ABS was an option for R32 GTSt's so you dont have to get it from a gtr. Apparently its a very costly and hard thing to put in, thats what ive heard.

Buy a new gear and handbrake boots for jayson on this forum... There is a post in the for sale section, something like $70, with a donation to SAU. They look great. There are pics in the thread.

Mmmm.... 20% off, it might just make their prices for disc rotors almost as cheap as ABS... Thanks

Which brake discs R32 GTSt?
xRHETTx replied to xRHETTx's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah they quoted me for DBA4000's but the quote was ridiculous. They knew it was a crap price but just told me to got to autobahn or bursons and they would match their price - which was crap too. ABS and racebrakes are by far the cheapest ive come across. -
How about banning dori whoever from selling stuff on the forums until he gets this mess sorted out? I see he has just posted again selling short shift kits, despite being on holidays/in sydney/no internet/whatever other excuse for breaking the law by passing off a product as something else?

You have to click on Doluck onthe left hand side menu.

Which brake discs R32 GTSt?

RDA doesnt have a performance based disc do they? I guess their slotted rotors would be similar to the DBA909s, but would come close to the 4000 series rotors? -
Hey guys x-speed do replica kits of do luck stuff. For a T2 kit for r32 (which includes front bar, side skirts and rear bar, all the good stuff) its about $1300 i think. Eventually i want this kit for my r32. http://www.xspeed.dreamhost.com Rhett

I was told to run my tyres at 40psi hot by Kevin from Driver Dynamics at his advanced driving course which i attended last year. He said it improved handling (turning) and improved traction and reduced aquaplaning in the wet. So thats what i was basing my opinion on. My car is stock so traction is not so much of an issue, is there a compromise between handling (turning) and traction when running tyres at say 32psi? Do the dimensions of the tyre/wheel combination influence the pressure you should run in them? Ive got 17x9s with 235s on them, i guess the pressures i should have for them would be different than say a stock wheel with 205s or whatever? Rhett

Some places do tafe courses in things like motorsport and race engineering and stuff like that. Im thinking about doing one of these courses when i finish uni if i get a chance. Maybe an apprenticeship and something like that would help? But yeah keep bugging the performance workshops, i mean they have to take in apprentices at some stage? Dont do mech eng at uni unless you are competant at maths, most of its theory. And by competant i dont mean adding up and dividing etc, i mean calculus, integration etc.

Thanks Jarrod. Ill go with the DBA4909s then. Does anyone know anywhere that could do them for less than the $246ea Racebrakes quoted me? Although i think this is a pretty good price, since i tried supercheap, bursons, repco etc and got crazy quotes of ~$350ea Jarrod are you coming to the GOR cruise next weekend? Rhett -
BINGO! Thats why.

Hey i found somewhere that stocks copies.... x-speed, search for them and you'll find their website. They are based in perth, and i think the whole kit is about $1300! But dont tell anybody, i dont want everyone having this kit before i can afford to get one. ;-)

I'm currently in my final year of a mechanical engineering degree, and i can tell you that you get no hands on fabricating knowledge at all from doing the course. If you plan on doing any fabrication at all you will have to complete another tafe course or whatever. But good luck, i'd love to work with a performance workshop once i graduate, but engineers are more likely to work with larger companies, rather than at the workshop level.

Hi everyone, I am in need of a new set of front discs for the pretty stock R32 Gtst, wondering what to get. I have fitted racebrakes rb74 pads and am looking to upgrade the discs aswell. What would be better for my needs? (Slightly increased performance, not too expensive, must last for about as long as the standard ones) DBA909 slotted - $190ea DBA909 slotted and cross drilled - $210ea DBA4909 Standard - $194ea DBA4909 Slotted - $246ea Are the 4000 series worth the extra money. or should i get slotted and cross drilled standard series for the same price as the standard 4000's? Thanks, Rhett

After much debate on the forums a while ago, i think it was decided that you could have any diameter rim you want, as long as the overall diameter of the rim and tyre combined is no more than 1 inch different. But width must be no more than 1 inch wider as well.

40 psi hot. Thats what they said at the advanced driving course was good for handling in the dry and in the wet.

Not sure if you got my pm, but can you email pics and prices to [email protected] ? Thanks, Rhett -
Im pretty sure that carbon bonnets are legal on cars that are older than a certain date.... I think theyre legal on R32s but not on r33s? So just cars wont cover them if there illegal.

I use a clublock ($70 i think) as a visual deterrant, as well as a remote alarm immobiliser. I also have a 1 point keypad immobiliser which i got from jaycar for $60 which adds to the visual deterrant factor a bit i think. I have a turbo timer too but i dont see how hotwiring the turbo timer would help someone steal the car. If i leave my car somewhere im not really worried about it getting stolen, im more worried about it being keyed or someone breaking into it.

Is your car a GTR or gtst? People forget the Power FC for the r32 GTSt is almost $1000 more expensive than all the other models, when you include the handcontroller. Otherwise remapping costs about $300? Powerfc is $1200 + $300 tuning?

How much for the red GT badges? Does the car have sideskirts and the rear pods? If so, what condition and how much? Rhett -
Prices from Xspeed website: Control Unit 2: $181.82 Boost: $218.18 Water Temp and oil temp: $172.73 Ex. Temp, oil press and fuel press: $290.91 But you must add 10% for GST. And i guess because they are already in the country there is not chance of having to pay duty? I think perfect run are the cheapest for the control unit 2, at 9500 yen. Im getting the boost gauge soon, if you end up getting the gauges i would be interested in finding out how hard installing them is and also if you get everything you need (sensors etc) in the kit. Rhett PS Dont tell anyone but xspeed also have copy Do luck type 2 kits for R32 for about $1200. Have to keep it quiet or else everyone will end up with them before i have had a chance to save up. ;-)
