Legal Side Of Car Crushing
xRHETTx replied to rollin_on_18_strong's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Crush them all. Who cares about those morons who street race anyway? Not me. -
Just got my renewal notice from Just cars - not happy at all! This would have been my fifth year of insurance with them with my R32 gtst, but my insurance has gone up this year by $70. The last four years were: $1700 $1200 $950 $930 And now they slug me $998 again! So I've paid them close to $5000 over the last four years, never had a claim, and I'm now 25 and they INCREASE my premium. What a joke... They even decreased the agreed value by $1000 since last year. i just can't work out way my premium went up. I'll be giving shannons a call definately, although even with Matt's help last year they couldnt match the just cars price.

Mate tried to pm you a while ago, not sure if it worked. If you are still keen pm me or call me on 0404021495. Same goes for anyone else still keen. I've checked out postage for the amp, it is about $15 to Sydney to give you a rough idea. The sub and box is way too big and heavy to post sorry. Cheers, Rhett

I think sewid is right, its not about what boost you can run, but the max duty cycle of the solenoid. The boost solenoid would probably handle 100psi, but the second it is running at 100% duty cycle ie. it is always open, you wont be able to bleed off any more air, therefore wastegate opens and you reach your boost limit.

Ah i would be careful comparing private ambulance cover with Ambulance Vic membership. I think you will find they dont cover the same things. ie. Ambulance Vic covers everything, private only covers ambulance trips between hospitals etc.

R33 Various Stock Bits
xRHETTx replied to vault13's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Nice Fallout cartoon character. that game was awesome! -
Take the bov off and replace it with a stock one, then see if the problem is fixed. Take the AFR guage out and throw it in the bin. what do you mean it fails to register? no power, no signal?
-
How much did you pay for it? $2000? You get what you pay for buddy, I hope you disclose all this when you go to on-sell the car to some poor unsuspecting person.

Um I dare say that he would have had travel insurance and therefore would have been treated as a private patient? But if you dont want to take private health insurance out, its up to you. Thank god we dont have a system like America! My friend paid US$2400 when he broke his arm for x-rays and cast, up-front before they would treat him. I agree that if you are healthy and young maybe its not essential, but I like the peace of mind it gives me. Same as car insurance. Rhett

I should get a good one this year... having finished uni last year and now working for a decent wage only for the last 6 months. I always do mine myself as it is pretty simple if you dont run your own business or have complicated investments etc. Just do it on etax and go through every page carefully and read all the documentation. Private health insurance, I have had it my whole life and couldnt think of why someone who can afford a skyline wouldnt have it?? Mine is $65 a month, and have used it a few times, used to have contact lenses/glasses etc so got rebates all the time. Had my wisdom teeth out a few years ago, good luck getting that done if you dont have private insurance and its not urgent. Also had a cyst removed from my ear (which was deemed non-essential surgery) that would never had been done in the public system. but in the end its up to you, i guess its the same as having car insurance, but you are risking your health, not just your car.

Should have got a Legnum...

Well can you please enlighten us with what was wrong? I'm interested, i think it was probably that the gauge's 12V or earth wires were not connected properly.
-
You are talking about 2 different things. 1. Yes the hose is a good spot to plug the pressure sensor into (if you have an electrical gauge like an EL2 or whatever) or just run the hose to the actual gauge (if you have a mechanical gauge). I've got my pivot gauge's sensor plugged in here, was so simple to do and works well. 2. No you probably wont be able to use the stock boost gauge's sensor with your apexi gauge. The sensor will most likely have the wrong output range for your gauge. You can try it if you want, it might work but how are you going to know if what you have got now is any better than the stock one? Rhett

Will Changing My Fmic Piping Increase Power Or Work
xRHETTx replied to 4drftn's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
OK my guess is that the cooler the air is, the slower it travels (as it occupies less volume). As friction is a factor of the air speed squared, you are better off having the "hot side" of the cooler shorter with less bends than the "cool side". But this is opposite to what you've shown above, so I'm probably wrong. -
Aftermarket/stock? Electrical/mechanical? A few more hints please....

Will Changing My Fmic Piping Increase Power Or Work
xRHETTx replied to 4drftn's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
A 180 degree mandrel bend will only add at most 1.5 times its length in restriction. So if the pipe in the bend is 40cm long, it adds the same restriction as a 60cm piece of pipe. So if you are reducing the piping length by 20cms but having the bend you are ahead. -
Yeah sounds like the dyno reads a little low. Always get a readot from the dyno, its not all about the peak power number. You can see how the Air fuel ratios are, what boost you are running throughout the rev range etc. I would think with your mods you'd prob have about 140-160rwkw. Depends on the fuelling and if your exhaust is turbo back etc.

As someone who catches a tram every day to and from work all i can say is this is such a good idea. So many idiots zoom past the trams when they are meant to give way, I'd say that I see one every day at least. In the last two months the tram i have been in has been hit by people trying to do u-turns or trying to duck in front of the tram to turn right. If people break the rules they should be fined right in the arse. Its not hard to drive properly.

Jaycar Independent Electronic Boost Controller
xRHETTx replied to TTT's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah don't try to install it without the info in the book. It is installed in a different way to other boost controllers, as manwhore said it blocks when others bleed. I can scan tomorrow if you want.
