Exhaust Types - Better or Worse?
32vspecII replied to ProjectRSR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
thats pretty much it . the total area is greater than the single pipe as you have seen . there may be a small loss due to the turbulence where the pipe splits but it would be marginal .The stock xr6t has a twin pipe catback section and owners have found no advantage replacing it with a single system . -
Petrol Prices - don't know if you take this seriously
32vspecII replied to JXL's topic in Western Australia
Interestingly I was reading an article by noam chomsky which described how the US in the late 40s and 50s began to convert western democracies and asian industrialised countries from coal based economies to oil based economies . Most of these nations were self sufficient in coal but had to rely on imported oil . By doing this and by controlling the supply of oil they basically had a strangle hold on those countries economies effectively taking them over . While the US is also dependant on imported oil it was considered that through massive military force they could control the world oil supplies and therefor direct supplies as required to meet their own demand . and ofcoarse the rest is history -
if hyperdrive did and you are having problems strait after take it back to them , they are tops and will sort it out strait away for you . they know their way around nissan everything .

32vspecII replied to ossie_21's topic in Western Australia

that is cool . my main interest in hdd loaders is to "backup" loads of games on 1 big hdd . so usb 1.1 speeds are not that much of a problem
-
there are no specific hdds but some do not work go to the hdloader / hd advance web sites and they have lists of compatible drives once again there is no support for new slim ps2
-
theres no way to verify kms apart from the overall condition of the car , I work on the law of average , 10000km per year in japan and 20000km per year after it was complied into australia . so assuming its a new import it should have about 80000km , more if it was complied a few years back take it to a performance workshop and get it inspected .

get the profec , or you can get a blitz ssbc for about 400 also . i got a second hand old blitz ssbc off the forums , here . it didnt work . luckily the guy gave me back most of my money , got a 2nd one of the same type and replaced the faulty control unit . so it cost about 200$ all up and ive got some spares just incase . -
only evo 6 and up is elegible for import and im only aware of actual complaince plates being avaliable for the 7 at the moment . there are a few earlier ones around domestically if you search hard . check the evo forums . they are all personal imports or rebirths under a loop hole in the vic road laws that existed a few years back , basically you got a domestic lancer gsr wreck , replaced it with an evo and the vic DOT gave you new chassie numbers and rego . also popular is taking domestic gsr and replacing it with evo III running gear , engine , everything . its ok , except the real evos have different strengthened chassies and a few other things that cant be replicated and for collector value , well its a gsr with evo gear , its not a real evo . 45k for an evo7 imported it your up for it or keep searching for an earlier one , they do come up eventually

R34gtt Intercooler Into Stagea
32vspecII replied to Sydneykid's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
hey sk , can you dyno and test the new i/c on its on , maybe inlet/outlet temps . Im curious as to if there would any substantial improvement . cheers -
every time i talk to lumpy about an rb25/30 hes not very keen on the idea .....
-
for the price of a motec , you could convert to a manual and a powerfc . hell for the price of some of the motecs you could get a rb26 and manual
-
unless you have a r34 or a stagea with the r34 neo rb25 and ecu you cant get daughter boards . there is a guy in the forsale section who has something for sale but only he can tune it and workshops who have tried to get information about it from him have failed . What I think he is doing is taking your ecu and replacing it with another nissan ecu that can be chipped and modifying that for the r33 . There are a couple of places around that do similar things . But I dont know how those other factory ecus will handle the r33 auto , those workshops have only done manuals . in theory it will still work . No aftermarket ecu will operate the auto the same as the stock ecu , all will have a degree of problems . Even NIB admited after direct questioning . "Aftermarket ECUs all effect autos but we have had no real problems. Worst case we have had is like a mild shift kits been fitted." http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...highlight=arkon Your only alternative is to use and interceptor type of device such as emanage or safc . However as you are modifying the load data going to the ecu it will also effect the auto transmission to a lesser extent as it uses that load information to change gears . So thats basically it , R32 or R34 rechip or interceptor , R33 interceptor or manual conversion

S15's please give some opinions
32vspecII replied to twoquik's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i owned a s15 for 2 years and now the r33 . i needed 4 doors . the s15 is a great car , the pinicle of the s series . it has a great turbo , t28 sometimes ball bearing capable of reaching 200rwkw , biger intercooler , big injectors , variable valve timing , mechanical LSD (not the same as any gtr) better suspension . shit gearbox . it handles better , brakes better and is far quicker than an equivilent gtst/gtt . I could slaughter v8s and I only had 14psi , 3inch exhaust , pod filter . $ for $ and mod for mod its a much quicker car . domestic nissan support , cheaper insurance . cops are faily kind on them also . an gtr is expensive , to buy , own , maintain , fix and insure . if your looking at an early 33 , they are getting a bit old . the rb26 is a highly strung racing engine , parts are expensive and they are are complex to fix . if your looking at a cheap 32 15 year import it could all go well or I know people who have spent 40k now to get a gtr supposed to cost 20k , full engine rebuild , new gearbox , panel work and respray will quickly eat away the cash . -
for 3k you would get a proper job done at a reputable performance workshop and it would be identical to the manual , except the clutch would be brand new and it wouldnt if you got a manual 2nd hand .
-
its 2.5-3k to convert your auto to a manual down the track and thats pretty much the price difference . I would have thought a stock auto would kill a crappy 1.5/1.8l lancer across the entire rev range but its been a long time since I had a car like that . Perhaps the timing on the r33 you drove was not set up correctly , that is pretty common and saps power . A full 3 inch exhaust , new pod/panel filter and some boost and your lancer worrys will be over . It wont be super quick but it will give you a nice push in the back .

isnt nollamara just near balga also ?
-
actually I have found in my stays there thats the opposite for the majority . there is a lot of knowledge and respect for gtrs , evos , stis . obviously thats not everyone but thats my general impression . more than anything the most hated of all is the v8 commodore .
-
when you do your 1st rb26 engine rebuild you will understand the concept of high running costs
