PowerFC: Some DIY tuning comments please
Butters replied to paulr33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
SK, Is it not also possible with a new fuel pump if its running a "LOT" more pressure and flow, for it to actually push more then the fuel regulator can handle ? Then creating greater rail pressure and a richer tune ? extreme case probably but curious. -
Amm there is also the breather into the inlet snorkle. Which fills all your piping and intercooler with oil. I'd say using a catch can to stop that isn't rice.

I believe the main issue you will have is with the final rear hook and the tip alignment under the rear bumper. They are not the same exahust.

I see Fatz you have your D-jetro for sale now. There are a couple of 26's here(perth) now running d-jetro without the single throttle body conversion. Perhaps it would be worth your while speaking to X-speed in perth.

There is a difference. I have pulled the rom files of both a silvier Rb20 auto and a manual. The main tables(fuel/ignition) are pretty much the same. The rev limit seems higher on the manual though(although this could be a fluke). The actual map files are not the same though. From what I understand the auto softens the timing in the higher RPM so when you stand on it, during the gear change there is not as much tourqe. Hence going from an auto to manual, a auto ecu would work ok, you just may find the top of your rpm lacking slightly. If you were to go the other way, manual ecu in an auto, you will find your gearchanges some what un-pleasant with the auto box at full throttle.

Got this nice set for sale Apexi 260 intake and exhaust Cam shaft 10.8mm lift Matching Heavy Duty valve springs All to suit SR20det Red top. The cams were sold to me as 260(although i can't verify thats what they are) I have confirmed the lift is 10.8 though. On my SR20 they gave a good 25 - 30 rwhp increase across the rev range with no other mods and at the same boost level. These are used but in excellent condition. Will post up pics at a later date. Looking for $850 for the set.

Your base timing might be right and you may pull out heaps of timing in the ecu ... doesn't mean your cam timing is correct ... Any chance you got the teeth out when you setup the timing belt ? Just a thought

Ammm AFAIK, There basically the same turbo dude. The GTRS was released later and has basically the same wheels as the GT2835. The only difference was the GTRS has a smaller compressor cover. Designed to be used as a direct easy replacement to a lot of nissan turbo's. That said the gt2835 should net more power based on the larger cover. Neither will make 350rkw. Ther are rated at 400 ps(give or take depending on models). So about 250rwkw is realistic.

Thanks red drifter. Already had a good look around there with no luck. Plenty of manual ones on there. I assume Darkhalf is on here ? -
Which GT35 Turbine Housing. 0.82 or 1.06a/r for RB26
Butters replied to Shaun's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Depending where you look, it varies between 20 hp difference and 100 hp. I did find an 80 hp variance in one place. Gotta love acurate net info ... Everyone seems to rate the 1.06 rear one as 700hp. The .86 rear seems to vary between 620hp and 680hp ...... actaully just found a site that rates the .86 rear as 700 hp too Be really nice to know exactly what the .86 rear one is rated at if anyone knows for sure ?? The Garret Catalog rates the .82 and 1.06 from 400 - 600 hp .... -
There is one point we all miss here. We all are assuming manufactors make cars to be there best / fastest / most effecient. Manufacturers dont make the best car the possibly can, they make cars that SELL and make money ...... Doesn't TWIN Turbo sound cool to the marketing department ? Above that I dont truly know the answer to which is better. I just thought it nice to show some real world examples up for thought
-
The best example I think is the GT42R single making 1131 hp vs 2 x 3240's making 1073 hp The 3240's are on a 3.4 litre engine, vs a 3litre engine. And I am afraid the single turbo making more power on the samller engine comes on harder

Spend some time here --> http://dyno.to4r.com/graph.php Think you will find in most case's the twin turbo's get humped like little pooch's by late model BB singles.

Flying Performance Front & Dump Pipe in 1
Butters replied to R33RWKW's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Just fitted one to a mates car. Lined up nicely. Pretty darn impressed really. Dont expect the coating(cheap paint) to last. It burnt of straight away. Who cares though its an exhaust. faced the flanges a little to make sure it got a nice seal, other then that no complaints. bought it from here --> http://www.rzoneperformance.com.au/product...product=Exhaust $165 is cheap in anyones language. -
wanker !! lol not sure what it is, i've had dramas with the hks idle stab coming un-pluged I think its that. Gets secured tonight oh and ken make sure the dyno isn't on lock .... hehe (another in-house j/k)

Actually got my 32 rom tuned today. My siliva is my previous rom experience. It had a jap map that was quite fat. Took it from 250 rwhp to 288rwhp with NO OTHER MODS then tuning the rom. Exact same psi. Its a little of as it comes on boost but thats because my bleed valve is spiking badly. As for what is a Chip. Its exactly that. They take the factory chip that hold all your fuel / timing etc. Un-soldier it from the board. Put a socket on the board so the chips can be easily swapped. Then using an editing tool change the values in the map. The best thing is all your daily/cold starting/air con /etc and of boost driving is not changed. So your car truly drives like factory but with the correct setup for your mods.
-
Both will cost about the same once tuned SAFC you get a wider range of tuners and a screen. Rom you get to adjust everything including your timing. The rom will give you a far better tuning result. And for the record a tuned ROM is AS good as a lot of fully programmable ecu's. Just because its 1/4 the price of an installed and tuned aftermarket ecu doesn't mean its not as good.

rb25 Turbo onto rb20, does this need new ECU?
Butters replied to jazza08's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
With a 25 turbo on a 20 they do get really fuelly. Even at standard boost levels, higher boost it gest worse. It will work fine but not be ideal. Say good by to "any" economy you had. Also you will obviously not make the full power potental of the turbo until its tuned. This has been my experiences anyhow -
What hurts a RB25DET motor? Boost or Power

Thats a top bit of text SK. -
I have been a member of this forum since it basically began, moving over from SDU. SAU - WA section HAS taken a turn down hill. This thread is another example of why. A lot of in-fighting and power play action. Its a shame really
