  1. 40 psi hot, as recommended by the instructor when i went to the Driver Dynamics advanced driving course here in Vic. Improved wet weather handling, tyre wear and feel of the road etc, with a slight loss is grip. If i wanted max grip, id run much less pressure, but the handling would be shit. IMHO
  2. Could someone not just look into their Magic cat and see if the stainless steel mesh is coated with something? I know it wont be proof that the cat would pass or fail an EPA test but at least it would put the rumor that the cat isnt coated at all to rest.
  3. As long as its pumbled out the side i think its a good idea. You'll prob save 10-15kg of exhaust and make 10-15kW or so more, so it would make a difference. I suppose it depends if you run a std cat and how good your normal exhaust is?
  4. It looks like the correct boss kit, very similar to mine. Does the boss kit just not fit on the spline? Its a taper fit, so it might be pretty hard to get on, just jiggle it around a bit?
  5. If you dont want or need to spend the money to get a PFC, there are plenty of cheaper options to get rid of the speed limiter. Most aftermarket rev/speed meters will override the speed cut. Ive got an old Ultra brand speed meter that does 0-400m ET and top speed and has a trip computer sort of thing, and it cuts it out. Im sure you'd be able to pick up a second hand one for less than $100.
  6. Its pretty bad, why not just stick with the current design? The current model WRX STI in black is one of the sexiest cars going around... IMHO
  7. Hey its going to piss a lot of you guys off but as a victorian who had to deal with the same thing here in Vic for the 3 years i drove on my p's between ages 18-21, i totally agree with the NSWs governments decision. The fact is that it is an effective way to reduce road deaths of young people, who are way over-represented in the death toll. I know if i had a RWD turbo car on my P's, i would probably have killed myself, even though out of my group of friends I am one of the most responsible drivers, with no fines or accidents so far. It is simply a matter of inexperienced drivers and fast cars - they dont mix! Just be glad you guys can drive when ur 17!
  8. 92 model onwards (series 2) had orange indicators, shouldnt be too hard to find some. Maybe someone would even swap for ur clear ones?
  9. WRX's have speed limiters too...
  10. Hi, If your in victoria and you want to be a paying member of the club, there are already stickers to distinguish you as a paying member. Otherwise there are www.skylinesaustralia.com stickers around somewhere.
  11. Ive got dba4000 slotted on front with rb74 pads and they work heaps better than the stock stuff i had before. They heat up pretty fast, as Dave said usually within the first minute or so of driving theyre not so good, but after that their great!
  12. Mine works with my turbo timer. I'll look tonight to see if ive got the part number lying around
  13. My car pops sometimes when i change gears or take my foot of the accelerater. I have stock BOV plumbed back, so it still happens with atmo venting bovs.
  14. Just a question, why cant it be complied if its an 89 model?
  15. Nah the alarm place did it at the same time as they put the other alarm in. The jaycar kit comes with instructions though, maybe go in and have a look at them?
  16. Yeah mine is a separate unit, $69 from Jaycar. Installed on top of my existing immobiliser/alarm.
  17. Get one thats already in the country, complianced and roadworthy, that will make your life a lot easier. You should be able to get a really good one for $18k. Keep in mind that to transfer the rego to ACT you will probably need to get it roadworthied in the ACT again. Since you are 24 and have rating 1 (60% no claim bonus) you should be able to get insurance for cheaper than $1900. The Just cars online form is more expensive than what you'll get if you just RING THEM. I found my insurance was $300 cheaper when i rang to the price i got with the online quote system. Rego will be about the same, it does depend on the weight of the car though so it may be slightly more than for the civic. As long as you buy a car thats already on the street in Aus you wont have to worry about engineering, unless its modified and you want to make it "super legal."
  18. Ive got one on my r32 now, works great i guess. Mr_G is correct, its like a normal immobiliser, you get a certain amount of time before it activates. You can even manually turn it off (into valet mode) if your worried about it. Just remember to turn it back on.
  19. Different states, different rules. In vic you have to display them in the window, in NSW dont you guys jam them behind the number plates or something? And in QLD they dont have to display them at all? My friend had an accident the other day, not serious but someone rang the police. She got done for failing to give way (2 demerit points) and done for not showing her p plates (3 points). 5 points within a year is automatic licence suspension for p platers in vic.
  20. You need an oil pump/squeeze thing to put more oil in. Gearbox oil change probably cost about $50, more if you want special oil.
  21. funkymonkey on these forums has a car with gold badges, apparently it was a 30th anniversary model or something. Maybe check your VIN number in the FAST software program?
  22. X-speed in WA has do luck copies for that price.
  23. One word: Radical I want one.
