  1. Yeah fair enough, I guess I was just trying to make a point that you can't always go around fixing things just because they might break in the future. My fuel pump (r32 gtst) lasted 14 years and 175,000kms. I discovered my car was running lean so i replaced it with a GTR pump. So IMHO if you know your pump is providing enough fuel, its not worth replacing it. I guess if you want the extra peace of mind, upgrade it. But make sure you get it dynoed after to ensure the new pump is operating as expected. Cheers, Rhett

    So And So

Hate to say this but did you get a mechanical inspection done before you handed the money over? Did you agree in writing on the condition of the car? If not, you should have. Most of those things should be covered under the warranty that you get when buying any car from a dealer, so give them a call. But really you should have already known about them before you bought the car: Didnt you see the oxy burn? Didn't you feel something wrong with the steering/suspension when you test drove it? Did the FMIC kit you bought come with supports? Did you check that it had them when you picked the car up?
  3. By your reasoning you should sell your r32 and get a new car because it could die at any time. keep the stock fuel pump, its still working, no reason to change it and spend money now rather than later. If it dies in the future, change it then. It'll take you 2 hours max, and usually they slowly die rather than just stopping working all of a sudden, so you should have plenty on notice before it goes.
  4. Yeah, they're about that for ryco coopers etc as well. use hot water to get the rubber hoses off.
  5. Hi all, Need to get rid of a few things clogging up my room. First up a 10 inch Clarion pro audio sub (i think its rated to 250W) in a carpeted, tuned ported Aeropro box. Very good condition, a bit dusty in the pics. Box was $150 itself new. $130 Next up is a Clarion V-net 4 channel amp, rated at 4x50 Watts RMS. Good condition, but has a circular scratch on it where a spring from my car seat used to rub on it (was installed under my drivers seat in my old r31). Needs a wipe down as is pretty dusty after sitting in my room for a while. Otherwise works perfectly. Was used with rear channels bridged to power the above sub, whilst running 6.5 inch splits off the front two channels. Sounded good IMHO. $100 Or if you want to take both I'll do it all for $200. Selling because I'm not doing the audio thing with my R32, happy with just a headunit and speakers. Pickup is from Armadale, Vic 3143 or can be arranged with enough notice in Mt Martha 3934. Postage not a viable option, as both items are really heavy. Any question please just ask, I'm on the forums every day. Bigger res pics can be emailed if required. Thanks, Rhett
  6. I've had my r32 for over 3 years now and done about 110,000kms in it. Its up to 180,000kms or so now. Mechanically, i haven't had a major problem. Í've had to replace the clutch and the fuel pump. And the timing belt at 100,000kms. That's it. So IMHO that's pretty good reliability. My car has a small patch of rust in the rear arches, been there for 2 years and hasn't go worse, an easy fix if i cared enough to get it dealt with/had the money to burn. So really you should just choose which model you prefer, they are going to be pretty similar otherwise.
  7. take it off and clean the inside, cleaning the outside (unless it is really covered in crap) will not do much. The inside will be totally covered in oil (probably). Go buy a litre or so of Metho and a litre of Kero and mix them together. Pour it in, shake it about, pour it out again. Repeat x 10 or so, until the liquid is pretty clean when it comes out. You'll probably pick up 10 rwkW or so. And be thankful that you just realised you have a $2k front mount. Cheers, Rhett
  8. And further to this a police officer can book you on his "opinion" of how fast you were travelling, as mentioned before. No camera/radar/laser/flux capacitor required. So pay the fine, you were speeding. Be a man. Take responsibility for your actions.
  9. Maybe get a new oxygen sensor, and if that doesn't help get the ecu retuned. Get the workshop to spend a decent amount of time on the lower load points etc to improve your economy.
  10. There is a sunroof place on princes highway/ dandenong road just out of dandenong northbound... Have you considered buying a stock one from a wreckers and getting someone to install it?
  11. If you are handy with a soldering iron maybe try one of the Jaycar cruise control kits and make it yourself, it should be pretty easy to connect up to the spare radio controls.
  12. Drive slower, that'll fix it. And it is true that all a police officer needs to book you for speeding is their opinion on how fast you were going. But it is also true that the speed detectors work when they are driving along towards you.
  13. I have 235/45/17 on 9 inch wide rims. Reason - they came that way. And when i replaced the tyres i was scared that any wider would rub. So you will be fine, i've driven over 100,000km in my r32 with these sized tyres. Its the extreme streching you have to be wary of.
  14. Updated with lower prices. Its a cheap way to get into car audio, just add some 6" splits and you've got a good solid system.
  15. So you are saying will it work before you get the ecu rechipped? If so, you should be able to work out the amount of correction required by combining the ratio of the injector sizes and then the voltage/air flow outputs of the afm. I highly doubt it would come out to be around zero (which is what you are asking i think). An ecu remap should be able to correct for the z32 afm and different injectors.
  16. Don't know the part number but any Autobarn Supercheap Bursons etc will have them, just look in the catalogues they have lying around the store and find it - its very similar to the one used on the 300ZXs. (they are actually interchangable, the only difference is the bend on the outlet side of the filter)
  17. Yeah mine are just as you described but with a 12mm bolt or so screwed into them and a mounting bracket/hook thing on the bolt.

  19. If it was complianced correctly it should have 2 restraint/anchor hooks on the rear parcel shelf, usually behind the rear speakers. If you dont go complain to the place that did the compliance, get them to put them in.
