  1. Has anyone ever used or even seen the Tomei exhaust manifolds for RB26? They can be seen here: http://expreme.pro.nu/ I have a feeling they are made in China, but they look okay.
  2. I might look into it when (if) I have some time...won't be for a while though, so much to do at the moment!
  3. he wan'ts to remove the oil, not the concrete!!
  4. Ben...I'm giving it a bit of a freshen up...but not 'getting it done', doing it myself.
  5. Damn you!! I told you that in confidence
  6. I'm not getting any work done
  7. Not really. The inertia will make the wheel tend to maintain its rotation when a force (torque) is removed, but it won't increase it's rotational speed. If it did, energy would be coming from nowhere!
  8. If I got my way, my car would be on the road tonight...I hate waiting for stuff Nah...definately not going bigger than the GTRS's
  9. You've been doing that a bit lately
  10. It actually is jaycar's shift light kit. A relay would do a terrible job of controlling RPM, it won't be able to switch on and off quick enough to regulate the RPM. If you were sitting on the rev limiter, instead of say bouncing between 8000 and 8100RPM like the power FC does, it might bounce between 8000 and 9000RPM. It wouldn't be too hard to make something I guess. Just a frequency comparator circuit that looks at the tach output and then switches say the CAS (will cut fuel and igintion) to regulate the RPM. You could also have an input from the speedo sensor to have two limits, a lower one when the vehicle is stationary (for launch control) and a higher one as soon as it starts moving.
  11. From memory, that kit just uses a relay to cut igntion. And you think the Power FC is slow to catch the 8000RPM rev limit
  12. Yep...fair enough, I was't disagreeing with you, I just can't undertsand how they pop and belch black smoke and flames when bouncing off a rev limiter that supposedly cuts fuel???
  13. Yes, but is it picking up knock or noise / shock from the backfiring? I know that cars with faulty coils also have high knock readings when they miss and backfire.
  14. I'm still not convinced about the whole lean out on rev limit thing. If the power FC cuts fuel only on rev limit, then shouldn't their be no combustion as their is no fuel at all? The Power FC doesn't limit the fuel, it cuts the fuel. Also, if the Power FC cuts fuel and not ignition, then why does a car running a power FC backfire and blow balck smoke when it bounces of the revlimiter??
  15. And they feel even slower when they break a turbine and run on 3 cylinders.
  16. Yeah...that's good to know. I'm just trying to work out how many DD AWKW my car had...never had the chance to put it on a DD dyno. When I put my car on Jason's dyno, he had just had the software upgraded and was complaining that it was reading a further 15% lower than it did before. I think it has since been upgraded again and it's reading about the same as it used to.
  17. Yep...that's huge. Was Jason's dyno reading the same as Darts?
  18. Yeah...what would the japs know...pack of dummies they are
  19. What does a straight AFR curve have to do with the quality of a tune? Getting a dead straight curve isn't exactly that difficult (or important for that matter). One thing I noticed is that it seems damn lean. I wonder why Jim choose to tune so lean...he must have his reasons. Did he say anything about it Ben?
  20. Another GTR made 280awkw on the same dyno and trapped 125mph at the drags...so go figure. Also, a wrx made a bit over 200 on the same dyno and made just under 300kw on a dyno dynamics. It's all relative really.
  21. As in 8 hrs in and 8hrs out? What do you mean, "you got some work coming up?"?
  22. Out of interest Paul, how long does it take you to R&R a GTR engine?
  23. Why not put a GTR crank and rods in it?
  24. Thanks mate...thought as much
