Im not trying to just remove the tie rod ends from the hub, im wanting to replace the whole tie rod and the tie rod end from the steering rack. My LH tie rod is bent i did it out at calder last weak, some people call them different things that is just the name i am used to. What i want to do is get my car back on the road without having to replace the whole steering rack and even upgrade at the same time to some stronger tie rods and ones that give me a little more lock to lock steering. Apparently some brands can give an extra 3 to 4% extra lock at full lock. Anyways so i spoke to someone last night who was able tell me how the did theres on an s13, So once you have used a punch and hammer to tap up the lock tabs you then get a shifter and place it around the tie rod side of the tabs and just undo, if the rack is moving around to much to undo use another shifter on the rack side to hold it in place. It was so easy once i knew there was a thread and it was just a matter of untwisting.

Im in the middle of trying to replace my tie rods on my R33, ive got the steering rack out of the car so i can work on a bench. I have removed both steering rack boots and am now trying to remove both tie rods. There appears to be four tabs to each side of the steering rack locking eack tie rod in to the rack. Ive used a flat punch to knock up the four tabs on each side of the tie rods however there seems to be something preventing me from removing the tie rods, anyone change there own before? Any help would be great as i would like to get the car back on the road asap. cheers

Suspension Setup - Drifting
treo replied to Baz's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hey gotboost, Ive been setting up my r33 for drift. I would have to agree with sydney kid about power, it would be better to learn with less than more. First thing i would be to get a 2way mechanical type lsd, i got a tomei type which is very user friendly, doesnt clunk everywhere. then a thick rear sway bar you will be able to feel a huge difference. Suspension would be my other top priority, dont just look at at jap brands koni's and other brands you can rebuild easily and are easily revalved to suit your needs. Subframe bushes are a plus if your rear end is still feeling unstable and a hicas lock kit. Strut braces if you ask me are a bit of a wank till you do all the rest first, the re4ally dont feel much different. So do things like front castor rods next and front sway bar. Tie rod ends or steering spacers are good to give you that little bit extra lock out of corners, could also get some adjustable upper control arms as skylines have double wishbone suspension so adjustable pillowball mount strut tops arent effective. How big is the wallet, roll cage, seam welded chassis, the list goes on -

When i replaced the window regulator it was pointless because it was just one of the bolts that runs through the window that had snaped, i thought it was a rail. If you want to try my window control unit on your car just pm me, otherwise if its your reg ive got a spare also il sell cheap.
