old was the timing belt? Did you tell him to change it when he was doing the water pump?

A r32 gtst is not illegal, its under the limit.

This is what happened to me in my old R31 a few years ago, i was the car in front. If you are completely stopped, and you are hit from behind and are pushed into the car in front of you, its not your fault. Both cars are claimed on the guy that hit you's insurance. I guess this is because as you are completely stopped, any distance between you and the car infront of you is a safe distance.

Or get a speed meter or something that cancels the speed limiter.

Ah no i didnt buy one, i couldnt get the centre out of my gearknob so i couldnt try a new insert. I went to Autobarn in Brighton Vic, they had heaps of inserts under the counter. I originally asked for the cheapest knob they had but i got talking with the sales guy and he had an R33 and new what i was talking about. Hes not on the forums though, how could you have a skylinein Aus and not be on www.skylinesaustralia.com ? Its a great way to waste a fair chunk of your life.

I went into Autobarn the other day and they sell the inserts by themselves, so you dont have to buy a gearknob. But since i still cant get the plastic out of the centre of mine i couldnt try any to see if they fit. :-(

I might be able to help with electronic boost guages. Ive recently installed an electronic Pivot boost guage in my r32. Dont have any photos though. Basically, its all the same, Except the air line that plugs into the back of the guage plugs into a pressure transducer instead (looks like a little black box). Try to place the transducer as close to the source as possible (keep the air line short) to improve response, under the dash is good as you dont want it under the bonnet (too hot) and it cant get wet. The transducer needs +12V power, negative and has a signal wire going from it to the actual guage. The guage itself will need +12V power from the ignition, +12V from the lights and a negative (or earth). The easiest place to get all three of these is the cigarette lighter.

Yeah i guess the split is not 3 inch all the way but it has less exhaust flowing through it the a true 3 inch dump, plus you get the benefit of the split.

Yeah im down to $908 a year rating one 23 with Just cars. Started at 21 on rating 3 at $1700. Being in SA im guessing your insurance will be about $2k, try doing an online quote on the just cars website, then when ur serious give them a call. I found it was a fair bit cheaper when i rang them compared to the online quote.

All cars that came in under SEVS or RAWS or whatever have to get side indicators. All the 15 year hacks dont have them. Your guards definately are standard GTS ones.

Mine were $175 each, im sure 16s would be a little cheaper still. If you want hankooks the best way to find where to them is on their website. All the dealers listed there have them for cheaper than anywhere else.

Well you can get your discs machined for about $25 each, or you can get new discs for $200 or so. I know what i'd do... Just keep getting them machined whenever they get ridges in them. You can keep getting them machined until they get too thin, then they will have to be replaced. You can find the minimum thickness allowed on the DBA website www.dba.com.au

Hey anyone who has installed the IEBC on an R32 GTSt, where did you mount the solenoid? I've got a stock R33 GTSt boost solenoid complete with bracket, just wondering if there is a good and easy place to mount it? Ie. no modification required. Also, should i run the positive wire straight to the battery and earth the solenoid via the IEBC, or wire it all up at the ecu? Thanks, Rhett

Dont wait until ur old to get your skyline, just get at least a year driving experience (on your P's) before you get it. I got mine within a month of getting of my P's (21), and im glad i waited. But im also glad i got it when i did, you may as well get a fast car when you want one and can. If you wait too long you'll get sucked into buying a house instead. And insurance isnt that bad, i just got rating 1 the other day and am now down to $900 a year (with rating one protection)
