from people i have spoken to with avcrs its not as handy as you think
1stly the boost response curve is dictacted by the turbo and engine response to a degree making large corrections difficult at certain points
2ndly when you tune the engine you have a fair bit of control of the power delivery anyway and a good tuner should give you a useable tune with a nice progressive power curve giving max traction
3rdly on turbo engine combos like this the difference between 1.2bar and .8 bar may not be enough to make much difference to traction issues . if you had a 1000hp drag car running 2 bar then it would be more usefull cause 2 bar in 1st gear is going to be a bitch .
but thats just what ive been told i havent used the avcr personally . im getting the powerfc boost control kit for my skyline instead .
the ricey screen is nice though
oh yea , my specified repairer who i knew friend of the family , great job , no corners cut. having said that it wasnt a huge amount of damage , it doesnt take much to rack up 8ks worth of panels on a s15
tehnically there will be all these clauses in your policy that states if the car is modified without telling them they dont have to pay out etc etc . but personally ive never informed the insurance company of mods unless I want them to cover it . if its totalled and you loose 5k in mods atleast you got most of your cash back
anyway im with hbf , i had a 02 200sx 28k value 700$ per year max NCB 27 years old
i had the policy 2 days and my better half drove it into a tree . 8k damage . hbf were quite happy to pay .
now ive got a r33 gtst sedan 95 15k value about 600$ per year
on the of the big factors is the stock turbo , you can if you have to run 17psi on the s15 , you cant get any where near that on a rb25 turbo . so if you upgraded the same things minus the turbo the s15 would cain it in . if you did say a hks gtrs on both its pretty line ball .
when i was talking to a local well known performance specialist and turbo guru he said the TO4s thats in the current garrett gt30 for example is not the same as the 1970s t04s as garret change the design and manufacturing over time .
i dont know enough about the subject either way so i cant make any comment .
that 96 is a rip off . you could get a 98 r34 if you search for that price . then it becomes a different battle .
the r34 is much more modern , much newer , maintainence costs and insurance costs are less , modifications cost less to a degree
the r32 gtr has much more scope for high performance modifications
holden have already stated they plan to implement 4wd across all their commodore lines , specifically the HSV/SS line . Its a marketing strategy nothing else , it will be sold on saftey and handling not performance . Next gen commodre vs falcon battle will be AWD just like this current one is VVT/power outputs plus it gives them more leverage vs mitsubishi (magna) and to some extent subaru .
limit of the stock turbo is about 200rwkw . s15 440cc injectors will just get you there at a duty cycle thats probably best to be avoided
your really pushing the limits though , and many s15s have needed cams injectors afm to get to 200rwkw on the stock t28
I have just imported a USA made item from the usa and no duty under the USFTA . Its got to be a product of the USA though , a japanese boost controller being sent from the usa wont qualifty
but there is still gst and other fees
