  1. If I ever get mine back on the road,it's surpose to be a pretty strong street car, with occasional drag use.Leaving all the trimmings inside to keep it a nice cruiser as well
  2. Prices would be for sets. You've been chasing a sump for ages, can you not use the sump off the atmo donk you got?
  3. Tisk Tisk! As you rightly say,it's the owner/driver that has to be happy with it! Say NO to peer pressure
  4. Isn't that th pre-load screw, not a slack adjuster? Guess it works as either though
  5. Yeah possibly, but wouldn't it be easier to use a VN or similar that is known to be the same BW 78 series? Is there a particular reason for wanting to use a VT diff?
  6. Aren't VT's IRS though?
  7. Boof,I think you'll find the reel is behind the quater trim. The blade part bolted to the inner sill in the pic there is the other end of the belt. Adam.My buckles must've been bigger than the ones you have,as there was no way I could've fed them through th drop link as you've done...
  8. mmmm, looks nasty, but I doubt it's totally closed off the oil pick up.Unless it's giving the pick up enough of a jar to crack/break the pick up's pipe,in which case it'd be sucking air. If you're going to beat that damage out,be carefull not to split the steel,as it's pretty streatched (sp) looking.
  9. I'd be interested to know how you did it Adam. I looked at trying to use to originals in my HR,but it wasn't going to work without cutting the belt.Bit late for me now,but just for interest's sake
  10. The ones I got for the fron tof my HR30 coupe were: "Teh dropLink" I went to a seatbelt business though, not Repco, etc. One thing I was a bit dissapointed about, the drop link wasn't quite as long as the originals, but liveable. Don't reuse the original drop links!!!! You will get kicked right up the arse if anyone discovers the belts have been restitched!
  11. I've heard conflicting reports on that....I think the EX is higher trim specs.Haven't seen many ES's with power windows (as my EX had) The stock badging is as you discribed,I should've been clearer.Mine only had the "Turbo" and "EX" badges reversed. Have attached a bigger pic that shows it clearer. I liked the sound of "EX Turbo" rather than "Turbo EX"........
  12. Yes I have 1 FJ20ET powerd R31 Pintara, 1 RB20DET Pintara, 1 RB30E R31 Skyline, 1 L24ET HR30 Skyline, and current HR31 Skyline After that poor effort at showing off,I have to be honest and say I can't really remember the HR30's crosmember. Undoubtably it would swoop forward somewhat, compared to the pic of the DR30 xmember you posted there,so as to accomidate the longer 6cyl engine. Aussie MR30 should be the same-try and have a squize in one of them. Best thing to do is visit your local wreckers with tape measure in hand, and see what you can find.
  13. I reckon stick the boot badges back on it. Is it an ES or EX? My old rig had the badges reversed, which I thought looked quite good.
  14. Quote: "pics of R31, DR30 & S13 crossmembers (Left to Right)."/Quote I don't know where you found that pic,but it is definatly not of an R31 crossmember. EDIT:added pic
  15. Agree with colour scheme comments, and also the lack of the "preview" of the first few lines of the post when the mouse is over the thread title. And I now have RB25DE under my name! How distastefull!
  16. With 246HP @ the wheels, and 1270KG to cart around, the Pintara felt quite lively....till I got used to it that is! Sadly it only had a single spinner,so any tail out action was quite violent,as the single legger changed it's mind on which way to go. The HR31's a bit heavier, listed at 1360KG with the RB20.Should end up a bit lighter than that with the FJ in it,despite bigger intercooler, etc. Good thing about the Skyline,is it rides even better than the Pintara did, also has 4WS,LSD,big brakes, etc, etc. The amount of trouble this conversion is causing me,it's a wonder it still has the Hicas, air con, etc! After steing out of a my KE20 Corolla back into the HR31,even 246HP should feel bloody fast for a while! Hopefully soon after boost will go from 10psi (246hp) up to 25+ (???hp) I agree that there's no substitute for cubes-even in the turbo world...but...if I may quote you: "I detect that the love affair with the FJ20ET is alive and well..." god damn right!
  17. Tisk Tisk Disco! :warning: Don't you read much on fj.com? I'm sure you've seen my progress! Yes I removed the RB20DET,and promptly disposed of it The FJ is now bolted into place, next is gearbox x-member mods.I'm aware that you are not a fan of my turbo or engine choice, but hey - each to their own How's this for food for thought then.....Imagine an GRP A spec HR31 with an FJ20 take on a GRP A DR30! I know where my money'd be then :uh-huh: My choice of direction was for several reasons: 1. I already had the built FJ from my previous car,and not a fan of RB20's. 2. I really like the HR31 for ride quality, features, etc over the 30's. 3. Best of both worlds,in my mind. Grunt of the DR30 (FJ20) and the stlye and more refined ride and electrics of the HR31. 5. Something different. 6. Teh FJ20 can neva lose!
  18. Disco,as they say in the movies: are you talkin ta me?
  19. HR31 HICAS works constantly, regardless of vehicle speed.May have something to do with explaining it?
  20. And as Disco points out,it may create more problems than it's worth? My FJ now sits about half/three quarters of an inch (roughly) more rearward than they do in the DR30's.Maybe I should start calling it a "DR31"?
  21. As I'm sure you noticed, mine is an HR31,not an H/DR30. I had the same idea as you originally though,to move the FJ back against the firewall to mate up with the original RB20 gearbox, and discovered that I'd need all the above things, so decided against doing it.I've now moved the gearbox forward to meet the motor, after modifying the box, crossmember, etc. Should be back on the road late this year sometime. If you can't do much of the work yourself, then you'll be looking at a pretty large bill to get it all done Large as in many thousands....
  22. Also standard on the GTS-X version of the HR31. I fold cause I can That, and my GT Autospoiler :D
  23. Yeah,as Boof said, remote booster/master cyl and most likely clutch master as well. You'll also have to make decent crossmember mods to sit the FJ further back, and also gearbox x-member too.Ask me how I know
  24. Na,Different shape
