There are no insurance companies in Vic that will cover a skyline for the full purchase price. Third party fire and theft will only pay out a maximum of about $5000, minus any excess. So if you want to be covered for theft, you'll have to shell out for full comp.

That was a good read.. Worth reading I suppose ill have to buy a Playstation 2 now, unless GT4 comes out on computer too. (and i doubt that)

Ive got a Sparco wheel on my r32. It certainly "feels" better than the bus wheel on my r31.

R32 GTS-t diff models
xRHETTx replied to yogi000's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Ive got suede seats too.. They really make the interior look so much better. But i think the seats are an option on all GTSt's, they dont come standard on Type-Ms. -
speed radar detectors and jammers
xRHETTx replied to pentae's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yeah, it seems almost illegal because by law, when made your speedo only has to be accurate within 10%. ie 66 at 60kms is ok, or 110 at 100kms. So you can be breaking the law straight after driving a new car out of a showroom, thinking u are doing 100km -
R32 GTS-t diff models
xRHETTx replied to yogi000's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Ive heard from someone (cant remember who) that Type M R32's have 72 differences from the turbo non-type m. If you have the auction report it says Type M, but im not sure if thats accurate. Some differances are: Different steering wheel Different front bar Stiffer suspension. My R32 Type M has a heavily finned diff cover. Does this mean it has a V-spec diff? The only other finned diffs ive heard of are from GTR Vspecs? -

xRHETTx replied to pentae's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yeah, all u interstate people forget us Victorians can get fined for 63 in a 60 zone or even 103 in a 100 zone. Just stay at the speed limit. Easy. -
Need Info on Greddy Intake/Grex Struts
xRHETTx replied to xRHETTx's topic in General Automotive Discussion
thanks, Ill do that on the weekend, just wanted to know if anyone knew for certain b4 i tried trial and error. -
Hey, My new R32 GTSt has an old greddy airinx intake on it and GREX dampening ajustable struts, and im looking for some info on them. I cant find any info on www.trust-power.com Is the filter a dry filter or do i have to put oil on it? With the suspension, I think my tyres are rubbing when i hit big bumps, so id like to stiffen it up. I was told that their on the softest setting, but im not sure. The rears are on 4/8 (on the dial) and on the front the dot is pointing to the 4? If anyone has experience with these parts or could point me to a website that would be great. Rhett

Should you buy a Skyline for a first car?
xRHETTx replied to two40's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Tell him to get an R31, then move up to an r32 when he's 21. Thats what i did. -
Thanks for ur positive comments guys. Was driving home down Mooroduc Hwy towards Mornington about an hour ago and came across 10-15 WRX, GSR's and 1 R32 GTR. Had a bit of a run against a chameleon GSR, I went pretty well, it helped that it was a roll-on start. Must have been a Subaru/Mitsubishi club thing. First time I've really seen that many imports down this way. Another story, went to work the other day to show every1 the new car, only to have a white R34 GTR pull up in the carpark. All of a sudden no-one was looking at my car anymore!! After working at the same place for 3 years and never having seen an import there, a R34 turns up the very day I bring mine. Heh

Got a few photos up now... http://au.f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/rhett_fraser Apparently yahoo wont let freeloaders like me publicly share there high res photos anymore. So the pics arent that good, and the auction report is pretty small now. Id love to know know what some of the report means...

Ohhh... I get to change my profile...

Famous couldnt do better than $2600 because of my age, couldnt even match my online quote of $2200 from Just Cars. If anyone is after insurance from just cars, dont use the online quote system. It is way more expensive than just ringing up and waiting on hold.

Inark, I have the auction report in front of me, It is definately genuine, its rating 4, as of March this year. 74,000kms. I thought 4.5 was only for car under 50,000kms, and 4 was low kms for age, no accident damage and excellent condition for age. I might be wrong though, but the report is real, im sure of that. Im selling my r31 soon, as soon as i have time to get rwc and wash it. Its a December 88 manual, silver wagon GX, rola roof racks, remote immobiliser, about 237000kms, had it over 3 years, and its never stuffed up on me. Stock as Might come with decent stereo if i cant be bothered putting it in the new car. antuanstylar: I bought the car in Vic privately for $16.6k, onroad with 7months rego and 7 months warranty remaining. So i didnt import, didnt want to wait any longer, it seems to be what i was looking for anyway, at a similar price. You cant get a good r32 from japan for less than $15k ive been told, then add on hassle, rego rwc and no mods and it evens out. Insurance is $1700 insured agreed value $16600, 21, rating 3, no accidents or fines ever, with exhaust and wheels declared at the moment, will tell them about suspension soon. I guess it helps that im down on the Mornington Peninsula.

Hey, For anyone who is interested, Ive finally got my R32 today. Have been looking for ages, but then I saw this one and just had to have it. I wanted a sunroof but in the end it was more important to get a good car, than a shit one with a sunroof. Its a R32 manual GTSt Type M, white. Best thing about it is that when sold in Japan in March was auction grade 4!! Almost perfect. Second best thing is that it has the optional suede interior. The only car ive seen with it, looks more like the GTR interior, makes a big difference. And a few mods aswell to get me started, exhaust, trust ajustable dampening suspension, POD, wheels. So im really happy.. And I got insurance through Just cars for $500 cheaper than I thought it was going to be. Altogether a great day. Will post pics as soon as I can. Thanks, Rhett

thanks guys for the speedy reply, Now ill know where 2 look when i go to fill in rego transfer and VSR check. Rhett

Hey, this may be a really stupid question but im went to do a VRS check on a car im thinking of buying and couldnt find the engine number. Its a R32 GTSt so the eng no should have rb20 in it somewhere? Is it on the compliance plate or somewhere else? On the firewall? Thanks, Rhett PS. Feel free to laugh at my pathetic car knowledge.

Stuff you would buy if you went to Japan...
xRHETTx replied to king_kw13's topic in General Automotive Discussion
1. A pair of Bride Brix recliners with rails for R32 GTSt. 2. Two hella big suitcases to fit them in for the flight home. -
Can u send pics to me too please? or to [email protected] How many kms also?
-
Yeah Inark, have already seen that car on the mailing list. Its awesome, but I really dont want to have to wait til next year for a car. But someone should buy that car!!! Dean from UPI said 4-6 weeks for compliance for R32's. Will have to sell the R31, but id love a GTSR once im rich and famous and can afford to have more than one car.

I dont mind travelling, but now ive spent $500 on inspections and lost another $120 for an airfare coz they dont refund.

The racv inspected a car for me which is currently 4 sale at JSV in Thomastown, they said the car had been ina major accident, it even had a 10litre dint in the fuel tank! No wonder they were very anti me getting the test done. So 1 point to RACV. The other car i had inspected was for sale in Sydney therefore NRMA inspected it. They gave the car the thumbs up (even though they dont do a compression test, and would not, even for extra money, unlike RACV). So i negotiated a price, booked my flight and the nest day the crankshaft/piston/etc were fuct, car wouldnt even start apparently. Lucky i hadnt paid for it yet. Meggala, u already offered me ur car a while ago, but since u have done the conversion now and no a/c ill say no thanks. Inark, really want a white car with sunroof, so no thanks either. Does anyone know if RAWS compliance is available yet in Vic for R32 GTSt? I think i might have to import, to get the car that i want. Id rather a 93 car than an 89 coz of it would be a bit newer, and i wouldnt have to wait too long.
